You didn't mention the return of Donald, who died in episode 7 of season 1, but is back this episode. In the comics, Donald is a cyborg.

invincible is one of those rare projects that takes a source material and elevates it to the next level. they hit the emotional character beats so well while adding new dimensions to characters and restructuring the story so well. so happy with what they’ve done so far and i can’t wait to keep watching this season!
It’s rare to have a project being violet after but also super sincere with the story

It’s partially because the comic’s author is involved in the script and is using this as an opportunity to do a rewrite of his story. It’s a very different style compared to a The Boys, in which the comic author has little involvement.
I actually like the maulers a lot lol they’re like genuinely villains but still have the same reaction as the audience when something goes down.
Also, they work well as being the ones people go to in order to get help. While they are villains, they can be trusted to some extent because of their egos. They are too proud of their own work to deliberately sabotage their inventions.

The Maulers are just BARELY villains. Throughout the comics, various versions of them genuinely reform. Their attempted murder of Invincible in this episode is by far the worst thing they ever do, and almost feels out of character for them. It's also the action that has the most serious consequences, as Angstrom causes some very serious issues for Mark. I always got the sense that the creation of Angstrom's villainous form is really all their fault.
Ive said since S1 ended, that S2 needed to start in the alternate dimension and confuse the heck out of non-comic fans. A great way to start and a great episode.
At first I thought Mark or the Immortal dude was just dreaming 😂😂.

The “pet” thing makes a lot of sense if you really think about it; her lifespan is like 2.5% of his total life expectancy! Crazy to think about
In the comics, she actually ages untill she dies, then her powers take over and she reborns to be an 22-ish year old. Technically, she can't die.

Levi Angstrom was BLACK in the comics wayyyyyy before MCU tried a Black Kang. Levi was introduced in issue 16, circa 2004, whereas MCU tried black Kang in 2021. INVINCIBLE’s diversity worked BEST because they were diverse from the start, instead of just painting an established character Black just because …. Muh Diversity.
I wouldnt say its following the multiverse saga Angstrom Levy is Marks nemesis for a bit of the comic run. Marvel isnt the center of the creative universe.

Always great hearing Grey DeLisle, she is probably my one of my top 5 voice actors. Azula is iconic and it kind of sound like them with the two main heros you listed.
Isn't Grey DeLisle a stage name? I thought her real name was Sasha Gray.
Im happy they did the alternate universe cold open evil mark is so disturbing angstorm was prefect casting. I love bullets proof's even though he was only in one scene im so excited that angstorm's already gone insane this season is off to a great start.
A couple things you got wrong:
-Season 2 wasn’t “Inspired by” Kang or even Marvel. This story was written like 15 years ago and just happens to feature a Multiverse plot. Simon, the shows co runner, executive producer, and the writer for this episode actually reiterated that in an interview with Heavy Spoilers, himself.
-Nolan wasn’t labeled as a casualty of the battle in Chicago. The “official” story is that he died when the house across the street blew up. Obviously it was Donald detonating the house, but Cecil mentioned how they made it out to be a damaged gas line. This is why, when Todd hugs Mark, he says “Sorry your dad got exploded”
Either way, great video!
He said the mauler with the full bodysuit was probably from a dimension with a harsh environment. I see him as something influenced by the first appearance of Doomsday perhaps?

Also appreciate that nice touch of reusing the bloody title card from season 1 finale and shifting it to the Season 2 theme
I like how Mark looks more Asian with his eyes that makes him look more like his mother and also I like it because his voice actor Steven yuen is Korean 😂

(spoilers ahead) in the comics he's a cyborg from the start. i think that in the show, the part where he dies is a way to explain the cyborg thing more ahead. but yeah he a cyborg

Omniman is what happens when you think you have a kryptonian but end up with a saiyan. Right down to the stronger crossbreeds
They are def waaaay more Saiyan than Kryptonian, esp how they get stronger after a beating

At the end of season 1 it was said that the cover story for Nolan is that he died in the explosion across the street from their house not in Chicago
So we just ignoring the fact that Donald just survived that explosion from Season 1 Finale (plus his back being snapped)! (Him, being a cyborg and all). Also, The title having a crack, instead of blood, like a crack in the Multiverse.
Monster girl during the fight against the giant straight up was like hulk during the battle of New York literally jumps like him uses the wall to slide down and then catches Rudy just like saving iron man
Man we are so lucky to have gotten these 3 shows all in such a short timeframe.

whats funny is that invincible comics did a kang or time variant story before the movies and tv hows caught on this. though most shows and comics did it , but niche culture.

