If I remember correctly, Abberration was the first map to have an official ending and then they added the Overseer to the island to complement the release of Extinction.
I wish someone would make a video discussing the history of ark and every controversy they ever did. There was so much bs, including the banning of GtJack3d and Hod gaming. Also the weird situation with selling the same game over and over as reskins such as Dark and Light, Ark Park, PixArk... They constantly did things to hurt their player base, but because it's such a niche community NOBODY exposed them for their behaviour. It makes it so you have to actually traverse and explore the entire map while prone to dangers constantly instead of flying above everything and only knowing 2% of the map. Also introduced crabby bois so yeah 12/10 🦀

Scorched was rushed, but it’s one of my favourite maps. Scorched Earth and Aberration both have the same principle: Less is more. Fewer biomes, fewer creatures, fewer options. I ended up having issues with both Scorched Earth and Aberration. My issues with Scorched Earth: Progression is near non-existent. If you transfer in from The Island, there's not a lot for you to do on this map. Your main goal will be to gather the 3 artifacts and Wyvern Eggs. Both of which can be done fairly easily once you've obtained flyers of any kind and have access to guns. The hardest enemies to kill are the Golems. The Wyverns themselves are massively overpowered and hauling a bunch to take out the final boss on the hardest difficulty isn't really that hard. But, you're "in limbo" for all of that time. Your goals and avenues for obtaining those goals are incredibly limited. Likewise, this map is one of the glitchiest there is with frequent crashes that can literally kill you if it happens while flying. Water, itself is "rare", but not really a problem as it only has the two uses: Cooking Medical Brews and staving off your own thirst. The rare spawn rate of Death Worms is also a problem. Couple this with the weather effects that also just "stop gameplay for a while". It's a map that could've benefitted from the existing formula of "The Island". Namely, 10 Artifacts, 3 bosses, one overboss. Unfortunately, the map suffers a lot from "pass through" syndrome. You're just passing through, nothing to see here, get your Wyverns and move on. The other new creatures aren't really worth obtaining... and there's only one Phoenix on the map, so if you want more, prepare to server hop or map reset. Not a lot of good places to build on the map either. Aberration is incredibly linear. I had fun for the initial hours of the map. Exploring the map was a massive priority since specific resources needed to be acquired to even TRAVERSE the map. But, in actuality, there are only two routes on the map. One is a long trek down to the boss room and the Rock Drakes. The other is a long trek into basically... nowhere. The "nowhere" is at least a nest so you can get infected and get your own Reaper if you want one. Oh, and I guess it has one of the artifacts you'll need as well. But, once you know the layout of the map, it's really quite simplistic and... boring? Again, there's not a lot to do here. Not a lot to explore. The sheer amount of "rare resources" you need to even fight the boss here mirrors that of The Island, but they spawn less frequently. Likewise, the "mushrooms" only serve as a minor temporary roadblock to anywhere. The earthquakes also become fairly annoying over time. So, it's a linear map you'll spend a ton of time on just from low spawn rates. It's another "Pass through" map. You're here only long enough to collect your Rock Drakes and the materials it takes to get to Rockwell. The boss fight of Rockwell itself was also... not fun. It's built more for a "group" to take on. But, at the same time, they limit what that group can bring so it becomes more of a "slog" than "interesting". It is literally "go in a circle around the arena, constantly moving, and then go to the center to deal damage, rinse and repeat until dead". It's also a massive hassle to even get your dinos down to the arena at all. Or through any actual point you could "teleport" your group of dinosaurs. This is the first map I ever actually needed "Tek