  • @Whaleydavey
    @Whaleydavey 14 дней назад +2

    Beautifully done.
    I would try and get some really hardy plants in there. There are some plants that are so fibrous - fish won’t touch them.
    The reason is that - with all the rocks, you won’t be able to vacuum half the bottom ever. So you may need a little help from the plants to keep the nitrates down.
    The plants you already keep in most of your tanks seem to be fish resistant.

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад +1

      Thank you! We’re on the same page! I really want to have some plants helping me with the natural filtration, gravel vacuuming is never going to be a possibility! These big cichlids will rip apart most plants, that’s why I usually throw plants in the sump or flower pots. I will find a way by the time I’m ready to add fish.

    We use the same heater on our pond and we love it the tank looks so good looks like the bottom or a river you should try to find a dam or a river close to you and look around for driftwood we find really nice pieces when we go look but we live right next to 2 giant lakes so it’s easy for us sometimes just make sure to dry it out first we just let it sit in the sun and make sure it’s not soft cause then it can fall apart and get everywhere

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  15 дней назад

      Yep, it’s an excellent heater. I’m done with driftwood. That’s all I plan on putting in there. Gotta leave room for the fish. Now I just need to get some greenery in there, somehow.

    • @kcm.aquatics
      @kcm.aquatics 15 дней назад

      @ yea I don’t know what to do for greenery might need to look into large pond plants I’d just be worried the fish pulling them out and stuff might do extra large artificial plants or something lol

  • @herphunt
    @herphunt 14 дней назад +1

    Good stuff bro ! I think you shoulld still put the 3500 on a small 12in footer either way wonderful job

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад

      Thank you Bro! And no doubt! I’m building the 3000g on raised cinder blocks to prevent it from water damage if I ever flood a tank or sump, which unfortunately happens more than I’d like. 😅 learning from OFR with their 3000g. All that water soaking into the wood foundation of the 3000g is causing it to constantly leak nonstop, and start breaking down. It could be a catastrophic failure any day, luckily they’re about to set up the steel 3000g any day now.

    You do know the concrete blocks may take a year or longer before they’re done leaching out lime into your aquarium. The line will definitely do a number on your pH on that aquarium. my suggestion to you is to pull the cement blocks out of the aquarium and let them cure in a little outside pond for a year before using them.

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад

      You do know this is not the first time I’ve used cinder blocks right? It doesn’t take a year to leach the chemicals out of freshly poured cement. And it takes no time for the cinder blocks. I haven’t had any issues with them in my indoor pond as of 2yrs or my outdoor pond for over a year. I don’t know what to tell you. Like I said many times before, do what you’re comfortable with. I have experience with throwing cinder blocks right in and not having any problems.

  • @KBsfishhouse
    @KBsfishhouse 15 дней назад +3

    Looking good brotha, love how you anchored the wood to the pavers. Definitely going to have to bite that technique lol 😂! Can you do a video on how much it’s costing you in electricity and water a month for both rooms? Just wanted the idea of how much it’s going to cost me when I set my garage up. Also, did you upgrade any of your electrical sockets or add any electrical sockets?

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад

      Thanks Bruh, you can definitely but that idea! As for the electricity and water bill. It’s not that bad, but everyone’s bills are going to be different. I can make a video talking about it.

  • @jonathane317
    @jonathane317 14 дней назад +4

    It looks good, just the concrete blocks don't look great maybe paint them black and put some rocks and fake plants to hide them. The rest of the aquarium looks 👌

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад +2

      I’ve mentioned in numerous videos why I have the cinder blocks, but if you missed it, the reason for the cinder blocks is because I need them to climb in and out the tank. It’s a 4ft high tank. Climbing in and out is practically impossible. The tank is 7ft off the ground and it’s extremely difficult to climb in and out of a tank that’s 4ft tall.

    • @jonathane317
      @jonathane317 14 дней назад +1

      @TheFishCorner I didn't say take them out. Just camouflage them so your eye doesn't go right to them and take away from your scape

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад +1

      @jonathane317 oh okay, yea that’s an idea. Not sure how I could do that though. I really don’t want a bunch of fake plants in there… I’m figure it out though. I appreciate the feedback, I’m going to put some thought to it.

    are you keeping the cinder blocks in there? i think it would look better without them. awesome video as usual one of the best fish channels on yt

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад +1

      I’m definitely keeping the cinder blocks in the tank. That’s how I climb in and out of the tank. The tank is 4ft tall and climbing in and out of it is almost impossible. It’s just not worth the hassle to do it any other way. It’s multipurpose, it’s my stairs and a hiding structure for the fish. I honestly like the way it looks.

    • @chrisloader5481

    What i did, get some flat slate rock, and use fishing line to tie wood to the slate. Slate is really thin and heavy, so you can then burry the slate in your gravel. Also, i used tree wood and to clear up the slime and mold(that WILL GROW) ,put a few plecos in, they eat the mold and slime.

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  14 дней назад

      The slate rock wouldn’t hold down these pieces. Besides, it’s covered and buried just fine. As for the plecos. I’m not comfortable putting plecos in a plywood aquarium. The could potentially damage the pond shield overtime.
      I appreciate all the feedback though.
