Thanks for the video I just changed all my systems over to Victron and now have that and lithium battery in my boat as well. I enjoy your content hopefully I will be over in that part of the world the end of the year.
Ant this was an wonderful video as I have had a lot of panic for myself when addressing this topic. I need to switch out my inverter and I am not looking forward to it. I watched this video because you are so easy to follow and I was hoping it would take away my anxiety. I like the graphics you used and the arrows to follow along. I like that you are bilingual and make those adjustments for us Americans. ;)
Great to see you on line again always enjoy watching you make improvements, Finally took delivery of my Bavaria 37 Cruiser 1 year and one month almost to the day of ordering her , sailed 520 miles from Melbourne home to Adelaide via the Southern Ocean in a little under 5 days, fantastic trip and loving the yacht although there are still a couple of issues, no functioning gas cooker and a few minor annoying details, completed our first friendly race and got second place last weekend on a two day two race competition . Would be great to find some more Bavaria 37 owners on line to compare notes with
I feel I repeat myself every time. Excellent video and I’m looking forward to my similar install. With our 3 cabin config, I’m going to have to give up one of the under seat storage compartments - maybe I’ll add a small 12v fan if it gets hot in such a space. Got that idea from you too ;-).
Thanks for that Ant.. thorough as ever. We're doing a similar install so I'm interesting to hear your thoughts on cables, fuses and circuit breakers in the next video.
Hi Ant & Cid, I hope that you are both keeping well? I have always enjoyed watching your channel for your engineering knowledge and learning from your improvements to Impavidus. Can you please tell me what program you use to produce your electrical circuit diagrams? My wife and I have a 1999 Bav31 and I'm currently looking at the electrical systems on board. Thanks in advance.
Hi John. We use Pages (for Mac) But you can just as easily use MS Word. It is a long time since I used a PC but in word I think it is insert, shape and then customise. In Mac's pages it is just shape, then customise. Sail Safe. Ant.
How about an update now that you have used the victron for a year? How has it performed? Is it very load inside your boat as some folks have reported the multiplus unit to be load inside the boat? Anything you would have done differently?
Wow… sorry right over my head, glad you put a bit of humour in to lift it😄 main thing I’ve learnt from this video is; get someone else in who knows what they’re doing😄 But thanks for your video.
I feel your frustration with Victron. It sounds like Victron is learning from Apple Computer. Once you become a dominant player in part of the market and get "lots of followers," you then apply all kinds of vendor lock-in "extras." Surprisingly, they will be incompatible with other brands and costly for what they provide. Therefore I stay away from equipment that does not follow industrial standards and is not compatible with other brands. Cheers.
Great video! Guess Victron have had to deal with a lot warranty claims from incompetent amateurs who mis-install/mis-configure their kit so make access difficult! Multiplus has been around for a while hence no Bluetooth. I actually think older design is a good thing as Victron accountants have not yet value-engineered out the bulletproof nature of these things! There is a Multiplus II creeping into product line. Raspberry PI works very well; we used one for over two years before upgrading to Cerbo for better I/O and ability to read fuel & water tank levels. Look forward to seeing your RPi video :-) Many thanks.
Its a bit of a minefield for Victron to be honest. But I think they are a good company that look after customers. Let's hope the accountants never get control 😉
