Technically, the last TIME we see the Ocarina of Time is when it's in the hands of a teenage Princess Zelda, and when she is using it to transport a teenage Link 7 years into the Past! Also, due to the time-split from LoZ:OoT, there are actually TWO Ocarinas of Time (one with Princess Zelda in the Future timeline, and the one we see in LoZ:MM, as seen in this video)! Time-travel is always confusing, no matter how often it's used in a plot-line.
I came to the comments to mentions how this video is great for the child timeline but what about the adult timeline and where the ocarina could be during The Wind Waker but you beat me to it
I mean, the fallen hero also possesed the ocarina when defeated. Therefore, the ocarina also exists in the defeated timeline. Question is, who took it when Link was defeated? The only two there were Zelda and Ganon.
And also, that it wasn't brought up in Twilight Princess because there was no need for it and it was just forgotten altogether in BOTW since it's been well over 10,000 years.
Thats what i always assumed as well...figured it prob lost its power by the events of Link to the Past...and instead of being able to open the door of time all it can do is call a bird. Lol. Jk. Ocarinas are usually made of clay - and sometimes maybe time bending stones - but they r usually fairly delicate. Prob just got shattered over the thousands of years. Also, while i eat up this lore like it's my god damn supper, it really is all relative.
Uh... Ordon Village exists because of people fleeing from the war that Ganondorf started because Link told the king about his plans to betray Hyrule. How were there no major wars?
I'd say that being warned by Ganondorf's coup prompted the king to act fast, so it was more of an insurrection than a war. Gerudo outnumbered and with nothing stopping the other races from helping they mustev stormed the fortress and slaughtered or captured them, destroying thier fortress forcing them to retreat to the spirt temple where they held out until royal armies sieges broke through
Wouldn't OoT Zelda know all the songs seeing that she taught songs to Link and for the other songs could have learned from Link himself? Moreover, seeing that the stones have the sheikah symbol couldn't Impa have created them being Zelda's caretaker/bodyguard. Who's to say that the royal family knew all the songs or not? Aside from all that, I really wish the new Zeldas would include finding old relics even if they aren't usable or only have 1 use. Give us that fanfare baby!!! Haha
Even if Termina is a wholly separate, parallel world… Link was in Hyrule at the beginning and the end of the game. He had the ocarina before ever entering Termina, and definitely had it on him as he defeated Majora, so… It definitely came back to Hyrule with him.
I believe link, knowing how dangerous it is may have put it somewhere only he would know. Not wanting anyone to how to go and lose their childhood. He later died in combat and the location is lost to time.
Only he would know what it's like to have your childhood taken by time travel so this makes sense. Also, I have a headcanon (kinda created by Linked Universe) that the Hero of Time hates the master sword due to the whole "going forward seven years and unlocking the sacred realm for ganondorf" thing.
That makes a lot of sense, and since Hero's Shade finally moved on, during the events of Twilight Princess, the Ocarina of Time is completely lost in the Child Timeline. As for the Adult Timeline, the Ocarina of Time was probably destroyed by the Goddesses, when they made the decision to move the citizens of Hyrule to the mountain tops, and wash away the kingdom. They probably feared that Ganondorf would try to misuse the Ocarina of Time, so they also used their powers to destroy it, during the Great Flood.
Maybe he actually mastered the Ocarina to a point where his spirit becomes eternal so he can always watch over his descendant. That may explain how he managed to learn how to master the Golden Wolf Form completely before the first appearence of the Twilight. Maybe he still has the Ocarina with him. That being said, you know when Link transforms into a Wolf, Midna actually uses a shadow thing on him ; she plants it in him if he wants to transform, and gets it out if he wants to get back to human. What if the Hero managed to do the same thing but with a sacred relic (which would explain his golden form) such as the Ocarina? That would explain why he can't let it go as it allows him to howl and answer the call of Link. It could also symbolize the Ocarina in itself : only the wolf form can perform such songs and the stones have been made only for the wolf form, because that's the "2.0 version" of the Ocarina. What do you guys think?
If I may throw in something you overlooked. You only determined what happened to Majorca’s Mask’s version of the ocarina but that’s not the same one use in OOT. Remember Zelda sent Link back in the adult timeline and kept that version. Young Zelda gave Link the one in MM after that. So that leaves the questions what happened to the ocarina in the adult and downfall timelines?
In the downfall timeline, we can trace it (or one that looks suspiciously like it) to A Link to the Past. I agree, this analysis felt like it was cut really short, I hope it gets revisited
At least in the Adult Timeline, there's a huge flood that trapped the majority of Hyrule beneath the water to explain any lost artifacts. Maybe the Ocarina is hidden in Hyrule Castle somewhere, but after The Wind Waker that's a moot point anyway.
Maybe I’m misremembering the ending of OOT, but when Link disappears from the Adult Timeline, everything on him should have, as well. There’s actually a bigger question in why or how the Master Sword remained in the Adult Timeline. Returning the sword (or the Ocarina) as a child in the child timeline has zero effect on the Adult Timeline, so Link’s belongings had no clear logical way to remain once he is removed.
INS4NITY in the Adult timeline we actually do see it!!!!!!!! It’s the flute in a link to the past!!!!!!! And in the adult timeline it’s most likely underneath the ocean!!!!!! So what if, for breath if the wild two, it links all three timelines by having the ocarina in it again????
