I've never found James Blunt to be anything other than a absolute stand-up chap. His integrity and what he has achieved and his journey in life outstrips every single hater. His resilience to deal with 'fellow artists' lame and unwarranted comments highlight his immense, deep-seated positivity. What a brilliant interview.
Love James Blunt... His Music is outstanding, comes from the heart... Best Lyrics ever... Keep it coming James the World is a better place thanks to you ❤ Xxx
I had the pleasure of driving James several years ago. He is an absolute gentleman, considerate and a lot of fun. What you see is what you get. I wish him all the very best
Knew him growing up - well, his sister Emily more - and he was always a lovely guy. I think people often get triggered by the posh thing, but he’s a positive force: the world is better for him.
I don't understand why anyone _would_ / _could_ be "triggered by the posh thing"... I love the way he talks, sings, thinks and writes. His thoughtfulness is worth putting high value on, especially, in his life experiences - as well as anyone's. He could write a book on 'how to be the nicest person' because he is. (Imo) It's a shame that his more negative experiences have robbed him of his earlier naiveté but, in a way, it's something that we all go through to some greater or lesser degree, and James's continuing success and family bonds show us that we too, can attain those heights... Maybe not as award-winning songwriters / musical performers etc but, that with the right inspiration, goal(s) and work, we _can_ find what we're looking for, and feel happy that we've brought that happiness to bear through our own determined efforts, as well as the family and friendships we've cultivated along the way. (Hopefully, that doesn't sound to grandiose or self-serving to the detrimental of just a simple hope and admiration for James Blunt's genuine attitude to... "life, the universe, and everything?!"* (42). (Thank-you Douglas Adams*. R.I.P.) Thank-you for this interview, and many thanks to James Blunt for the music and for being someone really worth looking up to. - and thank-you to James's band for being there for each other, and James.
@@brigidsingleton1596 I cannot stand that posh accent. It's just horrible, reminds me of people who are far up their own arse and look down on other people. He doesn't seem to be one of those people but I had to stop listening to this after about 20 mins because of how he sounds

Like his music when I hear it, never bought any of it though but total respect to the man. Good human being and quite an inspiration.
How can anyone not like this guy?! I guarantee that all those who diss him have all sung along to his songs. He's done well for a reason! he's not just a vocalist, he writes, plays, some of these artists today don't have half his talent.

James Blunts Music isn't something i listen too as i listen to Rock and Metal but i respect his talent, however as a Man an Human Being he is absolute Legend.
I'm a huge James Blunt fan. His music isn't my thing, but as a person he's so genuine, honest, good natured, sweet and hilarious, it's hugely inspiring. As a fellow musician I'd love to record with him on the basis of that alone, because you can tell he'd be a pleasure to work with and the whole experience would be lots of fun.

James’ comment about coming from the army (the real world for sure) and being treated so childishly by certain “celebrities” is embarrassing for sure, but not for James but for these sad, pathetic, immature men-children. I remember being a teenager when James Blunt had his hit songs. Everyone (my age and especially guys) was joking about the high pitched male voice and I followed suit. As I grew up through the years I started watching his interviews and actually listened to the lyrics. It's amazing and rare the amount of vulnerability that James Blunt manages to share through his music. Great music and he seems like a great guy as well. Super genuine and sincere, it's appreciated all these years later. And James if you're reading, your music really hits me now when I listen to these songs, especially the live performances. Your eyes say it all.
My kids are teens and it’s a gentle battle of persuasion to encourage them to be brave enough to trust and live what THEY think and feel and not what their friends have been told to think and feel.
It’s not even that high pitched a voice. In fact he has a pretty normal range and uses falsetto occasionally. I think it’s just that a certain type of bloke couldn’t deal with anything that hinted at vulnerability

No idea how you can not love his music. Especially early days. There’s a time and place for all different genres but when I’m feeling down or if I’m in love or I’m having a Sunday chill day then James blunt has got me every time as well as many other classics. Yes he’s posh but how can you have a go at someone who is posh if they are down to earth and not up their own arse. Just glad he had strength of character when people in the industry were being so horrible to him. He could of gone a different way. Top watch thanks guys.
@ good point. Maybe my point was aimed at people who disliked his music because they were scared to like a song that was soft, romantic and gentle. Maybe some people disliked his music because they think if they did like his music it would mean they were gay. You can like music for being soft, gentle and heartfelt without meaning you are gay man.
