This song hits you somewhere deep in your soul and evokes memories of a past life. Our lives were enriched by the writer of this song and the brilliant way it was sung by hermans hermits.
This song is one of my favorite. I am millennial generation and live in east part of this world. Sometimes when I remember my father, I search all of the songs I can remember during my childhood time.
I liked Herman's Hermits at the zenith in the 60s but it took a documentary on Sky Art to hear this tremendous song for the first time. I was blown away and I can't stop listening to it
I don't know what it is this song always moves me I suppose you could call this song a bubblegum song but it always conjures up memories of the great time I had back in the '60s the fabulous music the brilliant parties and everything that went along with the Parties thank you, ladies, you made a man of me if I could go back now you wouldn't see my bum for dust I will be gone God Bless all the Guys and Gals back then and of them that have sadly left us didn't we have a ball who agrees Love Nige well we still got the Music xx but memories we have still got xx
Love it was on juke box,at college and played back to back by me. Drove people nuts. When they took it off the juke box I was given it. Boy did I cry. Best gift ever.
I attended a Herman's Hermits concert in the early 2000's and waited in line for Peter to sign many of his albums I owned. I asked him why he doesn't perform "My Sentimental Friend" as part of his concert. He said, it wasn't a hit in America, no one would want to hear it". I beg to differ! Such a beautiful song.
Great job ... PETER NOONE, my great loved ... you're awesome, luv you more ... much thanks to my most loved band Herman's Hermits ... luv you too! Thank you so much RUclips ... more power. From Philippines w/ love ... Mabuhay !!!
Phillipe Cook Funny thing about that Philipe of the many songs I've heard over the years and their have been many .Songs I can still (vaguely )remember where I was when this song came out in 69 I was 5 1/2 It's funny that .
My mom used to have this song on a Mixed Tape. When I moved from home, I snuck it out. And still own it. Sadly enough, it has suffered much and the song is barely recongizable anymore. So, thank you very much for a whole lot of childhood memories and a heartbreakingly beautiful song.

The song is Herman's Hermits' second highest charting song in the UK, reaching No. 2 in the UK chart. I was introduced to Herman's Hermits through this song. It was the Sports Day at my school in 1986 (I was 12) when the teacher-in-charge played this song through a mini compo. When I asked him if this is an oldie, he quickly gave the tapes for me to bring it home for my listening pleasure. 😊
Haven't thought of this song for over 30 years. This was a B-side I used to listen to over and over as a kid. Gotta love RUclips. Thanks for sharing it.

Today's Music and Song don't have the same Soul
Ask yourself why such artists as Taylor Swift are beloved.
Then cease posting lies.
1969 was one of the very best if not the best year for mainstream music, and this song is one of the best.

Back in the era when music was sung by gifted singers and musicians.
There was always a message in in, just for you.
She just never realised the hurt, the letter, phone call never came, so many years now.
Takes me back to my childhood in the sixties.
In 1969, my 7mos.old niece was crying everytime I sing this song to her. So cute with her tears falling on her cheeks. My mom used to get mad at me...
Without doubt their best song.
It is a nice song, but I would say NO MILK TODAY is their best song. And SOMETHING IS HAPPENING etc.