@@alexandrac6177 Actually, when Link disappears from the Adult Timeline, the last shot we see of Princess Zelda as he ascends up into the air is her holding the ocarina in her hands. Yes, Link and every item he has on him disappear, but the ocarina does not because Zelda took it back (and then used it for that time travel in the first place.) Good point about the Master Sword, though! Link takes it with him to the past and "puts it to rest" there. Usually, Link would go back in time by placing the Master Sword back in the pedestal in the adult timeline. Zelda sending him back with the ocarina caused a bit of a time paradox, because she sends him to a point in time before met her in the courtyard, thus also before he'd ever taken the Master Sword from its pedestal, and then he... puts it back in the pedestal which should already be occupied. Plus, the Door of Time should've been closed because no one had gone to get the Spiritual Stones yet, effectively locking him into that room. =/
My theory is that maybe when the hero of time mastered his golden wolf from, he had an idea, he received help from the Sheikah and the royal family of Hyrule to create howling stones, I think the howling stones are made by Sheikah because of the eye.
Or he dropped it back in termina and couldn’t get back without it? If I remember correctly, an ocarina can protect a Hylian in the Lost Woods. What does a lost adult turn into in the Lost Woods? A Stalfos. What is OoT Link in TP? A Stalfos. Maybe he tried to get it back, but got lost due to not going through in at least 7 years
If I could just throw in my head cannon. At the end of Majora’s Mask, Link and Skull Kid made up and became friends. I believe that before Link left for battle, he went back to the lost woods and gave the ocarina to Skull Kid. If he gave it back to the royal family, there was the risk of a seige and the ocarina could’ve been stolen. Even the Shieka are not immune to corruption, so giving it to them wouldn’t work. Link gave it to the only child who wasn’t just a friend he could trust, but would be the only being in links life who would forever live on when others he knew would die.
I agree that he left it with skull kid. Although I don't believe skull kid ever really came back from Termina. My theory is that since Termina did not have the protection of the three goddesses like Hyrule, link left the ocarina there so they would have the power of the goddess of time should something happen. I feel like skull kid is probably Termina's version of the hero like Lorule had Ravio. I also feel that if he had left it to be kept safe for the next incarnation he would have made some mention of it as the hero's shade. Same if it had been lost in battle. He had to have known where it was and know that it was needed more where he left it, or at least that it was in a place where it couldn't be retrieved.
@@aidenlor5022 Yeah, he was. But remember that EVERY child that gets lost within Lost woods transforms into a skull kid. Same goes for adults that transform into a stalfos. So, the one we meet in tp is probably just a random skull kid since there are more then one. In OOT u met more then one skull kid
Even if the Hero’s Shade has the Ocarina of Time he wouldn’t be able to pass it on to Twilight Link. They aren’t in a physical realm in those lessons. They exist in Link’s mind. The Ocarina rests with the remains of the hero of time possible reclaimed by the lost woods.
I always liked to believe that Link, a little after Majora's Mask couldn't hold the ocarina with him anymore because of all the struggles he went through, and with that couldn't bear the memories attached to the artifact. Before he became a hylian soldier he got rid of the ocarina, his way to start a new life and forget the past, and find justice in what's left of his life. I like to think that he went to the temple of time and placed the ocarina somewhere inside. Since you need the ocarina to open the door that would mean nobody could ever get the artifact as intended by our hero. He doesn't want anyone to go through what he went through
I've seen speedrunners get through the temple door without the ocarina. So it's entirely possible, he left it in there and the side hop jump slashed out.
My headcanon is that he returned it Zelda after the events of Majora's Mask. After returning unsuccessful, but no longer needing it for a future quest. He was then given a place to stay and work with Talon on the Ranch. He eventually grew up with his new bestfriend Malon, growing to love her and eventually starting a family with her. Sometime during his adulthood he either became a royal guard, a Mercenary, or some sort of local town guard not unlike Rusl in Twilight. He was eventually killed by something during some sort of trip through/ mission in the Lost Woods. Transforming into a Stalfos. A tragic end for a husband and a father, who wouldn't get the chance to teach his descendants anything until Twilight where his soul can finally rest in peace.
I love the Malink ship because it makes sense considering the Hero of Twilight (who is a direct descendant of OoT Link) was a ranch hand before all the hero business. Also, the fact that he actually settled down and began an actually peaceful life makes his death even more tragic. Most of the other heroes probably never thought of the prospect of settling down after their main adventure and so would never understand the pain of having to leave a wife and child behind in death.
Since the Ocarina is made out of Time Stone, which have limited energy, perhaps the Ocarina was simply drained of its power after the events of Majora's Mask. It was used to create a 3-day time loop for an unknown amount of repetitions. Therefore, it doesn't come up in any games afterwards, because it is no longer magical. It's simply an instrument.
Interesting point. That could mean that the Ocarina in A Link to the Past is one in the same, but the Time Stone abilities have faded. And since this is in the fallen timeline, its not too much of a stretch that after Link's death, the Ocarina of Time found its way into the hands of a small family in Kakariko. Perhaps the Flute Boy had heard of the ocarina's connection to the royal family, and thought it would aid him in his quest to find the Triforce.
