- In this video, I make an Industrial Style Shelf Bracket. I love the look of industrial furniture and all the decor that comes with it, and this shelf bracket has the look I like. A nice MIG Welding Project using rebar
I hope you enjoy my video of the rebar shelf bracket project, it was a lot of fun to make. I did make other brackets exactly the same, so I could hang the shelves, I am now thinking of making two much smaller ones of the same style, to put a small shelf on the wall below these shelves.
The flat bar is 43mm wide, 220mm long on each side of the bracket, and 3mm thick. The small rebar is 7mm and the large is 13mm.
The main tools used were a MIG welder, angle grinder, drill, and bench vise.

Note: When you bend metal/rebar, you naturally weaken it. Bending it cold will normally cause fine cracks, and it may even break if you put enough strain on the rebar or bend it in the same place too many times. Do not rely on cold-bent steel/rebar to support a load.

I really love how you hide the welds. This is something I never would have thought of, and now thinking of where I'd incorporate this technique. Keep up the great work!

Nice shelf bracket Gavin.. stronger and nicer than anything I've seen for sale in the hardware stores. The wall would crumble and fall before that bracket would bend or break 👍

Love it. I do the same thing. For ease of measuring i have tubes that I use for measuring. Put rebar in vice and put tube over it so rebar is flush. Makes for quick repeatability.

Very nice build. I like that flush welded brace. When I saw the support bracket I was immediately interested in how you formed that bend right at the end of the re-bar. Very clever. Nicely finished. Thank you for sharing your time and talent.

Ive worked in the industry for 22 years and never seen this fall under steam punk.