Transporters" and I built a fair few for traversal and spent an exceptionally long time to get the element required to build them. For me, they were "okay" maps. I quickly grew tired of their particular "gimmicks" and "Lack of anywhere interesting to build or go". Then, when I wanted to leave them, it was exhausting to just gather the materials I needed to defeat the boss so I could move along. I'm having considerably more fun with Extinction, but I'm seeing some of the same issues as with previous maps... the materials you need to gather to even fight the bosses is insane. I actually miss the days of "The Island" when the materials were decently easy to come by if you knew what you were doing and all you REALLY needed was the artifacts. I dunno, I really liked "The Island". Lots of interesting places to build, a clear path of progression, that path of progression would often net you the resources you needed to fight the bosses, and then you could win. It took a really long time to leave The Island, but it was a clearly gated "open world" to an extent. Other maps don't follow that formula and the gameplay on those maps suffers as a result. Maybe those maps play differently as a "fresh" character. But, as someone who is "following the storyline" like myself, and transferring between Arks... they're not that great. Especially with no decent places to "set up a base".
@@londonraptor-859 Yeah, the map likely feels a lot different if you're playing as a "fresh character" instead of a "transfer in" like I had been. The initial raptors in the game posed more of a threat to my friend and I than the Ravagers ever did. But, when you have nothing except some bows, they are pretty terrifying. Until we found an item box spawn and pulled our equipment out of it from the transfer. The Ravagers never posed a threat to us as a result and we quickly tamed them for usage. We also never had issues with Rock Drakes or Basilisks. Rock Drakes are easily spotted and have crap AI (though they do take several dozen shotgun shells to put down! Always bring a mount to kill them in a few hits!). We didn't have issues with Basilisks because they were such a rare spawn that we barely ever saw them and had trouble collecting them before we could "move on". Most of our Tames ended up murdering them fairly quickly when we did see them too. The two threats we DID have were: Reapers. We had to fight these to get their drops to even fight the boss. Otherwise, easily avoided for most of your time on the map since they don't "guard anything" of use or note. Radiation: Figuring out which dinos could stand it and getting the materials for the hazard suits was a pain. The mushrooms were an "interesting threat" until we figured out that nomming one of the gatherable mushrooms before encountering the mushrooms on the ground (or once you had been spored by them) meant they were basically zero threat at all. We ended up just building next to the river in the green zone because it was the only place with "enough flat land" to work with in terms of a base. After all, we needed a place to breed dinos, for all of our structures to refine metal and craft, and a dozen other things. Nowhere else offered near enough space for that. Aberration was also the map in which I learned "you need to shove some of the endgame crafting facilities into the obelisks to transfer to the next map, otherwise getting those materials to build them is going to be a slog". For us, the "fun" of the map quickly ran out as it was just two linear paths and there wasn't much to actually explore or do beyond "grind resources", of which we did a lot of... because the resource distribution on the map isn't "great". Maybe if we had come in on fresh characters, it would've been more fun. But, we came in as max level characters with stuff waiting for us to be "battle ready" and so there wasn't much to do other than "breed tames, gather resources, get the new creatures, and fight the boss". Oh, yeah, the light was an "interesting" mechanic for a bit, but after a while we just stopped caring about the light pets because you got more xp from killing all the Nameless than making sure they "stayed away". On top of which, the flying guys attracted to the light posed too many problems for us and so having our pets either not be "on" or leaving them at home ended up just being the smarter option for us. Which... rendered light in the game absolutely worthless to us.