Actually, there isn't proof that the Ocarina is made out of timeshift stones. In fact, the Ocarina doesn't have the time-travel powers of the timeshift stone, the Pedestal of Time and the Door of Time that have that power; and at the end of OoT, Zelda says that, by closing the Door of Time, "[...] the road between times will be closed". Yes, the ocarina have special abilities triggered by playing specific songs and the Door of Time will only open if the Ocarina is used to play the Song of Time, but other than that the Ocarina doesn't do time travel. Although, the idea of the Ocarina from ALttP being the Ocarina of Time is still valid, since that all songs used in OoT and MM (i.e. the songs that triggers special abilities) could be long forgotten by the time A Link to the Past rolls out in the timeline
Well, Ganondorf at the end of Oot cursed Link and Zelda. "Curse you Zelda and curse you Link!". The result is that Zelda was in a world without hero and the result was Hyrule flooded. Link became the Hero Shade because of that curse. It was all done by Ganondorf at the end of Oot.
remember that wind waker takes place in a different timeline than twilight princess. The world was flooded by the gods because ganondorf had no one to stop him.
It would be cool, but how would it fit into the story? Would it be _the_ original Ocarina of Time? Or will there be a brand new Ocarina of Time be made for BOTW2? If Nintendo decides to bring back time travel and the ocarina, I'd imagine that the ancient shiekah would have created a replica of the Ocarina of Time, but it's different in style and functions a little bit differently.
Wouldn't the ocarina of time exist in the other two timelines as well? Zelda had it in the adult timeline after sending Link back. And in Fallen Hero, Ganon or Zelda could have picked it up or it got lost; it does bear a resemblance to the flute from a Link to the Past. With no one to teach any of the magic songs, flute boy wouldn't have known its full potential.
My thoughts were that most of the hero's belongings are in the basement of Link's house in TP, in all those boxes, and I always thought that the Ocarina of time either was there or went back to the royal family after Gannondorf was "sealed" by the sages
A parallel world doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It means you transitioned into a separate spacetime in order to get there... It still exists and may still have direct and indirect affects upon the primary world.
It (Ocarina of Time) literally split the timeline. Think about it. Made three Ganons, even a timeline w/out a hero, the possibilities are endless in terms of creating a parallel world. Link / Royal Family probably wanted to hide or remove the relic from existence, as it can almost guarantee a Ganon in every timeline. And I want to also mention certain items found in TP... like the Hero's Bow from MM.
@@kitkat7074 The ocarina would allow link to play the song of time so he could get the master sword. Which then would hold link in the sacred realm for 7 years. Shiek also says that if he holds the master sword and OoT he holds time.
I think it got destroyed or buried and got built over, or Zelda kept it until she died, which was then buried with her, until it was lost under a town the eventually got destroyed, then built over and destroyed again in BotW. Now it’s just a town that has been completely wiped off the earth, or it’s partly broken and in ruins.
I think there's 2 options. 1: as with most time related items it becomes well theoretically you could go back as far as you wanted and change any event and the developers phased it out for that reason or 2: at some point maybe botw2 or even a later game acquiring it will be a main objective and we will get the knowledge of where it is and why it was absent.
Perhaps Gannondorf's resurrection in BoTW2 brings so much destruction that the only way to prevail will be traveling back in time with the Ocarina to prevent him from being reborn in the first place.
Just a thought I just had, but what if Zelda, who perhaps still knew about the split timeline and how it's her fault, retrieved the ocarina from links body and locked it away or even destroyed it for the damage if had caused and out of rage at her fallen friend. Sorry that was a run on sentence lol
I kind of doubt that. He was obviously still adventuring or fighting when he died. An instrument that can make you teleport, change the time of day/weather, and let you into zora's domain would be pretty useful.
I think it's more possible that the realm he is in, and you train in, could be a timeless realm within the ocarina. The howling stones having the ability to call on the realm with songs it played in the past. It makes sense if you think of the ocarina as an artifact that exists without time constraints and the howling stones as transmitters to be received by the ocarina. My biggest question has always been why he is in that realm but as i think about it more, it may actually be a prison of sorts. The past hero is clearly a stalfos which means in lore that he got himself lost in the lost woods as an adult. However he seems to have complete control instead of being a mindless monster. What if he got lost on purpose to gain immortality to teach a new hero, but it didn't go the way he wanted. He lost his mind and went feral. Was a long battle but ultimately he was sealed inside the ocarina as a way to keep him from hurting others but also to restore his sanity. Could explain the realm, his battered armor, and his stalfos form. Honestly it's a pretty big stretch but i feel like it's a pretty interesting theory.
@Lucas Jean I love how people nock all the Water Temples. Especially Ocarina of Time's Water Temple. For me that temple was one of my favorite temples in that game. Now in terms of hating a Water Temple, I put Twilight Princess's Water template more at the bottom because I had go all the way back up in the one side to get the chest I missed when I was looking for a key I missed. Took me forever because I had to go slow with the iron boots on to get up that high and as a result put this temple at the bottom in that game for me.
I have an idea, the Ocarina of Time could of been hidden away somewhere. Why would the Ocarina of Time be hidden away? Maybe to hide it from people who want to use its power for evil. If it was hidden, that means any time after Ocarina of Time, it could show up again. Here's fun idea on how it could be re-introduced in a new Zelda Game. Maybe it could be hidden in a secret vault the Royal Family used to store previous Links items but it's destroyed and run down leaving all the items destroyed except the Ocarina of Time
I know it's a common theory, but I find the idea of the Hero of Time being killed in combat just feels really sad. I prefer to imagine he maybe bested his opponent and won the fight, but died a few moments later from the battle wounds.
