My neighbor just gave me a MAC 10-10 Automatic. You're so right, it's nice. Runs good, nice sound, fairly easy to start. Just a squat of ether and way to go.
That's Awesome Steve, yeah great old saws!😊
Nice work. Your right about the rules, never lend chainsaws, trailers, gun dogs or wives to friends.
Ha ha! rules to live by!
Those 10-10 saws you have are In excellent shape!! They definitely are a good go 2 saw! Good strong running units! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Buddy!
Just came in from some McCullicutting, and decided to see whats new. The 10-10 basic model had manual oiling, the 10-10 automatice had both auto and manual oiling. When running them, you could tell by the sound that one revs faster than the other. I found that some of the basic models have an intake gasket that covers half the intake port, so as to make a docile home owners saw. Some of the later ones had a cylinder with an extra port in it for more power. Lots of small differences over the years.
Yeah Mcculloch had some interesting designs, I've yet to try any porting or Cylinder Mods but it looks interesting, I'm just terrible with numbers!
That wonderful McCulloch snarl...in stereo...music to my North Idaho ears
Thanks Jeremy!😊
I have a mint McCulloch Pro 10-10 automatic that my grandfather bought new and gave to me. It’s my prized possession. Rarely gets ran but I always know without a doubt it’ll start right up.
That's Awesome Tyler! Love those old Mac 10s!😊
That's awsome ever time I see one of these saws I think about my dad
Those Mac saws were ahead of there time. Great vid Dan.
Thanks Clint!
My Dad had 1,it had a 16 inch bar on it.
That pro 10-10 is one of the best saws made black top. They can still run with new saws.
Oh yeah!
That sound is awesome
Nice!! Just got a 10-10 auto. Its got a oil pump button though. Is it a auto oiler ? Im tuning it up slowly and figuring it out. Missing bar plates. Not sure if mine needs them or not. I ordered a set along with new plug
I think they had both...and yeah bar plates should be there...😊
Cool garage man and cars and saws !
Thanks Mick!😊
Thanks for sharing your Mac 10-10.
What size of chain and blade should I buy to repair mine?
Thanks in advance
Thanks Ronnie, They all take 3/8 chain as far as I know, 20-24 inch bar is perfect for these. Thanks for watching!😊
Great vid!
I have one now but haven’t started it yet. It’s a late 60’s i believe has the starter on the right side.
Nice! Old School😁
This is awesome 👍👍
Just came to the channel, soaking up all I an about these pro 10-10's since I just picked one up. I've been looking for that manual everywhere, and also the repair manual. Any way i can get a couple of your manual, or info where to get one? Thanks
Thanks for watching Buddy! I'll see if I can make some copies, email me your address at kainkustom@charter.net
I have a manual if you would like hit me up !
The Mc Culloch Pro MAC 10-10 is the best chainsaw ever to be produced !!! My friend Allan Spitterson uses this chainsaw to break world records in his backyard !
This saw is a beast, has he sais it's got big b*lls !
Awesome!😁
I need some parts, do you have any extra starter paws with the springs for a 10-10?
Sorry Man, no extra starter stuff, take a look on Ebay, usually stuff there...😊
I have a mac 10-10 but it's with the black covers. Also the super pro 81, but that full wrap is super cool.
Awesome!
Dan, are all 10-10A’s an automatic oiler? My friend has 1 that he got from his dad where his dad is getting to old to run. His Mac doesn’t want to self oil but the manual oiler seems to work very well.
BTW, I didn’t see any kind of a oiler output adjustment, do they have 1 and if so where is it located so that I might turn it up to max level for him.
it's in the tank
What would you prefer to run in a pm 610 that’s stock? I just bought one an don’t know the fuel mix I need. I think it’s 40:1
Hi Seth, yeah 40:1 is fine, I run it in all my old saws...Thanks for watching!😁
20:1 - brother-in-law ran 40:1 in mine and seized the rings. Don’t loan your saw. My son is the exception for all my engines.
I have a collection of over 30 of them running and scads of parts saws. They were built back when you could work on a chainsaw without disassembling the entire thing. Basic tools, minimal knowledge.
That's Awesome Casey, yes they are a great saw for sure, sort of a timeless legend!😊
I've got 3, 2 that run, one for parts. Would you be willing to sell some parts?
@@rickhofsess84 what all do you need? I don't get rid of carbs, but let me know and we'll see
I beg to differ, I rebuilt a super ez auto from that time, and you have to completey disassemble it and split the crankcase to change the oil filter. Pro Mac 610’s are also a pain to work on
I was looking at a McCulloch saw in the store, but they also have a more expensive battery powered model ... would i be better off sticking to petrol power?
Hmmm...didn't know Mcculloch still had stuff out there..I would go with gas powered of course, but that's just me..😊
@@KainKustomGarage .. Yes, agreed
Im a big fan of mcculloch and the 1010 series is great. The 600, 700 and 800 series too. Lots of power with team Yellow!!!
Yessir!