I’m ashamed to say that I was one of those people who made fun of James Blunt back in the day. His music wasn’t my cup of tea and still isn’t, but he’s more of a man than any of the Gallagher’s, Albarn’s or Weller’s. Things were different back then and the kind of bullying James Blunt went through wouldn’t be tolerated today. The Gallagher’s also made fun of Michael Hutchence and referred to him as a has been when he presented them with a Brit award. This was shortly before Hutchence passed away. I used to be an Oasis and Blur fan but not anymore. That passed a long time ago. Luckily, most of us grow up and I for one apologize for my part in it. Mr Blunt is a gentleman, intelligent, funny, and a lovely man. I wish him all the best 🙏
What a special podcast edition. James, you really don’t know how loved and appreciated you are. You served; fought for Queen & country. We owe you a debt we can never repay. You’ve gone on to make fantastic music with light and shade as a totally gifted and credible artist. You’ve not had an easy journey, albeit privileged, but that has come with its own challenges and sacrifices. Please never believe or listen to the trolls. You are there on merit and you’re a good decent man that is loved 😊
I've loved him and his music since hearing You're Beautiful. The guy is a beautiful singer/songwriter, and then also a grade-a self deprecating dipshit genius. I am and forever will be in awe of him.
So I was watching an episode of the repair shop that I hadn’t seen before, and all of a sudden the algorithm had this video of James Blunt… Now I have to say I really don’t know much about James except for back in 2007 November 18, I lost my 26 year-old daughter in a traffic accident… we are putting pictures together and I knew I wanted Natalie Grant’s Held. I left the other two up to my daughter and her husband and Your Beautiful was a song I have sang and watched many times since… It always makes me cry. It was actually on last week at the Grocery Outlet when I was shopping and for the last two weeks, I’ve been singing it as we’re coming up on the 17th year, which seems like yesterday… I don’t normally put things on Facebook and I really don’t do X but I planned on putting this song on. I just wanna say I’m sorry that you’ve gone through what you went through and that you’re still out there and you have to remember God loves you and you are beautiful and special. And remember also that the Gallagher’s they like to say mean things they said it to Michael Hutchins when he was on stage giving them an award and now they’re past age he was when he left us and he wasn’t an old man at 37. Blessings all over you.❤
James Blunt, you are a WONDER! Most musicians would love to write songs as wonderful as yours…..maybe that’s the root of their childish feelings.……and you didn’t even know you were getting under their skin, great song writing flows from you like sunshine, that’s why you make us all smile. Long may you create 👍🏽🙋🏽♀️💛
You know, I think a great deal of it originated because he 'sounds posh' and didn't write and perform music that appealed to men. That's pretty much it, from what I can tell. I don't know or listen to his music, but have long known that he comes across as a sound bloke.
B2B is one of the most perfect singer/songwriter albums ever written, I've played it more than probably any other album. James is clearly a wonderful human being and his army life definitely did him incredibly well in the transition to the music industry. Anyone who can keep the same band and crew for over 20 years is doing everything right because that is no easy thing.
James is a true hero who served his country, and has now made a great second career for himself. Those other guys ( 'who were they anyway') don't want to be near James because they are either jealous or feel inferior and should be called out for their behaviour and publicly disgraced, and made to apologize (they are worse than bullies in the school playground).
What an amazing man James is, I always did love his music, and the little amount that I knew about him has simply been confirmed. He deserves all his success, and may it continue for many years.
Love James Blunt, always have. Hes bright, witty, sociable and stoic. Plus he can write and sing. The haters just show how they truly are inside and how little they respect themselves.
James saw you live three times this year - best Singer/Songwriter in time and also so absolutely authentic, powerful and near by the audience. Thank you James for the wonderful magic through your music❤❤❤
Great interview. James Blunt has always been a thoroughly decent guy. All the negativity towards him has always been rooted in class wars. Musicians with working class roots didn't want to lose 'credibility' by accepting him. If people judged him on his character and musicianship they'd see he's absolutely sound.
Absolute legend, an incredibly intelligent person with integrity, tenacity. Love his music. Great podcast. He’s a humble man runs rings around the vision in the dessert group member. Blur . Nothing on this man .
Very few musians have had proper jobs, let alone served their country. So respect to James. I think when someone has inner class, confidence and are polite - that triggers those who are not, and thus they lash out.
James has an incredible body of work that any musician on any level would rightly be proud to boast. Good on him and wouldn’t begrudge him a single bit of his success.
I love that he pushed through the hard years when he was always being made a joke of. He has true grit and character and staying power, which has paid off. People respect him now and he earned that. He's something of a national treasure. A Brit to be proud of.