I like to think that link and his squad of soldiers were ambushed while traveling through the lost woods. This leads to a huge battle resulting in everyone but the Hero of Times death. While confused and wounded from the battle he eventually succumbs to his wounds and turns into the Hero's Shade. (Hence the skeleton form)
My hypothesis, sorted by timeline: Adult Timeline: it sank with Hyrule since we last see it in adult Zelda's hands Child Timeline: it was either buried with the Hero of Time or returned to the royal family. Downfall timeline: remember the flute from A Link to the Past and how similar it looked to the Ocarina of Time? It's possible that they could be the same item. Both have magical effects (in ALttP's you literally turn a weathervane into a flying bird with it, one that can fully carry your weight) among other things, so it's possible they could be the same item.
HG: Majora's mask was the last time we see the ocarina... Princess zelda that sent link back in time 7 years so he could go through the events of MM: am I a joke to you? I know I gotcha in "the chosen timeline" but that's is what I thought you were gonna bring up in your "noe before you say..." Speech haha
As soon as I saw the title I knew I had to watch. This has bugged me since Majora's Mask. Thank you so much for coming up with this! I think I better stop talking and watch the video lol. Ok so I've watched the video and I have a theory as to how the Hero do Time died. I think he joined the Hylian soldiers in order to contribute more to protecting Hyrule. One day, an incident involving quite a few monsters happened near the Lost Woods. Link and a few other soldiers went to defeat the monsters, not realising just how powerful they were. After they have been defeated, the monsters leave, not bothering to realise that the Hero of Time isn't dead. But instead of going after the monsters, Link goes into the lost woods. He goes there specifically so that he can try to look for Navi one last time. This is why he is a stalfos and not a spirit. He got lost within the woods and died, never actually finding Navi. I have no true idea as to where the disappearance of the ocarina fits in though. Maybe the monsters came back and ransacked the bodies of the fallen soldiers? I also have no idea as to what monster could have bested Link. Maybe these questions will be solved in a new Zelda game.
Who knows? Ocarina of Time's Link may have received a blow in combat but his belongings may very well be back at his home. This would mean that once Link was dead and his corpse retrieved, probably the royal family, more properly Zelda, took the Ocarina back.
I highly doubt his corpse was retrieved actually. Not many people would know about the Hero of Time due to the time travel loop thingy. Also, he's a stalfos, meaning he died in the Lost Woods. It would practically be impossible to find Link's body without the soldiers sent to retrieve it losing their lives as well. But I have to agree with the fact that Zelda most probably had the ocarina by the time Link died. He might have given it back to her after the events of MM
Or maybe it's too powerful to be destroyed so he just chucked it in the Lost Woods. No one's gonna find it in there. He forgets about it, thousands of years pass and the location of the Lost Woods changes as the landscape also does. Skip to a later hero (HOPEFULLY the Link in BoTW) who has either found himself in possession of the instrument or has to fight a Ganondorf who has managed to get a hold of this magical relic. I just really want to see the ocarina used again in a later game.
The Ocarina of Time would have to be in separate locations depending on the timeline placement. Within the adult timeline, Zelda still has it, and likely holds onto it for the remainder of her days as hyrule's sole ruler. In the child timeline, Zelda gives it to Link before the events of Majora's Mask and he has it likely up to his death before Twilight Princess and his body is believed to never be found, therefore, the Ocarina is lost forever. Lastly, in the downfall timeline, Link has the Ocarina on him before his demise and Zelda potentially dies or flees. There's always the chance Zelda loots the Ocarina from him, Ganon steals it, or it is simply lost forever on his corpse. In any case, the Ocarina is very likely lost in each timeline
5 howling stones feature n64 songs from oot and mm but one for some reason features the ballade of gales from windwaker where the hero of time was erased from by zelda sending him back.
Idc what other people say. He thought he could kill ganon due to his skill and having beat him before, but was slayed because he did not have the master sword. This took place in the hyrulian civil war. I love your channel along woth nintendo black crisis zeltik and one more i forgots name
Whatever it was nearly destroyed that shield it seems; Must have been powerful. Was that something that happened in Hyrule Warriors? I always wanted to beat that, but it feels grindy af.
@@daggerthedragon1582 Hyrule Warriors (HW) isn't "canon" to the timeline anyway, but even if it was, HW Link is not the Hero of Time. He doesn't get killed in the story, either.
@@Solibrae but HW does feature many links, including the Hero of Time. Even Linkle lol. I was just wondering about Brad's theory on the Civil War. It's hard to kill the hero of time in combat, in the war that took place while he was an infant.

Another great theory vid, the mystery of where the Ocarina of Time is now sure is a compelling mystery... Hopefully it’ll be resolved in a future Zelda installment IF Nintendo EVER decides to revisit that!
He's in stal form so it stands to reason that he got lost in the lost woods as an adult. As ridiculous as it seems it's the only bit of lore that explains how someone turns into a stal in Ocarina of Time. Adults turn into stalfos and children turn into skull kids if lost in the lost woods. Sadly that would most likely mean that he did it on purpose to obtain a quasi immortality to teach the next incarnation everything he knew. The real question is how did he keep his mind intact while being a stalfos, and why doesn't he take a more physical form instead of transporting you to some small realm for training. The only thing i can think of is that the realm itself was what allowed him to stay sane and "alive". Upon finishing the training, the realm probably vanished along with him. No realm means no power to keep him around. Next question is of course, What is this realm and how did he access it.
