One of the top secrets to longevity for rotary engines! Use a good quality premix oil! If you have a factory OMP still installed, you can still run a premix to help lubricate the seals better to prevent carbon buildup.
more like get home owners asking for a lawn mowed or some weeds trimmed. its a car not a leaf blower if it needs premix you better pre plan for a motor swap
@@makuta373 do you not see the similarities between a 2-stroke and a rotory, it needs the oil, just like a regular engine, but there is no way to get the oil to all the moving components so that is why premix
RAVn BLADE He probably gets it, I do, too. What we (I) don't understand is the purpose for such a ridiculously inferior engine design when there are so many good, powerful, cheap, reliable piston engines the world over. @@angelmotorsports i want to do that and get rid of the rats nest at the same time, I just don't want to have my car down now that the weather doesn't suck as much
@@cadwgawn there is a mod you can do that lets your omp pull from an external reservoir so you still have all the oil metering but you can just fill the tank with what ever oil you want
Best smell ever: VP and Castor 927!!! Ran that in every dirt bike and jetski I ever owned. 2nd best smell was the Formula K2 - ran that in a couple 125s - you really need to heat that stuff up to get the most from it.
i guess i'm an exception to this rule. i don't premix, never have, OMP works just fine. built my engine back in '99 and drove it daily in an 808 til wrecking it in '05(not my fault). put it in an FB and drove that daily til '10 when i decided to get something else to drive daily. FB still gets driven on weekends and yearly to DGRR and sees WOT quite frequently and will keep carbon buildup to a minimum. you can't drive like a grandma, barely revving to 4k letting all that carbon build up. got a good 170k+ miles on it and still going strong. no i don't totally disagree with premixing as there are cleaner burning alternatives out there, it's just not a "do it or loose an engine" kinda thing. regardless of the mix used, it's heavier than the fuel it's mixed in and will settle out over time. i had an old gas tank i removed from an rx7 that i have no doubt had been premixed over several years. it had a thick tar like substance in the bottom of it. if you use a 2 stroke weedeater, do you not shake or agitate the fuel in the can before you pour it into the weedeater? i rode dirt bikes as a kid and the bike dad had was a 2 stroke. he used to rock it side to side to remix the 2 stroke oil and gas in the tank before starting it. try that with a car. anyway, been watching the builds. hope that rotary kicks some s10 a$$.
@Hoonigan Bonus does the oil ruin the octane rating of your fuel? Ie. if youre usnig c16 will it drop the octane rating below the 116-118 octane? How much does octane rating affect a rotary compared to piston for detonation?
This is why companies get actors to present their product/service. Scientist, engineers, mechanics ect. are all over the place but it eventually gets through lol.
lovin this rotary stuff but i dont know anything about it. so is it like maintining a 2stroke scooter engine where you put 2t to keep the engine healthy?
iono but have u tried bridge porting on a bridgeport mill drill press at a 45° apon entry vs 90° where u cant angle the bridge itself without compromising the eyebrows size

Vargas just saved me with the premix knowledge. Never would ive known that the carbon would eventually ruin the seals on rotor. That case being always primix when refilling. 🤦
I stopped premixing when four-stroke dirtbikes became as light and 'good' as two-smokes. Vargas taught me how rotaries work and got me interested in them, and then immediately taught me why they were a colossal global failure and why they utterly suck, haha! I'm glad guys like he and his brother are keeping them alive, but man... what a stupid design for automotive applications! I'd love a rotary bike, however. And they sorta make cool sounds, though not ones I'm interested in hearing as long as I2, V2, I4, V4, I6, V8, and V12 piston engines exist.
Can we get like, an actual semi serious educational video about this? I had no idea Doritos needed premix. Is the premix only for the apex seals? Am I remembering incorrectly that there is an oil sump? What does that oil lubricate? Now I have even more questions and I’d imagine Vargas would have the answers if you guys could be serious for like 5 minutes.
You block off the pump going to the oil injectors and premix it your self to be more reliable that you are actually getting oil in the combustion chambers. The oil pump can and will fail and not lubricate the apex seals and 💥
More reliable I guess... maybe its hard to tell if the oil pump goes out, well till the engine blows lol but hey thats just my guess i might be way off
Because people, as a general rule, are lazy and stupid (mob rule, group think, that kinda shit). If there were a separate tank to fill; morons would run it dry even if there were an idiot light on the dash. And bean counters would shy away from a setup like that because they know they'd lose sales because some lazy fuck wouldn't want to have to fill a separate tank. Also there would be an added cost to the design and manufacturing.

Maxima 927 for the win. Smells awesome! It will attract old guys with motocross or flat track stories tho, so that can be a downside.
I am guilty of exactly that.
I use it in my KTM. Smells awesome! I read that it gums up valves though.
Downside......says you.
927 has bit more wax in it so it'll gum up the power valves more often. But still an excellent mix

Premix lubes the engine and makes the gas combust at lower temps, hence no premix you overheat and you dont get the hunnies.