I genuinely love James blunt music, I have all his cds (before Spotify). As someone with social anxiety I stay away from social media for the most part. I’m so sorry to hear James blunt had this horridness to deal with. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to be someone to stick up for him. But I will keep loving his music and singing along at the top of my voice ❤❤❤ that’s my way of supporting 😊
Salute to you sir firstly for your service to your country and secondly for the raw, unfiltered music that talks about human feelings and emotions which connect with millions across the globe
big fan! thanks for all your great music mate, my best mate just lost his dad recently and i sent him monsters as a tool to listen too when he wants to remember and to have a cry like i do to remember my mum and dad . i think as blokes its hard to show emotion , but necessary , so i have a song that reminds me of each of my parents and when i need to vent i just go for a drive or walk and have a listen and cry and always feel better after it. your 100% right about being able to say what you need to before its too late. my mum had a heart attack so i never got that chance but when my dad passed i made sure we had many good chats and he knew how much i loved him . makes a world of difference for moving on and processing the loss. thanks for all the great songs mate your a bloody champion
What a nice man, funny and entertaining and open and humble. Posh? Or just a normal nice guy that has morals and respect? I think to keep that in this day and age like he has is pretty marvellous. He has some amazing stories and experiences, and that just shows you he is a good man or else these opportunities would not have presented themselves to him. Well done James
Always loved his music, its very moving, each song is a story in its own right. Never understood the hate for his vocals either, he has a nice clear voice and I can hear every word. Its great sing along music.
James..you my devine being are the dogs bollox. Brilliant and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your magnificence with me...its all about me, of coarse.. ❤
Thinking a James Blunt / Chris Martin duet would hit the notes that this planet needs right now - inspired kindness. Respect James Blunt - you're beautiful - a soulful interview🤍👌🏽
What a lovely, decent, articulate, interesting, soft and unspoilt person James Blunt is! And what a great conversation. I had the misfortune of being raised by private-school-educated parents with "posh" accents who, out of socialist principles and all-round tightness, sent me to state schools in England, Scotland and Wales where there was a high social cost to sounding posh, being articulate and striving for excellence in anything other than sports. The economist Roland Fryer has found much the same thing - the provision of arrows rather than ladders, as James memorably puts it - happens in African-American communities. This is inverted snobbery which holds individuals and communities back. It's why the British working class is less socially mobile than the working class in Australia, where I now live. I'm not surprised the Oasis brothers, Paul Weller and Damon Albarn acted as they did. They are unreformable oafs. But Jools Holland and the production team surrounding him surprise and appall me. They really should feel nothing but disgust at themselves for their lack of courage.
Back to Bedlam was one of my favourite CDs back in the day, watching this interview today I am inspired to discover some of his new music. A really open and beautiful interview, seeing James emotional recalling memories of his dad was touching. Total respect to him, thank you for your army service and congratulations on being a good human !
Being a fan of The Jam back in the day. It is disappointing to hear Paul Weller joining in on the half-witted bullying from the likes of Gallagher and Albarn
Just goes to show how sad a lot of these people are regardless of their musical talent. Music should be democratic, not a closed cartel! Live and let live
As James said -- some are so childish and have ego's larger than their IQ. Its strange how James claims his emotions are locked and only come out in song; and yet we can see the emotion when taking about his father.
I’ve always been a loud supporter of James and his music, man… this was such a great interview. I was mesmerised throughout the whole thing. Great guy.
James Blunt is a great lyricist, listen to Goodbye My Lover, we have all been there with those feelings and thoughts. If you get the chance to see him live, it's an absolute riot.
My children aged 11,9 and 5 have never heard of Noel Gallagher or Damon Albarn, but they love JB, and can recognize his tracks within the first few seconds of being played. High performance!

What a wonderful conversation. What a gentle man. Heartfelt. Thank you xx
James is brilliant one of the best artists out there let the haters hate - many of us love him
Total respect, such a decent bloke.
How the fuck does anyone hate on this guy? Writes hlgreat songs and has a great voice.
You know, I think a great deal of it originated because he 'sounds posh' and didn't write and perform music that appealed to men. That's pretty much it, from what I can tell. I don't know or listen to his music, but have long known that he comes across as a sound bloke.
@neepers22 yeah you may be right. He sounds posh so is posh and most people hate post 😂
How the F? Let me explain. Are there things you do not like? Yes. There you go.
I love JAMES BLUNT - very open and honest with integrity. Thank you so much for this great interview.