It's been a very long time since I played Twilight Princess, but there is a gravestone in Hyrule Castle that is guarded by some spirits, and the game suggests that's his gravestone. My take is that it's possible it was buried with him. That, or he hid it away somewhere where nobody could use its powers and cause even more of a mess to the timeline (if he was even aware of it splitting).
I think this whole theory makes sense when it comes to the Child timeline, but what happened to it in the Adult timeline, in the flooded Hyrule ? Did it stay under the sea , in the ancient Hyrule ? And for the Fallen timeline, is it kept by the royal family/or Ganon ? The hero of time was defeated... so what happened to the Ocarina ?
I think he destroyed it cause it was only a danger to the kingdom as it is the one thing that could open the door of time. If he didn't, ganondorf could get his hands on the triforce of power again.
Most likely the royel family has it, after returning to hyrule from Termina, he probably gave it back with the imediate threat of Ganon's betrayal gone, and a war looming on the horizon.
Maybe he gave it to the Skull Kid for safekeeping I like to think that when we hear saria's song at the end of majora is actually skull kid playing it maybe with the ocarina of time aaaand I also like to think that hes the same one that guides the hero of twilight through the sacred grove...
That's how skull kid knows Saria's song in TP! OoT Link taught him the song using the ocarina and skull kid then used that same song to guide the Hero of Time's ancestor to the master sword. It all makes sense now lol
I love the legend of zelda series also when i discovered some years ago theorists like you i was feeling awesome cuz i wasnt the only one who was wondering stuff that weren't explained keep going the good work
@@meking1808 yeah its just one of my favorite series my personal favorite zelda game is the 2nd one i ever played the wind waker the first was twilight princess when i was 7 years old it was good but the wind waker is something special
Wolf link howls were the worst use of a “musical instrument” it sounded like garbage. I couldn’t believe Nintendo gave it the okay and actually put those nail on chalkboard sounds in the game.
I love this theory, and if it's true then Zelda must have created 2 Ocarinas when she sent link back to his original time. Will you do your next video on what happened to the other ocarina of time? Surely lost beneath the great sea, but why wasn't it used to save Hyrule once again?
Yay! A theory on my favorite game! Great theory also! And Oot was your favorite game once?! I just went and watched your first vid, and hearing that Oot was your favorite game was surprising....and the fact that you didn’t even mention TP was also surprising.....
Oh wow! I never really thought about the possibility, I always thought something around the lines that the sheika retrieved the ocarina from the hero of time seeing as the howling stones have the sheika mark on them and they are used to pass his technics over to the next hero
The fact that the Sheikah clan is shown to be behind most of what’s happening with the stones, and the fact they play a huge role in Breath of the Wild, maybe they have been preserving all of the relics. This could be further explained in the upcoming sequel. Since it’s odd that there was no use of music in the initial game.
Majoras mask is a dream world. All the references to ocarina of time, it seems like a weird dream and he got knocked out and had is ocarina stolen by skull kid.
I was about to say, it almost felt like the theory about how Link died was factual to a point where I felt like even you should know it, then you mentioned it and I was kinda mind-blown. Good theory! Congrats on 40k subs btw!
I remember one time go people in BOTW we’re like this is cool glitch that you can do to avoid taking fall damage if you run out of stamina while gliding even know if you run out of stamina while gliding on your paraglider if you press the button again even with no stamina you pull out and paraglider for a few frames and reset your fall distance and take no fall damage
Link got back from Termina where he had picked up a love for electric guitar. When he got one in Hyrule he threw the OoT out like he did to the Fairy Ocarina. He wrote songs called "If asking doesn't work, Triforce" and "Hyut Hut Hyyaa!" with lyrics like "Married to a fish, sinking lures in a cowgirl. She got pregnant, I gotta leave town girl. My Master Sword's for killing." His music was so bad that it dissolved Demises curse... the fourth timeline fizzled out after that.
7:29 You're assuming that Ocarina Link fell to something that Twilight Link wouldn't also have been "absolutely destroyed" by as well. Congrats on the subs! :) Edit. Theory: He returned it to Zelda.
The Hero's Shade plays off the fact that Hylians who get lost in the Lost Woods become Stalfos. The imagery of the Stalfos has changed from OOT/MM to TP but overall he even has the rounded shield to drive this a little further.
SO COOL! And it makes sense too! (Unlike the the link is ded in majoras mask one...) i think it would be a little funny if he just lost it in his massive inventory...
Yeah, that's right, only Link knew all the Ocarina songs! Oh wait he learned them all from Sheik. And before you mention that the Song of Healing is also one of the songs, I can also point to the Song of Storms. If the Song of Storms can exist in Termina, then the Song of Healing can exist in Hyrule.
