I think the glossy side should face down for the exit of the filtrate

That's correct! The sample enters through the dull side facing up, and the filtrate exits through the glossy side facing down, as shown in the video.

So the glossier side of membrane is the inlet filter for vacuum filtration?
    Please reply. Thankyou

When using a Durapore PVDF membrane, orientation does not affect performance. However, for asymmetric membranes such as the PES Express PLUS® filter, position the dull side facing upward to allow the sample to flow through, while the shiny side faces downward for the filtrate to exit.

What are side effects if solvents

The side effects - solvent compatibility - will depend on the membrane material and the solvent used. Please head to our site to learn more: ms.spr.ly/6056lPZKG (ensure the correct country is selected in the top right corner)

On a PFDV membrane which side is up?

PVDF membranes are not strictly asymmetrical; they filter through a "tortuous path" and therefore do not exhibit sidedness (both sides look the same). Our Durapore membranes are made from PVDF. 0:47
