Spot on brother. I would have done the same thing. I might have gone one step farther and replaced the other belt and tensioner. apart from that you did the job like a pro.
I honestly completely forgot there was a second belt and tensioner. Thankfully all is quiet and running well! Thanks for watching! Great content, just gained a subscriber BTW
@@copenhagenblue8417 Ya I was surprised there was two belts also. I do all highway and my tensioner and belt where changed at about 350 K miles. The water pump bearing is going will change that tomorrow (630 K mile)
Do I must to remove the tensioner to take out the water pump?, I think I have removed all the screws but I can't take out the water pump, thank you for your help.
Thanks for the well done video. Was replacing my belts, which turned into belts and tensioners, which turned into water pump, belts and tensioners because the water pump pulley has some slop and i just don't want to mess with it again. Is there not a pipcock drain on the radiator to minimize the coolant mess?
wow, 124k miles ? I need to get ready for this job. Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Its sad that after 124k miles the water pump brg was this noisy though.
Yeah, i didn't expect it to fail so early honestly, but the van has been used for a LOT of city driving, so I guess I can't really complain. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I have a 2017 3.7 with 208,000 miles and it looks like the waterpump is failing. I assumed that it was NOT possible to get to the pump without removing a lot of components. But your excellent video calmed my concerns. 😁
There's not an over abundance of stuff in the way, but certainly not staring you in the face. Just take your time and it goes smoothly. Make sure you look up torque specs and clean the surfaces well, you'll be fine. Thanks for watching!
That final piece you put on after the actual water pump itself and the belt, the manifold. Is there no seal between that and the engine? Or is the one that was already on there still good to reuse usually?
If you know you’re going to do the job, I would recommend getting a new one. I reused it because it was still in good shape, but I think I got lucky that it was at 126,000 miles still reusable. I’d recommend replacing all O-rings if you can. Thanks for watching.
@@PnoyAirman22 unfortunately you’re only options are probably be to either try and use some JB weld and epoxy it back on or you’re goning have to get a hold of intake. I would check junkyards before I buy a new one.
Oh yeah it was rough. What surprises me is that it didn't really make a lot of noise leading up to the day it failed. But the van does sit a LOT!. Thanks for watching!
No, I did not replace the thermostat. If it was something I had to remove to do the job I would have. Thermostat has never given me any issues, knock on wood. Lol.
Please edit torque to 8-10 foot pounds as stated in the manual for 8mm bolts. I followed your 35 foot pound recommendation and snapped off one of my bolts. Sucks, please update. Video great besides that.
I'm really sorry that the video has the incorrect torque spec. I did double check it and I must have fat fingered the keys. I went back and blurred out the torque spec, it should take a few hours to update. Thanks for watching and letting me know!
@copenhagenblue8417 Thanks for the quick reply. I ended up getting lucky. Once I pulled off the water pump, the nubs were sticking out and I was able to back them out with just my fingers. No tool needed! Again awesome video except for the torque. Ford seems to enjoy hiding those torque settings.
Please some help, do I have to remove the tensioner if want to remove out the water pump?, I have take out 7 screws I'm able to move water pump but not able to take out it looks like there are one o more screws somewhere, do I have to remove tensioner to take out water pump?, thank you for you help, GOD bless you.
You do not have to remove the tensioner to replace the water pump. I honestly don't remember how many bolts there are sorry, but I believe it is around 8.
Why did you not change the belt and tensioner on the left side? The left side belt is behind the belt that you changed. So you will have to remove it to change the left side belt. I would change both sides while you have everything dissembled.
When I inspected it, the belt appeared to be in good shape. Probably would have been more proactive to get it taken care of while I was there, but my main concern was the water pump. Definitely will suck to take it apart again if that belt requires replacement.
The only thing that I can think of is that something was unplugged during the procedure that is effecting the van. I would check all the sensors that are up in that area. Throttle position sensor, cam sensors, MAF sensors, ect. Something is unplugged that sends a signal to the car that is needs. Start there or I should say, work backwards from doing the job and check all your connections. Good Luck! I hope you figure it out.
The worst thing was just the space to get to it on the van. I bet in a mustang or something with space, it's a 45 min job for sure. Thanks for watching!
@@copenhagenblue8417 as soon as you started it up I knew what it was. My company van is making the same sound. And the boss is cheap. And it is very nice that job required no sillycone.
@@fryingpanhead8809 same here, as soon as my wife started it up to go to the store. I told her just shut it off and not drive it. It’s not worth the risk of overheating the engine. Hopefully your boss doesn’t ignore it too long. The water pump is a lot cheaper than a motor.

How much is for labor $$ to replace the pump

Did it start before doing the water pump?
Yes