I have a video idea for you! Connect terrako!!! The musical sheikah tech that can can travel through time ;) i think the Ocarina could have been turned into that egg! Since you already know from the howling stones that the sheikah knew about flute and its magical songs! Incorperating it into a sentient egg for future use would be brillient
It'd be interesting if in a future Zelda game part of the main quest was to find and recover the Ocarina of Time, or if it was purposefully hidden for a future hero as a trial or something. Not necessarily likely, but it'd be cool. Also, this theory does make sense, but I found the howling stones to be odd, like, why were they made? It wouldn't have happened by chance. What if the Shekiah warned the Hero in Time that he'd fall in battle so he made a back up plan for if he couldn't teach the next hero, but he still thought he had more time to train his kids, so that's why he was regretful? I still have lots of questions, but hey, that's part of the fun lol
I have always thought that sometime betweeen OOT/MM and BOTW the ocarina was recovered or given back, but was then stolen by Misko from BOTW, and unlike the other treasures left by Misko in the DLC and main game, was lost forever/taken by Misko when they left for somewhere other than Hyrule.
Finally someone tries to answer my question! Also I think Link either kept it in a special box in Lon Lon, or gave it back to Zelda because he'd have no use for it.
Good video. I can see how it was destroyed in battle. I have this funny idea that Link destroyed it himself after one too many time travel adventures. Maybe one of his descendants took the Ocarina for their own adventure, and it is in a far off place and/or time.
Hear me out here. What if OOT link, wasn't able to avoid his destiny of dying, even after rewinding time like he's done in M.M., and he wasn't able to teach his child, because his child was a daughter, not capable of fighting. Knowing the hero of time, he pulled a Wind Waker, and broke the Ocarina into 7 ( or was it 8 ) pieces after going back to the past. And used the Zelda/Sheilk's Sheikah tech/skills to convert the goddess power from the OOT into the stones. The power of those stones were able to transfer TP's link's conscious into that realm, that way, he could teach his grandson ( or great grandson ) Either he went to the past, or he wasn't able to go back to the past, died and Zelda/Sheik retrieved back the OOT, broke it, and created those howling stones ( since Sheikahs apparently can tell the future, like in Botw's shrines, and W.W's tower of gods ) and since spirits in Zelda games tend to live on if they have regrets, perhaps he was able to travel into those 7 howling stones and speak with TP Link. Side Note: I feel like OOT's link died while trying to use the Mortal Draw, since he emphasized on how deadly it is, and that the last 2 techniques were not as risky. Side-Side Note: A Motral Draw can kill a Mortal Draw, and since a Dark-Link pretty much mirrored the original Link's moves..... Maybe?? lol Then again, Crop Hammer.
@Hyrule Gamer between OoT, and TP there is both a war and a sealing, both come from back story in TP, one the war with Ganon after the hero of time ratted him out on planning to betray his fealty, and the sealing of ganon into the Twilight realm.
I think the fact that the Song of Healing appears in TP via the Howling Stones gives credence to the events of Majora’s Mask being significant in the overall timeline/story, whether they “happened for real” or not. Even if it physically didn’t happen and it was all a dream world that Link still had the memories of the masks and the songs, etc and apparently passed some of it on. Also Majora’s Mask in BOTW (I know it’s a fun DLC bonus, but still, they didn’t have to put it in there but they did)
After reading through all these comments, I think I theorized the perfect explanation. He played the song of Rickrolling one too many times and the villagers crushed it into a fine powder.

I came to the comments to mentions how this video is great for the child timeline but what about the adult timeline and where the ocarina could be during The Wind Waker but you beat me to it
That's actually a valid point.
I mean, the fallen hero also possesed the ocarina when defeated. Therefore, the ocarina also exists in the defeated timeline. Question is, who took it when Link was defeated? The only two there were Zelda and Ganon.
And this is why I check the comments before commenting anything as you already made the point good sir
Wait so there’s no ocarina in the downfall timeline split
I always figured when Link returned to Hyrule after Majora's Mask, he gave it back to Zelda and the royal family
And also, that it wasn't brought up in Twilight Princess because there was no need for it and it was just forgotten altogether in BOTW since it's been well over 10,000 years.
@@dalesprague5500 pretty vague because ganondorf would never forget it.
He never returned. He died.
@@misterturkturkle No, he did return. He became a soldier/knight for Hyrule Kingdom and died in battle.
“There are no major wars between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.”
Me: *Points to the Arbiter’s Grounds.*
Uh... Ordon Village exists because of people fleeing from the war that Ganondorf started because Link told the king about his plans to betray Hyrule.
How were there no major wars?
@@jesterblackguarde8464 He was quoting what Hyrule Gamer said in the video.
Haha
@@Fastmn25 Thats a lot of extra steps as opposed to Link already knowing all the songs.
Even if Termina is a wholly separate, parallel world… Link was in Hyrule at the beginning and the end of the game. He had the ocarina before ever entering Termina, and definitely had it on him as he defeated Majora, so… It definitely came back to Hyrule with him.
And if the downfall is just the adult timeline but Link dies and Gannon wins then there is an Ocarina missing there too!
I believe link, knowing how dangerous it is may have put it somewhere only he would know. Not wanting anyone to how to go and lose their childhood. He later died in combat and the location is lost to time.
I have to agree.
Only he would know what it's like to have your childhood taken by time travel so this makes sense. Also, I have a headcanon (kinda created by Linked Universe) that the Hero of Time hates the master sword due to the whole "going forward seven years and unlocking the sacred realm for ganondorf" thing.
But if ever it is needed he can contact the current hero With some form like King Rhoam Maybe it could come back in BOTW 2
Ironic.
