I personally loved the slow start because I didn't know anything about the game beforehand. I thought the alien could pop out at any moment, so I was scared from the start lol 2:46 You mean the Amnesia: The Dark Descent kind of game?
Best of luck to the developers. Alien is tricky to get right, especially because fans of Alien and fans of Aliens often want different things from a video game. Alien Isolation did well, but that also means expectations are probably higher than they should be for a sequel. But as I said, best of luck.
I remember exactly where I was when I watched Max's Alien: Isolation playthrough. Boy was it one of the few legit happy moments of my life. Wish I could go back. I guess that's why I kinda enjoy this game and feel positive when people talk about it.
I remember when Disney bought Fox 5 years ago, I thought that this series would never go back to formula. Alien Romulus comes out and I was wrong for the right reasons
The only thing I want is the alien to be functionally the same or better than in isolation. They can do literally whatever else they want with the new game and I’d be happy.
I waited with anticipation for Isolation back in the day - still in school - still figuring my life out. And since then, I've played this game more times than anything else - more than I can count. What a perfect game. From the paces this game puts you through, to the DLCs that're provided. It's truly an immaculate showcase of love from fans of an IP - a perfect recreation. Not only did the original 1979 cast reprise their roles as voice actors - but they got William Hope, freakin Lt. Gorman from Aliens - to play Marshal Waits.
Great stuff Max. Alien: Isolation is awesome, I didn't mind the slow build up but when it gets going man it is quality stuff. When you see the Alien for the First Time guys, it's defo Heart Pounding. I'd love CA to team up Paradox and make a game with the battles of Total and the politics and scheming and court events of Crusader King's but Im also really hyped for Alien Isolation 2
I loved the whole game. I don't feel the beginning of the game was too slow at all. It was pretty much just like the movies where things start out eerie/mundane and then like the movies all hell breaks loose. I also loved how long the game was. I hope the 2nd game is just the same pace and length wise. I played it when it first released and several times more. I have to literally stop myself from playing it every year so I don't wear it out. If the sequel is going to have you play as Amanda again I hope the game starts out slow as she gets rescued from space then gets looped into some mess of a crumb trail where her mom is.
While this is good news I'm not gonna get too hyped and excited. I doubt much of the original team is still there who worked on the first game. Its good that the original director is coming back for the sequel which is fantastic news because it'll be his vision once again. Whether or not they can execute it again will remain to be seen.
I went the same route. When it came out I couldn't get into it. Tried a few times over the years. Then a little while after the switch port it was on sale. Loved it. i'm not the biggest horror fan and not the biggest alien fan tbh, but this game is great, i feel that this game gets the survival on point, more than any other game in the genre, and while it did't get me scared, no horror stuff has done that, this game managed to make me feel tense that the xenomorph could appear at anytime, and that's awesome, now the thing about the alien franchise that i'm a fan, it's the xenomorph design and isolation delivered a fun alien experience
If you have a Xbox Series X you can play at 60 fps mode. I finished it a couple of years ago and loved pretty much every bit of it. So happy we are getting a sequel ♥
My excitment is through the roof i love this game so much and felt that it got snubbed so hard and got sort of buried but has since seemingly started being played by everyone i see it everywhere and finally having a sequel in development is like a vindication to me against all the IGN's and people who played the first 15 minutes and gave up instead of sticking through what is actually a pretty unique experience in gaming.

1:24 That's intentional, and worked very well for me.
You have some pull to be heard....they need to make this VR compatible and normal 1st person....I think VR with the same visuals would be awesome and scary AF!!
Actually I don’t mind the slow pacing at the beginning. We need that more in gaming. Letting you admire the surroundings, get in the mood and let the atmosphere sink in and that’s why alien was good just like aliens was for the more fast paced story
i'm not the biggest horror fan and not the biggest alien fan tbh, but this game is great, i feel that this game gets the survival on point, more than any other game in the genre, and while it did't get me scared, no horror stuff has done that, this game managed to make me feel tense that the xenomorph could appear at anytime, and that's awesome, now the thing about the alien franchise that i'm a fan, it's the xenomorph design and isolation delivered a fun alien experience
I imagine the teams that made the original was busy all this time making Hyenas (who remembers that?!?). I guess they're keen to go back to their roots.
No, they seek to compensate for their losses after realizing that doing another generic GAAS slop was a waste of time.
@@azogdefiler25incredibly pessimistic of you. In reality they always likely wanted to do a sequel but until the successussy of romulus the higher ups were finally convinced.
I remember watching digital foundry cover the switch version of this game and like the fact it's arguably the best looking version of the game outside of PC and runs well is genuinely insane to me.
Imo the big problem with a sequel for Alien isolation 10+ years later, people will hype it up crazy expecting heaven on earth stuff.
I freakin love Isolation but if people expect to much that's when things can go crashing down fast.
This is great day for the fans that stayed loyal and appreciated this work of art
Has Max played Control yet? He's gonna love it
Said he is playing control and AW2 on october. Also said he is checking out metaphor refantasio soon which is problably an AD.
@@BreadStapledToTrees 100% gonna be an ad stream. Hell will freeze over before max plays an atlus game of his own free will
THE SURVIVAL HORROR GOATS are coming back one by one.. 👏👏👏 we getting remakes and sequels year after year ❤❤❤
Resident Evil
Dead Space
Allan Wake
Silent Hill
Alien Isolation
(The Evil Within needs to be free from Xbox)
So hyped for this!
Did Max play the Nostromo expansion DLC?
I preordered the game way back when, i was super looking forward to it, i love the concepts in Alien.
I still havent beaten the medical centre at the start of the game because ive always been either too scared, or too irritated by how the games saving system works, its one of my biggest gaming regrets, that i have yet to finish it, and now a sequel is in the works.....can i finally return to the game after 10 years?
Oooh Max, you think it's good now, a modded vr playthrough is something special.
1:29 I tell people the same thing about Borderlands 2. The beginning is slow and boring until you get to Sanctuary, where the game REALLY picks up.
Of course the beginning is slow. It’s called building tension.
I never beat this game, it was a lil too long for me, but MY GOD is it effective. There’s so much INTENT behind so many of the decisions, from weird door unlocking minigames to vulnerable manual save stations to the most worthless pistol of all time.
I would love for you to do another run of Isolation in nightmare mode. I always get a laugh or two when you stream your playthroughs. Can't wait 'til this upcoming Alien game 🎮 comes out
I loved the DLC for Isolation. I still play it today actually. Endless replay value there. 👽💜
Hey Max, when is the Dino crisis stream going to happen?
We really are living in the right timeline
I loved it 10 years ago and also actively ignored IGN as an entire website so I had no idea they reviewed it poorly until a few years ago.
Really glad they are, it’s my most feared game to play.
We’re getting Alien Isolation 2, Red Dead Redemption 1 was announced for PC today, what a good couple of days for gamers
Now, all we need is Bloodborne remake/remaster and pc release
