    I just bought a Taylor 814ce deluxe!!!
    So excited... I have never bought anything so quality for myself...
    I play my guitars daily... but have never played anything in this class...
    I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of years now...
    it was your channel that helped me decide the perfect guitar for me...
    Thanks 😊

      I know it's a year since you wrote this but...I recently picked up a 114ce and feel exactly the same! The quality, the tone, is almost like a different instrument from any guitar I've played.

    I have both models. Rhythm strumming for live gigging at bars and clubs, the 614CE has the widest range of bass, mids and highs when plugged in. When I run open mics, people often ask to use my 614CE instead of their own. The 814CE is very boomy in the lows, especially the E chord. I find it difficult when plugged in to EQ it to the full range I can get with the 614CE. I'm sure I could eventually get it close to the 614CE, but I don't even have to mess much with the Expression system to get a great overall sound on the 614CE. Both play very well mic'd and acoustically. The action on both are great. I would say the 814CE is better suited for someone accomplished with fingerstyle guitar who wants warm deep tones. I've had both guitars for over 15 years. My 614CE is closer to 20 years and just this past month is the first time I've had to have work done on the electronics. So it's pretty duarable with constant use. The 814CE is my fallback. No issues yet with it either.

    I bought a 614ce in 2016. I was blown away buy the beautifully balanced tone, and I was comparing it to an 814ce also. I loved the look of it so much more and the playability was the best I’d ever felt on a guitar. But as the years go on and the guitar has aged some, the tone is significantly warmed and I feel like the torifide top is a big contribution to this. I promise you guys, the 614ce is the best guitar of the two and you will love it forever if you get one

      @@feliceconte123 Lots of good info. Thank you.
      I've been looking into buying Taylor and watching comparison videos, either between two Taylor guitars or between Taylor and Martin, the Taylor's don't have the low end my ears wants to hear.
      I have a Martin GPCPA14 and I love the low full tone, the onboard EQ and tuner (both on the top, NOT in the sound hole which the recent Martins all have now which seems like a ridiculous place to have it)
      The problem I have with the Martin is the binding has been coming off! I can't believe it. Doing research on bindings separating from there body, they were all Martins!
      Going on my third repair!
      So I've been looking to go Taylor but again I need to hear better bass.
      Do you know which Taylor models have the best low end response? I need Acoustic/Electric with cutaway.

    I'm ready to buy but I just can't decide. It's been really hard because I live in KC and there are no guitar shops anymore that carry one of each series to compare. I have played several 814 guitars and they just don't give as much response as a player as the 700 or 600 series. But again, I've not been able to compare them on the same day. Those comparisons are years apart. I wish there were a place within driving distance to do a real comparison. Thank you for these videos. I've watched them all and they're helpful.

    As an owner of the new 614ce v class I am partial to it sounding better to me but "better" is subjective lol. I played a few 814's at the store I bought mine from and the one thing I kept thinking was the 814's neck felt like my hand didn't want to slide as easy as the one single 614 I played. I don't know if it was in my head but I swear the 614's neck was way smoother.

    I liked the 814 more than I thought I would. I’m not a fan of huge bass (I don’t need a D-35) but this 814 was just enough. My experience is that Taylor’s tend to sound more treble-ey and this rosewood box hits a sweet spot.

      @wladimirsteinbrecher1074 5 лет назад +1

      Babur Sherazi Yes I have!
      I fully agree with you, that 600 series of Taylor songs quite different compared to most maple back guitars.
      I compared by myself 614ce, 714ce, 814ce and 914ce with V and X braising.
      On 614ce I cold not identify significant differences, but other guitars with V braising are with much dynamic and overtones. I could listen an feel intensive vibrations on my body. On my humble opinion additionally to 600 series I would prefer 714ce and 814ce with V braising.
      I would recommend you do test the guitars by yourself in one Taylor shop 😁

You could even do a 4 way shootout if you have the guitars in the shop (614ce, 614ce Builder's edition, 814ce and 814ce BE), that would, not only be awesome content but enormously helpful for people that are torn between these and have no option other than ordering guitars online (I live in a small town).

    I have a 2001 614-ce and a 2013 914-ce. From other videos, it sounds like the 614 is better for mic'd situations and the 914 for pure acoustic due to the better bass balance on the 914. But these videos are all with V-class bracing. Obviously the wood characteristics remain, but any thoughts on how the X-class bracing changes things in those particular models?

      Fair point. The sound doesn’t seem quite right. Not up to Alamo Music Centre’s videos usual standards. I think the nano web sounds a little more even, but it’s very subtle, I wouldn’t put them on just for that... after changing string brands pretty ridiculously I’ve settled on the elixirs nano web, they just sound better for a lot longer... that’s my take on it...

I order a custom set with the following gauges: .013 - .017 - .025w .034 - .054 - .056 and tune my 614ce down to D. The deep bass from the increased string size goes well with the bright sound from the maple.

    I played a 714 recently and was very disappointed (I had really high hopes too). First, the guitar wasn't set up well. Action was too high. Disappointing. Where are the Taylor reps? Second, the guitar felt stiff which not what I expected from a 12 fret. Finally, the sound just wasn't very rich IMO. I have a Guild F50R which, granted, has a very lush full sound. But I also found that my Guild feels easier to play than the 714. I guess I just fell in love all over again with my old sweetheart.

    I don't like either one. They don't have any fundamental note, it's all overtone to my ears. I like Taylor's , they build great guitars but the higher end series I don't like the voicing. They sound thin. That's my two cents.

    • @GeroLubovnik
      @GeroLubovnik 7 лет назад +3

      Get a GOOD 614ce in your hands and you might change your mind. Martins have great fundamental tones, but the overtones tend to be a hair on the flat side. Taylors, OTOH tend to be shimmery because the harmonics are more in tune with the fundamentals and create more resultant harmonics. If you haven't noticed, Martin's NEW D28 is chasing Taylor's sound and feel.

    • @TheJoshSchneider
      @TheJoshSchneider 7 лет назад +1

      GeroLubovnik they would sound better too if they were finished in nitro instead of polyester. It makes a difference. The other video is better, the one where he has an 814 ce plugged in to a Fishman loud box. I do like the Taylor sound don't get me wrong. They sound so pretty. They did not get to where they are by making junk. They play better than martins too. Guitar building is probably one of the hardest things to be successful at. I believe Robert Taylor came out with the grand auditorium body style in the early 90's. Its the best body style of all. I like the shimmering sound of Taylor. This particular video does not sound right. I'm not hearing enough fundamentals. Perhaps because their not mahogany back and sides.

      I get what your saying but it's weird, I heard every note clearly and precisely on the 814 but the 614 did not have that same crispness or singleness of note to my ear. I thought the 8 series sounded great and was quite a bit better tonally than the 6 series.

      I have both. D28 & 614CE. They both have their use. Different, but love them both!@@GeroLubovnik

    HEY!!! i bought stuff from y'all off reverb. GREAT!!! people to deal with, above and beyond service, and that was an online order, obviously... i didn't even buy much either, just a couple really small things and they went out of their way. i'll definitely be dealing with these guys more in the future.