That's really good ! I really like this one
Ok this is actually really cool
Ok that’s probably my new opinion now 😂
I am looking forward to watch zelda theories from Bull ;)
Yes, Link and every item he has on him disappear, but the ocarina does not because Zelda took it back (and then used it for that time travel in the first place.)
Good point about the Master Sword, though!
Have you noticed that the howling stones look just like the gossip stones, just with a hole in the middle...
Or he dropped it back in termina and couldn’t get back without it? If I remember correctly, an ocarina can protect a Hylian in the Lost Woods. What does a lost adult turn into in the Lost Woods? A Stalfos. What is OoT Link in TP? A Stalfos. Maybe he tried to get it back, but got lost due to not going through in at least 7 years
@@shocck1 An ocarina can protect a hylian in the lost woods ? And any ocarina ? Where did you heard that ?
@@shocck1 Shade is a ghost though, stalfos are not.
Or maybe the howling stones are just broken Gossip stones... just an idea
@@jonathancrouch7693 but wasn't skullkid in TP?
@@aidenlor5022 Yeah, he was. But remember that EVERY child that gets lost within Lost woods transforms into a skull kid. Same goes for adults that transform into a stalfos. So, the one we meet in tp is probably just a random skull kid since there are more then one. In OOT u met more then one skull kid
So the Skull Kid in Twilight Princess... Does it work like Majora's Mask where it holding the Ocarina morphs it into the trumpets it uses?
@@capricontra it is the same one he even elludes to being his friend
Even if the Hero’s Shade has the Ocarina of Time he wouldn’t be able to pass it on to Twilight Link. They aren’t in a physical realm in those lessons. They exist in Link’s mind.
The Ocarina rests with the remains of the hero of time possible reclaimed by the lost woods.
Okay, I like a lot of the theories in the vivid and comments so far, but this one makes the most sense to me.
most reasonable theory tbh, no reason to think links remains were ever found.
But remember that the Master Sword was a part of the Temple of Time, I feel like and in BotW the Temple of Time is in ruins
This actually makes sense. Keep it in the Temple so no one would be able to get at it. This is a good theory!
Hyrule Gamer: “Be sure to grab yourself a snack or drink and let’s get started”
Me who just ate: Sigh*... fine
Most of the other heroes probably never thought of the prospect of settling down after their main adventure and so would never understand the pain of having to leave a wife and child behind in death.
i think he turned it into a bong then he smoked himself into the realm of breath of the wild

good idea
Hey don’t knock it; I own a ocarina and I have through of that idea once.
@@LiveNiceness14 same actually
Yes. That’s how we solve the timeline!
That's a really good point.
@@Pedro_Marangon I think you forget Majora's Mask. The ocarina is definitely used to travel through time in that game.
@@dominicmoras4283 Oh yeah, i forgot the Majora's Mask time travel lol
Well, Ganondorf at the end of Oot cursed Link and Zelda. "Curse you Zelda and curse you Link!". The result is that Zelda was in a world without hero and the result was Hyrule flooded. Link became the Hero Shade because of that curse. It was all done by Ganondorf at the end of Oot.

If Nintendo decides to bring back time travel and the ocarina, I'd imagine that the ancient shiekah would have created a replica of the Ocarina of Time, but it's different in style and functions a little bit differently.
@@CoolBeanSoup the only way it could help is if zelda found it after link gets killed by ganondorf and turns back time. That would be cool
That's one possibility
Actually the ocarina of time doesn't actually make timeline splits
@@kitkat7074 The ocarina would allow link to play the song of time so he could get the master sword. Which then would hold link in the sacred realm for 7 years. Shiek also says that if he holds the master sword and OoT he holds time.
I think it got destroyed or buried and got built over, or Zelda kept it until she died, which was then buried with her, until it was lost under a town the eventually got destroyed, then built over and destroyed again in BotW. Now it’s just a town that has been completely wiped off the earth, or it’s partly broken and in ruins.
Also hi other early person we were here before this blew up.
He probably had no use for it and tucked it away somewhere.
That's possible, maybe?
@Lucas Jean Imagine Nintendo doing something like that for Breath of the Wild 2. Like "You want better dungeons, here you go."
@Lucas Jean
I love how people nock all the Water Temples.
Maybe it could be hidden in a secret vault the Royal Family used to store previous Links items but it's destroyed and run down leaving all the items destroyed except the Ocarina of Time
If they add this to BoTW 2 I will literally scream because that would be absolutely amazing
Or just have the other items behind sequentially bigger rocks that you need more and more powerful gauntlets to move, or bombs or the like.

Yeah, I hope that's what happened. Gives Link a bit of dignity during his final moments
Hello there Arthur Pendragen.
The real question is what happen to the Kokiri Ocarina Saria gave him. It vanishes out of your inventory when you get the OoT.
My hypothesis, sorted by timeline:
Adult Timeline: it sank with Hyrule since we last see it in adult Zelda's hands
Child Timeline: it was either buried with the Hero of Time or returned to the royal family.
Imagine the conversation between Ganondorf and the Rock, now that would be funny

@@meking1808 Is he a Stafos or does he simply resemble one? (I've never played Twilight Princess.)
Maybe Link destroyed the Ocarina because it's such a dangerous instrument

@@goggles8691 ganon stealing the power link has earned through hard fought battles and making the power his, and link has to fight even harder battles to earn more power to fight his own older power inside of ganon
Another great theory vid, the mystery of where the Ocarina of Time is now sure is a compelling mystery...