@@XxTaiMTxX Read the whole thing. 2 things: 1: Aberration is my favorite map simply because of the way it's designed and the challenge it poses 2: 50% of your comment is just these " "
If the devs freaking move their asses, then maybe! Extremely sad how my favorite and most played game went to sh**! But also some dlc broke the gameplay for me after extinction it started to crumble ... i wish they would have released lost island and fjordur before Genesis and extinction!
Aberration is probably my favorite map too. I really liked the progression into the other zones and rock drakes are awesome on it. And as a solo player the end boss on alpha is very doable without spending huge amounts of time on breeding dino's.
I played first year when it was released and since then it's still my favourite game. Sadly, I don't have the time to play or any friends to play with anymore.
Same we were here at the beginning then once we finished fordjor we just said we're done with the game and not going to 100% this game cause it'll take to long
My guy, your not alone. Aberration will always be my favourite, from its top-tier music to its alien flora and fauna. The best bit will always be the ending. That ascension song hits different
The reason why scorched earth doesn't have a cinematic ending/ ascension is because of some controversial money problems wildcard had with thier parent company known as snail games. They forced wildcard to release Scorched earth as a Dlc as fast as possible to make more money. Wc wasn't able to do certain things with SE thanks to that. Also WC kinda hates SE and thats also why we have sooo much content from that map on free Dlcs.
after all these years WC finally committed to making an scorched earth ending though It was announced to come with the switch rework and then onto the other platforms later in the year iirc
@@thelonlyginger3882 Pretty sure that everyone who played scorched earth on its release loves the map. It's just been ruined by all of its content being on the free maps with easier methods to obtain the same things
Ark will always be in my top 5 of all-time favorite games. So much fun, so much frustration, so many dinos. From dodo armies to bronto tanks, armorless foot races around death island and punch k.o.-ing a t-rex, every moment was so much fun and at times so terrifying. I cannot wait for Ark 2 to come out in 2067.
I remember playing this in 2018 when I was 9-10, some of my best memories, it introduced me to the wider gaming community (discord and other stuff). Ark will forever hold a special spot in my heart... I would do anything to play with my old friends on there again. I would stay up late (12pm - 1 pm) taming dinos and building bases with my friends on there aswell as doing other stuff. I remember the communities and all the base raiding we would do and how you would have to talk to different tribes to organize shit... it was memorable.
Ark is definitely my favourite game of all time. I’ve been playing for 6 years and haven’t regretted a single moment. I’ve played PvP, PvE and have just messed around for hours.
Great job on the video my dude! I was entertained from beginning to end (which says a lot because I'm ADHD and the slightest boredom makes me leave lmao)! Keep up the good work brother!🤜🤛
Oh trust me, Aberration is my favorite map by FAR. I just absolutely love the drastic change in atmosphere and the switch up in the way to play the map
I have to say the ability to tech up and get to guns and even future technology (tek) is a good idea but I hate that the game went from a hard survival game with dinosaurs in about surviving and thriving from the bottom of the food chain to becoming whatever it is now with the nonsensical additions (I like wyverns but why am I being eaten by a metal velociraptor in my dinosaur survival game) and path of the 'story' of the game. Ragnarok is probably still THE BEST map to this day for being so good at just being a fun survival map with a huge map and plenty of dinos. The center is not a terrible map now looking back at what they release nowadays...

