I love The Living End. I think they're super-talented and should be way bigger than they are. They aren't like anything I've heard, even in the whole "Rockabilly" category. Also, they're great to their fans!
I like both bands tons, but you can't say Chris isn't much better than Billie. Chris is a freakin' amazing guitarist, probably the best in punk-rock / rockabilly music.
i heard this song a long time ago, and i loved it. unfortunality i forgot about this band. but youtube helped me rediscover them. high fives to whoever put this up!
one reason why the living end has not become a international smash is because they wont make major labels rich, its the industry that will kill off amazingly talented bands just like the living end. i love em
Actually man green day are with a major lable called reprise, tle are signed with Adeline in US/Canada, JVC in Japan and Dew Process In Australia and they are all Indie lables
@@Redman2910 What do you mean still a fan? They're a band I saw live one time, 15 years ago, who put on a good show. I can't name a single song by them. But if I got the opportunity to see them again, I would.
@@Starburstnova I was just intrigued because The living end have been a huge part of my life. It's rare to hear people talk about them these days so its always refreshing to read old comments like yours.. did you end up looking into them more?
@@Redman2910 I saw them at The Rave in Milwaukee. I probably did look into them a bit but it was so long ago I hardly remember. I should probably look into them again because they did really put on a great show, and I have enjoyed everything I've heard from them.
@luvyouOonot he's also using a Line 6 DL4 delay pedal on the solo and intro, aswell as changing to a slightly heavier distortion then dropping it on the "after-solo"/intro
actually there's 12 notes on a guitar in 3 or 4 different octaves totaling 45 different notes. plus when you play the same note on a different string but still same octave it has a different sound. Also if you count all combination of notes up to 4 note chords that is 45 + 45^2 + 45^3 + 45^4 = 4,193,820. There's harmonics, tap and pinch harmonics, bends, slides, hitting the actual wood of the guitar, hammer-ons, pull-offs, finger tapping, electric guitar distortion and stuff like that.

You know what mate... I used to think the same. When I first got 'American Idiot' I listened to it once then cast it aside. It wasn't until last year that I gave it another chance and realised it is a brilliant album. Sure it doesn't sound like the Green Day of old, but the songs are still amazing. I let go of the whole punk ethos/sell out thing and found it liberating. Give it a try bruvs.
a lot of times it's mainly people like dragonforce who's songs are ridiculously difficult that they suck live, a song doesn't have to be difficult to sound good though.
you gotta respect greenday, but in terms of talent, the living end is SOOOOOOO much better. i mean seriously, you cant compare billy to chris, he doesnt even come close
Ya know how DragonForce has a reputation of sucking live- Well, TLE is the best live act I've ever seen. I thought maiden was supposed to be the best, but get these guys going in a small club for 2 or 3 hours and they knock your socks off.
The only reason Green Day got recognition was due to calling their album, "American Idiot" as well as the song. It's political. Politics always gets a reaction. But the fact remains that most people only know 4 Green Day songs (which are all singles mind you) and many suck.
yea but why did they changed soooo much in their music style after they have hitted the "top". Living End always stayed true to their psychoblly/punkabilly roots.
ha who said aussies are bad? australia is cool as fuck with all those crazy animals you got. wallabees and shit. and aussie chicks love american guys, dont they?
i'm not saying that he's a bad bassist, just the sound itself sounds like hes plucking the strings to hard, and its a bit late to say 'don't you dare' seeing as ive already said it, plus the fact that the upright bass ties all their music together doesnt entail it sounds nice
why is there an argument over selling out instead of enjoying the music, there is far more blatant sell outs anyways such as Rn B and Pop music. I do agree with anyone that thinks American idiot was shit though because that was dreadfull
why can u people even compare gay day to living end, Living end have soooooo much more talent in any perspective. gay day are just a band that got their fame from mainstream media, unlike living end who fought all the way to the top, trough the underground music scene!
greenday r good but as far as their music and tallent goes the living end kill greenday, greenday just sell more records and get more fans bcoz they r on a bigger lable and advertise more
I like both green day and the living but it is very hard to compare them in my opinion they both have the same skill, chris chenny is a better guitar player but not by much, if you listen to old school green day theres some sweet guitar solos, and billy is a better singer. Scott and mike both play different types of bases and are both good at what they do but scotts probly better cuz double bass is harder to play and tre cool is way better then Andy.
well ,,i'm not against chevy chase is better in talent than billie joe,, in terms of guitar skills,, but billie joe is better at song writing ang stage performance,, you gotta see them live...
Do you realise that insulting me really only exposes you for what you are. I stated my opinion and you don't have to agree. To abuse me for it is ridiculous. I suggest you grow up and accept that not everybody will agree with your viewpoint in life. Move on.
Still bringing it after all these years with arguably the most consistently good show in Australian music

