With portforwarding, do we need to change any of the ports in the start bat file? I'm setting up a dedicated server so I can play on PlayStation.

Does ark have to be installed? was trying to run on a laptop with small storage capacity like 250gb, cant seem to free more than 60gb. Also curious how I tell it to run with mods or if I will need a server manager for that?

I play on PC using Gamepass for PC, all my friends play on Xbox (also using Gamepass)
We currently play on an unofficial server, but man, it has SO MANY rules, build restrictions, etc.
We are considering renting one, but it is $15/mo... but split between us is not bad.
I have a friend that has a nice PC but travels a lot for work, he doesn't even have Ark, but he volunteered to host a server.
Or if my friends and I buy a cheap old PC and make that host it. Does the host PC have to be a gaming PC or can it be a cheap office $200.00 or less PC?
How much data does it use? On our area Comcast/Xfinity has a 1TB data cap.
Does that computer ONLY run server? As in.... can't use it to play anything else?

followed your guide step by step and when i went to launch the server it keeps giving me an error idk if the issue is windows 11 or what but i have deleted everything 3 times and done it again with no luck
The little command window that shows if the server is running hasn't changed in maybe 20 minutes, did I do something wrong?

Hello, my friend opened a local server and when he entered the server, the graphics were worse than I have ever seen. When he enters on another server or in single player, it is quite normal. But when he opens a local server, no matter what we do, it does not improve. Can you suggest a solution?

The server is listed and I can see it, enter password, but when I click join it takes a long while then gives me an error message saying "Joining failed, Connection Timeout", any idea what is going on?

Would you happen to know of any way to disable friendly fire? it says to put it in the game.ini file, but every time I do it erases the changes on server startup

I'm getting an error of XAPOFX1_5.dll wasn't found as well as X3DAudio1_7.dll wasn't found any suggestions? ive already reran the update file as well as started the whole process from scratch but still get same error
update on this, I searched directx redistributable and downloaded the direct x end user setup. once that ran all files were found and server started up

I've tried 4 different videos about ark dedicated servers and i always get the same, i can join and play but no one else can even see the server, and i just cant find anything about it on google, and i have done port forwarding

@jonasrasmmusen6458 I've contacted my internet provider and they said i don't have a public ip address and would need to pay an additional fee monthly to get it. Since i live with my parents and they don't want that my friends and i just rented a server

It use to, I haven't checked in to see if they changed it now.
I dont know if i did something wrong, but the server does not appear on my friends servers list, it only shows on my own lan server list, even if I share the IP with them they cant connect

sounds like a firewall issue, did you forward the ports?
when i run the updater the ark survival evolved dedicated server folder is empty Edit: i fixed it i have a 250gb SSD and the server file is 18 gb

from my understanding that could be a port forwarding issue.
Your firewall can be causing issues. Try totally disabling it to determine if it's the issue.

man, im not understanding the port stuff, and i cant spend 40$("Network Utilities" program by Port Forwarding price) on something i'll only use for this one thing
its really not hard. You just have to be able to log in to your router and enter the ports. Theres lots of tutorials out there for different types of routers. Good luck brotha

Something is blocking the ports. Make sure you forward the ports on all firewalls.

why the hell does it say at the end of the steamcmd installation "Steam>He is coming." 💀
So I have the server running, and my port forward up. It shows up in the server list. But when I try to join it, it says "Joining Failed Connection Timeout"

Keep in mind, I have my computer downstairs running the server.
You habe to port forword in on the firewall as udp and as tdp on both inbound and outbound as weel as on the router it should be port forwarded with i think its udp on the port and tdp on querry port if i remember right

When I do the ark update the ark folder is empty
I just had this on my VM. Check your free space. I needed to extend the volume. After I added hard drive space to my machine, I simply re-ran the updater
I had the same problem, all I did was rerun the updater and it worked.
All i get its " cannot start correctly " error
It was a simple fix. I installed Direct X. New PC install , so I didn't have everything installed.
Having rented many servers specifically for Ark, I found only one to be 100% stable. Even Arks native servers that you can rent could not support the full features of the game, with mods and on max settings. Server Blend was the only one where you could achieve everything, and get others to connect easily with a low ping. Having tested my settings on their hardware, I can now build and host my own. Your video is great in that you are eliminating a massive pay wall to the best aspect of the game. All the server hosts list free software features described in your videos as EXCLUSIVE to them. That's not only dishonest, but criminal.
um.... but how to port forward?
It is different for all routers, so he can't give specific advice that will work for everyone. He did include a link in his description that has a list of router models and instructions on how to port forward on that specific model. If that doesn't help you can always try a RUclips search to see if anyone has a tutorial.