I've spent most of my time on the first map. Had to start again so many times due to losing save data. Never fought any of the bosses and don't care to either. I just want to build, tame and explore.
I personally LOVE aberration. Its so pretty, and the concept of it is just amazing to me. Still refuse to play it cause it terrifies me to no extent, but its by far one of my favorite maps.
I got Ark the week it dropped on steam. 8k hrs later on every type of game mode and im hella over it. bloody top game all around and i will remember the good and bad times forever. Great video bud keep it up
Scorched Earth has a really inspiring landscape. It's easy to copy and translate into different medias. I made a desert biome in Minecraft using modded blocks I made and it was based off of Scorched Earth. It has the same orange-y appearance with the dark grey mountains and sharp cliff things. Also, Aberration is a goated map. Such an interesting and awesome design. It was the one DLC my buddy got excited for because of the "Xenomorphs" and Roll Rats. We played it a little too much.
The difference between the normal Dino’s and the X/R Dino’s, is the fact that the x and r ones do more damage and have less heath then the normal ones. ( and the aberration variant has more damage and less heath as well). Hope this helps!
Me describing ark when I first got it: ark is a survival game where you tame dinosaurs and survive on an island Me describing ark after buying every dlc: arks is a game that takes up almost 200gbs of space on your Xbox.
At first I hated Aberration because of the no flying, making it very hard to map out the whole map (which I still don't know fully) but I really like it now. It's such a cool concept with some really cool biomes and locations!
I’ve been playing Ark since 2017 and have never even once attempted a boss battle. I am here to build cool shit and befriend cool dinos - I am not tryna watch all my pals die like 15x in a row. More power to everyone who kicks the bosses’ asses - throw em a solid punch for me
I’d love to play Arc again. My friend and I, despite our initial hiccups, had an amazing time learning how to survive in this weird island with Dinos. My only problems were that we didn’t know how to set up a server for ourselves that didn’t have my friend be tied to the server host like a tether, and that the game is **300 hecking gigabytes**
I spent hours with my buddy building a single boat base. After fighting off several raiders we finally set sail and were immediately destroyed by a whale. I won’t ever have enough time to scratch the surface of this game.
2:45 This aged like fine wine. (They came out today and said they’re making a cinematic and showed it! It’s great! I love ARK and all the story maps! I’ve not dabble much in the community made ones, other than Lost Island and Fjordur.) 5:58 Not true, the x Dino’s actually have better stats than their counterparts. 6:03 also there are console commands you can use to bypass the mission requirement in Genesis 1 and 2. I used it. Genesis Part 2 is the BIGGEST map in the entire game. 7:00 Your editing and commentary was funny! Like I said, I love everything about ARK, despite some bugs and stuff, however my fave map is Genesis 2, Extinction and Aberation.
Aberration by far my favourite map. It has that unique alien Flora with all that bioluminiscence stuff like the Blue Zone, which is in my eyes the most beautiful area in the entire game. I also really like the progression between each zone and the cool looking but highly dangerous creatures like Reaper, Rock Drake and Basilisks. Even the new mechanics with the Light Pets, Toxic Mushrooms and Radiation are fun because you have to really understand the map and biomes with their unique dangers. Abb feels really like a hard Survival Game because everything wants to kill you
Honestly I don't think you could have explained this game any better, this was perfect, it can be the most fun, rage inducing, and and depressing game ever and it can all happen within a time span of a day
I downloaded ark on my phone about a year ago and knew nothing about it. I thought you just survived long enough to the point where you are unstoppable I had no idea all this existed
2 years since this video was made and no ark 2 still LMFAO but yeah i miss the old ark i started playing right when the center came out and i loved ark until when extention came out i stopped playing cause manas where everywhere in official servers and it was impossible to start
Quite interesting how much went over this games lifespan. Also I love how they recently added a cinematic ending to SE, like 6 years or so after it released. Also ALSO, the part about how aberration isn’t spelt “Abb” really got me as I do the same thing
As someone thats has been playing Ark Since December 2019, id say, i love ark. Every new Map they brought out are just so fascinating and Fjordur..oh boy..thats my Fav Map so far. Idk if im excited for Ark 2 but ill probaly still play Ark
As someone who occasionally watched stuff about Ark, played it a few times, and really never kept up with it. I'm genuinely shocked that the original game released in 2015, it felt like Jurrasic World came out like 3 years ago. Let alone I didn't know that Ark has been adding stuff almost every year it's been released. I'm aware that Wildcard has some problems (to what extent remains unknown to me I'll be watching videos on drama after this) but the community I've seen come out of Ark is incredible. I don't know how to explain it, but it's not like a COD community or BF, or even like Minecraft or Dark Souls. Like it's different but in a mostly positive way.
The Center, Annunaki Genesis, 100x Rates, PvP That was peak Ark in my opinion xD Grinding all day on big servers, clearing the floating island for bosses and stuff
After playing them all I loved ragnarok buuut then fjordur came out and it is my favorite by far. I've got the most hours and such on it and it was such a beutiful map. Also the music on it was amazing
I hate boat traveling in Fjordur for only one reason. The Leedsichthys is always watching, and he comes for me like a bag of festival gummy bears on a friday afternoon
nice delve into the maps' histories. the only history of ark i remember well is when people used to build on the volcano in island map during beta, then wildcard announced the "eruption" of the volcano which basically destroyed all bases built on said volcano some time after full release.
I'm sure since you're still in school you have other things but just want you to know you could do this for a living if you wanted, you're hilarious, editing is solid if not great. You got my sub for sure.
3:36 Finally, someone else who can appreciate Aberration. I know why people don’t like it. It’s hard, brutal, and at times feels very not worth it.
The two threats we DID have were:
Reapers.