Hey buddy I found it. Sweet saws. From what I can tell first off is your chain tension is to tight and robbing power from the saw. Make sure they are getting plenty of oil to the chain. Do they have the spark arrestor in them? If they do take them out and burn them off or leave them out for a few cuts and see how they run. The first one you started sounded like it couldn't get the exhaust out, or maybe not getting enough air. If the air filters are clean then it is probably something with the exhaust. Hope this helps brother. 🌲❤🌲✊🪓
Thanks man! Yeah, I never checked the exhaust on them and I really need to get sprocket nose bars for them as well...I'm learning Thanks to guys like you man!👊👊
@@KainKustomGarage chain tension with those Ole hard nose bars plays a big role in ease of the motor. If to tight that tip gets super hot.🌲❤🌲✊🪓
Thanks Kenny!👊👊
I had a pro 1010 auto given to me when I was 16. It hadn’t run for 20 years, found it in my dads shed. It was always a bear to start when it was cold out. Dumped the fuel, added new fuel, pulled it like 12 times, and it popped with the choke on. I thought no way. It’s gonna run? Sure enough pulled it again, fired up.
Heck yeah Brother!😉
How do you put point them
Nice pair of saws.
Thanks Mark!
Thanks for the macculloch history there they're my favorite saw I got a bunch of them they got a lot of noise but I kinda like the sound of RPM's you can't beat it and two stroke oil in the air oh oh it don't get any better than that 12,013 thousand RPM's Yee Haw
Thanks Mike! I appreciate the feedback buddy!😁
Hi, I’m looking for an ignition coil for my 1976 Mac 10-10. Can anyone help me out. Ty
Sorry man, Don't have any extras, maybe somebody on here will see this...😉
does yours have a grease zerk in the head? mine does and I have no clue why the only thing I can think is to decompress because it's missing the little ball in the zerk
That's interesting Kyler, where is it on the saw? I'll look on mine....
@@KainKustomGarage it's right next to the spark plug. It's the weirdet thing I've seen
@@kylersims6016 Yeah, that's crazy. Mine don't have that...lol
@@kylersims6016 kyler it’s a decompression button! It originally has a red plastic cap on it. Makes restarting on those hot starts soooo easy. Tap the cap, pull it over gently once or twice then yank it and you’re running again!
I bought one in 1983 & is still kicking.Heavy ,but wonderful reliable, not a lumber jack kind of work,. light gardening. thanks to the manufacture company,& the video.((Never lent policy ) sorry.
Thanks for watching!😊
I got a 10-10 lightweight and a mac10-10 auto love them saws i think they are stronger than the newer pro mac 10-10.
I've got one very similar to the on the left but its right hand pull
Nice! Yeah, Mcculloch made some right hand start models, pretty unique!
they could do that before chain brakes started getting implemented.... no choice after just too much stuff on the same side
Have five versions of the pro-mac. Great power head.
That's Awesome!😉👍👍
Weirdly enough, my Pro Mac 10-10 is a manual oiler. I'm assuming mine is the older model. Has the exhaust cover
Thanks Mr Crabs! Does She run?
@@KainKustomGarage She runs good. I bought her off a guy who did heavy landscaping. So she was run hard. He was the second owner of her. Then I bought it off of him for 212 and needed a new bar and chain since the original bar was twisted at the slightest angle. I'd like to rebuild and restore it in the near future. Whenever I pull the rope when she's cold, the compression is great. Whenever I pull when she's hot, I can pull somewhat easily, making me believe she possibly needs a new setta rings and or sleeve (if they use one). Maybe I'll even port it if I have extra time. For the time being, she runs good! Starts right up. I do think it has a little blowby, since around the carb gets a lil gassy after a good few cuts. I think in two strokes blowby is noticed if it spits gas and oil back through the carb and into the air cleaner.
What the heck, If She still runs decent keep on a truckin!
@@KainKustomGarage I also tuned the carb to where she SINGS. She really sings when I'm cuttin the cherry logs. In our back yard we have a huge pile of five year old cherry logs. Man, that mac does not get fed up in that pile! SHE WANTS TO EAT LOL
..I think they started making the 10-10's around 1965-66-67 time period..not long after the Homelite XL-12 started production..hey, trying to figure out what that car is behind you..fenders/lights look like '37 Ford..but the grill doesn't look like a '37..looks more like a '34 or '35?...special model, or is it some sort of hybrid?....
Thanks man, That's my old Hotrod, 36 Ford body, modified 35 grille and hood 37 headlights frenched into the 36 fenders...it's my Frankenstein Rod! I have a couple videos of it on here if you wanna check it out😊
Looks like the pro has the chain brake a regular doesnt like mine does not have one.
Yeah, seems to be the case🤔
Bloody hell my dad has a Pro Mac one and still is a good runner believe it or not original chain, it would be 40 years old +
Wow, thats Awesome! 👊👊👊
Back when they where metal love those square caps
😉👍👍
Hi I have a 10 10 automatic. and am looking for an original bucking dog spike.Any ideas?🙂
Hey buddy! I usually find them on Ebay, I'd send ya one if I had one but I used em all up!
@@KainKustomGarage Thanks. I've seen the ones on Ebay and the are just a flat piece of metal the original ones seem to lap over the cover closer to the chain. I haven't seen an original on Ebay yet.
