Hi there, Im from Namibia in Southern Africa, I have always been looking for a cheap inexpensive method to build ponds for fish and this was a great eye opener. I would just like to know the following..
1) How much cement was required to build one panel?
2) How much cement was required to build the foundations of the one pond?
3) What are the dimensions (Length,breadth and thickness) of one slab?
I think that your response on the matter will be highly important as that will help any person interested in building these ponds can make a close estimation on the costs that will be involved..thanks for your reply and keep up the good work
Bro construct a tank for one brick width thickness of side cement walls with thin steel grills. For at least 30 feet's long and 15 feets width. Better room for fish to to travel so that good size will come soon. Should never build small tanks that grows for 1 r 2 KGS in weigh
Dear Toby, This smaller tanks are only for small ornamental fish, like Gold Fish. This is not so good for larger fish like Tilapia. However, samaller tanks may be good for Baby Tilapiya of upto 1-2 inch in size, only.

Do you paint it with anything to make it waterproof? Does anything seep out of the concrete into the water that affects the pH?

How is the filtration setup for such farm? Do they have one or it is free flowing water?
Did you mix some water proofing compound with the cement to stop absorbing water, or just a plain cement... Also, with out any chemical, cement will keep absorbing the water in the tank... Please advise... Thank you

juanmendezrt depending on where you live but when i was in my home country with tropic weather i never had to water change like what you do with aquarium tanks. The water evaporate so quick that putting in new water was good enough. Auto top off system. And since it rains a lot .., there is always a supply of freshwater available.

How much cement did you use to form the walls? 200 lbs? How much concrete mix did you use in the floor? What is the capacity of the tank in Liters? How long did it take to complete the build? 5 days to build it and another 5 days to let it cure?
