I would also like to hear how the guitar sounds when the picking is in the center of the soundhole instead of closer to the bridge. The guitar has a beautiful, clear, sustaining sound, but picking it closer to the neck would show how it might also have more low frequencies. Interesting guitar and video -- Thanks!
My main axe now. Love it, but I would add that it really is amazing with Medium/Lt phosphor bronze strings as opposed to the light guage that comes standard on it. I have a vintage Guild which sounds incredible, but this is much more functional with similar sound.
I bought an 812ce a few days ago. Thought it was a builder's edition. Going to exchange it for the 612ce Builders Edition soon (same price as the 812). Fair winds and following seas to all.
I prefer the performance x bracing on the 600 series Taylor guitars to preserve the lower frequency bassiness that I think maple tone woods benefit from.
I played the new V-class 614ce (not builder's edition) and noticed it was more "balanced" than the previous 614s I played, which emphasized the base. I really loved that base. Still, it's a great guitar, but I'm considering going with 314ce to save some dough.
I played a v class 614ce yesterday. I have to say, one size does not fit all. The x braced 614ce was sweet but to me the new V class offered nothing I was interested in. Needless to say, I did not play it long. The 914ce and the 714ce V class did impress me. The 814ce V class that I played was very weak on bass response. Maybe just that guitar but again, not something I would own. I do have a x braced 814ce Brazilian that sounds amazing. As I said, one size does not fit all. I suspect we will see the 614 ce redesigned at some point as I can't see many people buying such a weak guitar.
Keith Mahorney - the original 614ce with performance x bracing is Andy Powers’ masterpiece. I love it! The v bracing may benefit other models but not this one.
Hearing a bit more "harshness" in the trebles than in some of the other newer 614s I've played. Love the look, the bevels, and so on, but I think it lacks a certain richness I want to hear. I'm not sure of the cost of this, but I would gravitate more to the 814 DLX over this.
I think I’m gonna have to do my own video about this guitar without a taylor representative putting his viewpoint over everything. I’ve had one of these for about a year now, and though it does have its place and uses, if you compare this guitar to a decent dreadnought guitar, tonally it’s night and day, personally I think far too many tonal sacrifices have been made in the name of comfort of playability.
haha yeah it's like the chef is looking over your shoulder as you taste the food. What is one supposed to say? I don't doubt though that this guitar is magnificent.
Ahhh, the ever helpful, very knowledgable Eric Sakamoto, in Bozeman nonetheless. If you would've waited a coupla' months Eric, you could've gotten some skiing in. While more of a traditionalist (read: acoustic "Victorian"), preferring 1) Rosewood 2) Mahogony, Spruce, this actually sounds very good (or is that just the Doc!), despite the absence of more bass, but offering greater clarity on mid to upper range.
You know I didn't like the 614ce at first but I went and played this guitar again and I actually fell in love with it,So now I have a 2015 614 ce and a 2019 614 ce Builders edition v brace,Plus five more Taylors guitars and My Martin Gibson and Epiphone so I guess I just love guitars.
Great playing, Quinton! Good job all.

Sean Saulsbury I bought the 614ce x braced version when I heard they were changing over to the v brace.

Good move in my opinion.

After having played that Guitar for quite sometime, think I like it better without the pick. It sounds great for finger picking.
Jonahs Liwag meron ba nyan sa pinas tol? :)
PAKY KENNELS Im not sure. Sa Guitar Center Arlington ko nakuha yung akin Bro.

Taylor needs to hire Quinton for the roads shows ! What a grand player 😊
Yup. Eric's actually a VERY good player, however, 2400 round-trip miles away!
This guitar needs nothing. It is missing one thing. ME OWNING IT!
Thank you guys sold me on it lol now the old lady to deal with lol jking
Excellent music!! Nice guitar!!)
Just bought a 314ce x braced. A dream of a guitar. Every v braced model in the taylor line sounds too thin.
The 314ce x braced is a workhorse for sure. Played one for years. Smart choice. Enjoy.
@@keithmahorney129 thanks I will 👍