Yes you're right, I made the mistake of buying the flat ones, they are for the 600 series saws, keep lookin, they pop up sometimes, ill look too...
@@KainKustomGarage 😁👍

Heres one that may work, look at the pics but I think it would work on a 10-10 as well
The tank assembly and ignition seem to be the two main differences.
Pretty much...😁
Nice for a saw that doesn't say HOMELITE on it. 😄 Wonder how I would have turned out if my Dad hadn't been a HOMELITE man? Great video.
I've ran a few homelites, haven't found a good one yet. But, that's just my opinion.
Except maybe the XL-12. There were solid.
@@johnhartmann4762 I think my brother in law nailed it. Homelites are temperamental... He ran them in the bigger timber in Colorado. He ran a forest service clearing crew one year too. Everybody got brand new Homelites one year. He told them your saw is your saw for the season. Once I get mine tuned to suit me nobody touches my saw. He understood them very well. He even ran a late model McCulloch. Double Eagle was the model I think. He had the knack to get the best out of what he ran. He finally ended up with 044 and 064 Stihl as his two money makers on a huge logging operation for a few years. Guess he gave up and went totally modern finally...
@@johnhartmann4762 And yeah, those old XL 12s were like little engines that could for millions of firewood and medium timber cutters for decades.
Yeah the 57cc saws are the pro mac 55, pro mac 570, the pro mac 555, and lastly the 10-10s
Seems like this saws starts easy and are relaiable saws. Looks good, sounds good. But you old 10-10 might has lost a little of its optimum compression....i suspect he he not only to adjust the carb... i suspect. Could be wrong of course. I have one myself and so happy about that...but had it just for a couple of weeks and not used it much so far. Need to have accsess to good wood also. It will come. Thx for sharing. Nice ones ! 🙂
Thanks for the Kind words and input! Yeah you're right, they weren't running at their best, I really need to take them apart, clean the exhaust, put carb kits in and basically give em a good once over...I'll do a follow up video in the future...😊
@@KainKustomGarage Yes. Old saws can have very much individual strenght and power in them. You know the compression is the alfa and omega...in such regard...but allot of other things also influence the end result...power level. It could be a lot of things that makes one saw hesitate and another eager and fresh and strong. But to mesure the compression is a very easy thing to do. Anyway...everything can be done and it is just a matter of difference in amount of work. But with mcculloch you beeing fund of and is good and cool equipment.. Well worth it. Very good stuff ! :-) Good luck ! :-)
Mcculoch Chainsaw 😎Greetings from Germany
Hello from America!👊👊
@@KainKustomGarage Hello....😎
I have an early pro mac still in the box.
Wow, that's Awesome!😁
They truly dont make chainsaws like they used to anymore. I know they are loud, big, bulky and a bit more dangerous than whats manufactured today, but you cant beat the durability and quality of McCulloch, Homelite and Poulan saws from the 60s and 70s
For sure Brother, alot of them still working today💪💪
Yup..everyone need a 1010 in their collection.
Oh yeah!
I believe the 81 is 82 cc
Just picked up a Super 10-10 auto, can’t find any info on the super. What gives? Why are they super?
Hmmm....honestly, I'm not sure🤔
Buckin Billy Ray Smith approved.
I could only hope so, He runs em way better than I ever could!😉
I've got the Pro Mac 10-10 here in England. My next door neighbour get's pissy because it's so loud lol
edit: mines a manual oiler.
Nice! Neighbors love em!🤣
Made in negara mana ini om
Non nice looking 10-10's...remember using them on wildland fires remember them being hard starting...surprised to see a early chain brake on the pro mac must of been a late 70s...early 80s...yes always preferred the Homelite Super XL...had a Pro 80 sold it to a friend to restore a few years ago...enjoy your videos Shoe in SW Oregon....ps been on alot of fires up in your area through the years on the Wenatchee Okanogan NF...
That's Awesome Shoe! Yes lots of fires up here the last couple of years...My Wife was born and Raised in Burns Oregon! Appreciate you man!😁
I think the 1010 pro has a different jetted carb or a different carb altogether anyway these saws sound pretty weak compared to other McCulloch 1010 that I've seen
Yeah, these saws sit most of the time so the carbs need kits, I agree they were sounding a little sluggish in the video...
Thanks for watching!
@@KainKustomGarage the only reason I know that is because I watch buckin Billy Ray if you don't know who he is you should check them out sky is a McCulloch holic
@@davidaix5771 Oh yeah, I watch Buckin, I wish he could tune my saws for me! His run good!
@@KainKustomGarage oh yeah
The pro has a wider "throat" to it. In my experience. The standard 10-10 is restricted to some degree. It's very easy to gain same power simply by opening up the intake.
I just found a power Mac 310 in the trash and bought a parts saw on eBay for a hundo
Nice!😁
Wanna own one some day
You see em much out there?
@@KainKustomGarage see one once in a while, missed one a little while ago, didn't have the cash on hand
Aww man...
My gramps had one in his trailer

I have a 10-10 and it's powerful.
For sale now and some good ball wants me to sell it fo 40 bucks!
Unbelievable