Always impressed with James, a funny, humble, talented, determined guy!
James saw you live three times this year - best Singer/Songwriter in time and also so absolutely authentic, powerful and near by the audience. Thank you James for the wonderful magic through your music❤❤❤
Glad you had Mr Blunt on , i first heard him talk on top gear i think , he's always seemed like a nice guy , funny and obviously talented.
Just been to his concert in Cape Town and it was amazing and wow wow - his new music is incredible ❤
I think when someone has inner class, confidence and are polite - that triggers those who are not, and thus they lash out.
exactly, speaks volumes about them ! sad
Lovely guy full respect.
Wow! What a great interview. James you are wonderful to listen to. You are so thoughtful. Thanks for all of your stories.🙏🏼
Salute to you sir firstly for your service to your country and secondly for the raw, unfiltered music that talks about human feelings and emotions which connect with millions across the globe
I've always really liked James and have never understood the negativety surrounding him ❤
I just don’t understand the hate this man gets, it just baffles me
big fan! thanks for all your great music mate, my best mate just lost his dad recently and i sent him monsters as a tool to listen too when he wants to remember and to have a cry like i do to remember my mum and dad . i think as blokes its hard to show emotion , but necessary , so i have a song that reminds me of each of my parents and when i need to vent i just go for a drive or walk and have a listen and cry and always feel better after it. your 100% right about being able to say what you need to before its too late. my mum had a heart attack so i never got that chance but when my dad passed i made sure we had many good chats and he knew how much i loved him . makes a world of difference for moving on and processing the loss. thanks for all the great songs mate your a bloody champion
The guy’s a fantastic bloke, regardless of my taste in music. Playing up to his image (and his tweets) made him go up massively in my estimation
Such a nice genuine lovely human being James Blunt.
I could listen to James speak all day long!
It’s very sad the way the media and other artists treated James. He seems alright to me
he's such a nice guy. I've always loved his interviews.
Absolutely fabulous man ❤
What a nice man, funny and entertaining and open and humble. Posh? Or just a normal nice guy that has morals and respect? I think to keep that in this day and age like he has is pretty marvellous. He has some amazing stories and experiences, and that just shows you he is a good man or else these opportunities would not have presented themselves to him. Well done James
James never change we love you ….Australia
JB is special. The world would be a better place if there were more like him.
I enjoyed this interview, a very relaxed and honest James
Always loved his music, its very moving, each song is a story in its own right. Never understood the hate for his vocals either, he has a nice clear voice and I can hear every word. Its great sing along music.
James..you my devine being are the dogs bollox. Brilliant and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your magnificence with me...its all about me, of coarse.. ❤
What a beautifully humble guy.
Blunt is a legend...brilliant lad...great fun to hear interviewed.
Intelligent self aware likeable human being.
We could do with a lot more people like James.
Thinking a James Blunt / Chris Martin duet would hit the notes that this planet needs right now - inspired kindness. Respect James Blunt - you're beautiful - a soulful interview🤍👌🏽
The actual true definition of a star.
Great interview, even better book! Respect for his career both military & musical. His gigs are great fun! Congrats James Blunt 👏👏👏
Yes, really, really disappointed to hear that, because I fancied him for years and still admire his music.
Just goes to show how sad a lot of these people are regardless of their musical talent. Music should be democratic, not a closed cartel! Live and let live
And The Style Council - makes me feel robbed now, hearing tweets he made.
As James said -- some are so childish and have ego's larger than their IQ. Its strange how James claims his emotions are locked and only come out in song; and yet we can see the emotion when taking about his father.
I Saw James live and he was an absolutely fantastic musician, I'll never forget it.
James Blunt top bloke!
I’ve always been a loud supporter of James and his music, man… this was such a great interview. I was mesmerised throughout the whole thing. Great guy.
James, thank you for your hard work and artistry.
James Blunt is a great lyricist, listen to Goodbye My Lover, we have all been there with those feelings and thoughts. If you get the chance to see him live, it's an absolute riot.
Always loved James Blunt, beautiful voice, lovely man, highly emotive music ❤ inspirational 🙏
It's not the problem thats the problem, It's your thoughts about the problem,Thats the problem. Namaste.
My children aged 11,9 and 5 have never heard of Noel Gallagher or Damon Albarn, but they love JB, and can recognize his tracks within the first few seconds of being played. High performance!
Fantastic interview, left to tell the story.
Love his humour, and music , such a decent , honest, moral man ❤
Really good interview. Very intelligent and witty guy. His music is polished.