Hopefully it’ll be resolved in a future Zelda installment IF Nintendo EVER decides to revisit that!
Thanks :D
Maybe that's why the Ocarina is gone, he found a song that allowed him to give it up to create that realm?
It's been a very long time since I played Twilight Princess, but there is a gravestone in Hyrule Castle that is guarded by some spirits, and the game suggests that's his gravestone. My take is that it's possible it was buried with him. That, or he hid it away somewhere where nobody could use its powers and cause even more of a mess to the timeline (if he was even aware of it splitting).
I’m still watching, but if we know that hero of time link was struck down, whoever killed him probably grabbed the ocarina?
I think this whole theory makes sense when it comes to the Child timeline, but what happened to it in the Adult timeline, in the flooded Hyrule ? Did it stay under the sea , in the ancient Hyrule ? And for the Fallen timeline, is it kept by the royal family/or Ganon ? The hero of time was defeated... so what happened to the Ocarina ?
Plot twist: Sakon stole it.
Congrats on 40k subs! You deserve it.
I love the legend of zelda series also when i discovered some years ago theorists like you i was feeling awesome cuz i wasnt the only one who was wondering stuff that weren't explained keep going the good work
One of the reasons I love Zelda so much. So many mysteries to uncover that lead to me (and plenty of other fans) wanting so much more.
Me too, brilliant series!
I agree. Great concept, poor implementation.
2 minutes before you loaded it, I was sadly wondering when it would finally come😂
I love this theory, and if it's true then Zelda must have created 2 Ocarinas when she sent link back to his original time. Will you do your next video on what happened to the other ocarina of time? Surely lost beneath the great sea, but why wasn't it used to save Hyrule once again?
Didn't she use the OoT to send Link back to the child timeline?
Yes, that's how she created the 2 Ocarina(s) of Time(s). Lol
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
Link: steals Zelda's Ocarina
Also Link: doesn't elaborate, like a Chad
Hyrule gamer can I get a reply your one of my favorite youtubers and it would make my day
Now this video is amazing, I mean who EVER thinks about where the Ocarina Of Time went and congrats of 40k HG
I love ocarina of time. It’s my second favorite.
Yay! A theory on my favorite game! Great theory also! And Oot was your favorite game once?! I just went and watched your first vid, and hearing that Oot was your favorite game was surprising....and the fact that you didn’t even mention TP was also surprising.....
Oh hello there
Oh wow! I never really thought about the possibility, I always thought something around the lines that the sheika retrieved the ocarina from the hero of time seeing as the howling stones have the sheika mark on them and they are used to pass his technics over to the next hero
most of my comments get like by HG so this one is an experiment.
Your comment is bad, and you should feel bad.
ME AND JERREN WERE FIRST 2 YAAAY REMEMBER ME HYRULE GAMER IF ANYBODY SAYS THEY WERE SECOND THEIR WRONG
Lol
Majoras mask is a dream world. All the references to ocarina of time, it seems like a weird dream and he got knocked out and had is ocarina stolen by skull kid.
It was bsically the 3D Links Awakening.
First
Darn it you beat meeeeee
There still is the ocarina of time that zelda used to put link back into the child timeline, and that ocarina went with zelda to the adult timeline.
You said "I believe this is the works of-" and then a ad cut you off and completed the sentence with "proper humidity level" and I'm in tears 😂😂😂😂😂
Congrats on 40k subs! And great video as always :)
Thank you! :D
@@HyruleGamer No you! You're the one making videos for us!
My Master Sword's for killing."
His music was so bad that it dissolved Demises curse... the fourth timeline fizzled out after that.
:0
7:29 You're assuming that Ocarina Link fell to something that Twilight Link wouldn't also have been "absolutely destroyed" by as well.
Congrats on the subs! :)
Edit.
Theory: He returned it to Zelda.
Thanks :D
Congrats on 40k!! :)
Thank you!
OoT always brings so much fuxking nostalgia to me.. Majora's Mask as well, but Ocarina was absoulutely INCREDIBLE for me..
Tru
Liked right off the bat. This is good content
7:29 this is one of the reasons why your the best lolololol. STEP ASIDE OCARINA!! (at least in my opinion anyway)
If they even left for non-hyrule lands
This question has been on my mind for awhile. Thank you for this video
No problem, thanks for watching!
I've been wondering for weeks about this, and some other Important items!
The power of those stones were able to transfer TP's link's conscious into that realm, that way, he could teach his grandson ( or great grandson )
Either he went to the past, or he wasn't able to go back to the past, died and Zelda/Sheik retrieved back the OOT, broke it, and created those howling stones ( since Sheikahs apparently can tell the future, like in Botw's shrines, and W.W's tower of gods ) and since spirits in Zelda games tend to live on if they have regrets, perhaps he was able to travel into those 7 howling stones and speak with TP Link.
“The work of... the qeusolope taco” these ads are perfectly timed😂
@Hyrule Gamer between OoT, and TP there is both a war and a sealing, both come from back story in TP, one the war with Ganon after the hero of time ratted him out on planning to betray his fealty, and the sealing of ganon into the Twilight realm.
Maybe Oot link can come back with the ocarina of time?
I like the way you say “relic”
Thanks lol
Always a question I had personally. Great job
Thanks!