Aberration is probably my favorite map too. I really liked the progression into the other zones and rock drakes are awesome on it. And as a solo player the end boss on alpha is very doable without spending huge amounts of time on breeding dino's.
i remember a group of friends brought me along with some shotguns to basically burst rockwell down without needing a dino

Also WC kinda hates SE and thats also why we have sooo much content from that map on free Dlcs.
after all these years WC finally committed to making an scorched earth ending though
It was announced to come with the switch rework and then onto the other platforms later in the year iirc
Wrong it’s because nobody likes scorched earth

I remember the communities and all the base raiding we would do and how you would have to talk to different tribes to organize shit... it was memorable.
there were people in 2018 who were 9 years old, that is the strangest thing ever to me
Ark is definitely my favourite game of all time. I’ve been playing for 6 years and haven’t regretted a single moment. I’ve played PvP, PvE and have just messed around for hours.
Fun fact: "Fjordur" is actually spelled "Fjörður" and it means "Field/Fjord" in Icelandic/old Norse
Yeah and fjord is Norwegian

Ragnarok is my absolute favorite map, it’s just so great and Griffins are amazing additions.
Ive started playing primitve plus for the sake of escaping whatever Ark is now@@addieeeson

I really enjoyed the funny ark relatable jokes, especially the one about how ARK 2 is set to release 2023 but won't until 2030.
this was much more interesting than my history class
Sooo trieese
2:34 HOW DID YOU KNOW.
I have a black cat named Radar and when I tamed a black jerboa I named it after him so I was genuinely surprised at this lmao
What in hell? Scorched Earth in insanely good!

The difference between the normal Dino’s and the X/R Dino’s, is the fact that the x and r ones do more damage and have less heath then the normal ones. ( and the aberration variant has more damage and less heath as well). Hope this helps!
Also X/R dinos cap at 500 instead of 450
You're spot on, 1 year later and Ark 2 is set to released 2030.
Me describing ark when I first got it: ark is a survival game where you tame dinosaurs and survive on an island
Me describing ark after buying every dlc: arks is a game that takes up almost 200gbs of space on your Xbox.
More power to everyone who kicks the bosses’ asses - throw em a solid punch for me
The first few years of Ark was so fucking good. Spent so many hours grinding solo pvp and had so much fun
Ark to me is one of those games you always come back to you can never forget

Yeah ark 2 aint the best
I’d love to play Arc again. My friend and I, despite our initial hiccups, had an amazing time learning how to survive in this weird island with Dinos.
My only problems were that we didn’t know how to set up a server for ourselves that didn’t have my friend be tied to the server host like a tether, and that the game is **300 hecking gigabytes**
i genuinely love this game with all my heart, its brought me so much and i’ll forever love it
I did not know how small extinction was like I thought it was the same size as the centre
And aberration I thought that was a small map

I spent hours with my buddy building a single boat base. After fighting off several raiders we finally set sail and were immediately destroyed by a whale. I won’t ever have enough time to scratch the surface of this game.
2:45 This aged like fine wine.
(They came out today and said they’re making a cinematic and showed it! It’s great! I love ARK and all the story maps! I’ve not dabble much in the community made ones, other than Lost Island and Fjordur.)
5:58 Not true, the x Dino’s actually have better stats than their counterparts.
6:03 also there are console commands you can use to bypass the mission requirement in Genesis 1 and 2. I used it.
Genesis Part 2 is the BIGGEST map in the entire game. 7:00
Your editing and commentary was funny!
Abb feels really like a hard Survival Game because everything wants to kill you
ABBERRATION is the best map and not saying this as opinioon but as a fact, because of the game mechanics in this map are so unique
True
2:23 :c
It's not true.... It's is SO big...

I cannot begin to express how much I love Aberration. It’s the only one I’ve played on for years
As someone who occasionally watched stuff about Ark, played it a few times, and really never kept up with it.
When you start playing ark: what a silly dino game
When lore kicks in: MY LIFE WAS A LIE
The Center, Annunaki Genesis, 100x Rates, PvP
That was peak Ark in my opinion xD
Grinding all day on big servers, clearing the floating island for bosses and stuff