When Cecil said, "This is what happens when you follow my orders, we did good today. Do you understand me?" it reminded me of Nick Fury lying to the Skrulls for 30 years about finding them a new home as long as they helped keep Earth safe in Secret Invasion.
I love these videos and definitely and gotta say Ryan and his team are killing it, it’s gotta be hard with all these new shows coming out/ having finales all at the same time (Ashoka, GenV, Loki, Invincible now, and the Echo trailer, and more! These are just the tv shows let alone movies!) Can someone confirm that? That Invincible is intentionally referencing and giving nods to MCU, DCU and whatever other superhero universes there are. I know that Invincible is its own thing and based on a comic of the same name, but I haven't read it. I can see the references to classic DC superheros with the now dead and old Guardians of the globe, but referencing something way too recent like Kang or the MCU's multiverse saga feels like stretch. When I saw Angstrom, Kang was not the first thing to pop to my mind...
Tldr, thinking that everything is a reference to some more well-known, big franchise is a bit arrogant, and it annoys me...just a bit. And now I'm a fricking snowflake lol

It's worth noting that the comics used the word "dimension" in two different ways (and even commented on the confusion this causes). In this episode, the word dimension refers to alternate timelines/realities in the multiverse. The Flaxans (the rapidly aging aliens from season one), however, live in a different dimension in the sense that it's a universe that exists alongside our own, which is normally inaccessible, where physics and space-time operate differently (perhaps analogous to the MCU's Quantum Realm). I, personally, can't wait for the story arc involving Robot, Monster Girl, and the Flaxans!

Big fan but I think you should familiarize yourself with the comics more. Most of the things you said were references are specifically from the invincible comments, and sure, are similar to other superhero media but are not references or based off of them.

No, it’s not inspired by Kang, the conqueror, the Multiverse soga at all. The invincible comic book came out more than 15 years ago. If anything using cross time travel to go to alternate universe is with something that was done in the 1960s in an episode of the original Star Trek series. Angstrom Levy is more like Rick Sanchez, than Kang.
Is it really fair to say that so many of these Easter Eggs are references to moments from the MCU? The source material for this show concluded BEFORE the release of Endgame. Sure, the original comics were commenting on the superhero comic genre, and certainly paid homages and made references to Marvel comics. But, the Invincible comics were also very influential in their own right. You could just as easily say that lines and moments from recent MCU films were homages to moments from the Invincible comics.
Watching this video, I literally had ONE question that plagued me that I know any easter egg show high on details would catch… how could it not. Its the most obvious non sequitur in the entire episode.

Not sure I'm a fan of the new "better" animation. Some characters just seem like redesigns they're so different like the maulers but ESPECIALLY Immortal. He loses that chiseled jaw and grizzled look with all the smooth edges

Please do your research... the show is almost entirely based on the comics, in which they explore the multiverse thing with many different versions of mark way before the MCU. The show is not "inspired" by the mcu, it already happened in the comics before the MCU. Thats a bad take

did it bother anyone else, just a little bit (still enjoyed the episode) , that the explosion started at the main Levy guy's chair, all the Mauler's die except for one, and they have superhuman durability & healing factors, yet Levy survives and he doesn't even have superhuman durability or healing? just took me out of it a bit and then his evil monologue was so generic evil cringe. Again, I really enjoyed the episode for the most part but that bit was not the greatest. it's like they knew where they wanted the character to be and just rushed to get him there. almost like someone forgot to replace his placeholder evil monologue

Really really really really stupid that Rudy is now in the suit instead of piloting it remotely it seems like it’s way more dangerous and useless like why would he intentionally put himself in harms way when he doesn’t have to I mean I was a huge fan of his character last season and the fact that they just basically turned them into Iron Man Junior now what the hell that’s dumb as helll seems like it’s just an excuse to put Rudy in harms way for the riders to easily kill him if they need to