Yeah I've seen them so many times live there addictive. I love it. Went down Mornington way and saw them at a small pub there was great.
they make me so fucking proud to be australian.
I freak'n love the bass sound. sounds so raw.
The album version of this is one of my favorite aughts-era rock songs, but wow does that bass sound so much better live!
The double bass purring during the solo. Oh yeah
They dont need more advertising, they have been popular for a long time now. All around the world they are liked.
i love this song,,,
Actually man green day are with a major lable called reprise, tle are signed with Adeline in US/Canada, JVC in Japan and Dew Process In Australia and they are all Indie lables

Brilliant!!
Its a mix between punk and rockabilly they call it punkabilly
Scott's bass is mixed incredibly well and sounds nice.

Aussie Music is realy Unique, we should embrace it more - these guys are a 5* band.
Sounds great.
And all LIVE on ya guys
i love this video
I saw The Living End open for Green Day about 6 years ago.
Hi mate.
Thanks for accepting that.

the intro is the hardest part to play of this song, my pinky is hating me right now haha
Temazo!! Toda la onda!!
This man made me covet a Gretsch.
I was thinking of getting one, but might try a Les Paul first :).
i sure wish i could have chris' guitar
i need help...how do i add a video to my playlist???
I agree, I love greenday but love TLE more and I doubt GD could play a songs like Prisoner of society with just the original three.
a lot of times it's mainly people like dragonforce who's songs are ridiculously difficult that they suck live, a song doesn't have to be difficult to sound good though.
Yes TLE is even better Live / I seen them with MXPX what a concert ( Philly)
AUSSIES OWN! :D Although I come from Holland, The best punkrock and hiphop I know are from australia! W00000000 go aussies
@iamdamasta1
but not all of those work together, which is obviously needed in a song
hardly, they already had 2 albums out before they even did their first tour with green day, if anything green day just brought em to the U.S.
you gotta respect greenday, but in terms of talent, the living end is SOOOOOOO much better.
i mean seriously, you cant compare billy to chris, he doesnt even come close
listen to that bass, far out..
@LrD12792 you're right.
The living end out performs Green Day every time. I've seen both many times even once together. Billy Joe has nothing on Chris.
wow 18 tahun yang lalu

damn. oh well.
great band ! ...and the mathew perry thing is true jajaja
Green Day Is The Living End Played twice.There.....Settled
Actually they're on the same label, but Greenday are more mainstream music.
i mean who has heard of Punkabilly.
TLE Rocks full stop.

how the bass tone sounds like crap here, but its still a good song, didnt really notice the lyrics till now, what a good song for our times
dude its a double bass the strings are thicker then a normal electric bass and he cant turn it down
really good, but tv sound techs don't know anything about upright bass...
usa gets a taste of us =]
we aint so bad after all..
u have seen these guys live to know what there all about they kill greenday live
Actually, the bass cuts through the mix quite nicley.
finally some1 else knows the truth lol.
the guit/singer looks like mathew perry hehehe
This is so fucking sick.
oi! come back to australia! they nee much more publicity!!! SOOO UNDERATED!!! now alot of people read this!!!
