you keep using that word.... I do not think it means what you think it means.
    ad·mon·ish
    verb
    warn or reprimand someone firmly.
    Great video as always. Thanks!

It also means advise or urge (someone) earnestly. Like for instance...
"she admonished him to drink no more than one glass of wine".
So how he was saying people seems to always admonish people towards porcelain... it fit. 😉

I would love more clay reviews! I'm just about to get back into ceramics, and the last time I did any, I just used whatever was at the studio I went to. Since I'll be buying my own now, I'd love to know what different clays are like!

You might look into digging your own clay! Not only can it be a fun adventure and great exercise, it is basically free! I followed Andy Ward here on RUclips and found wild clay from a local creek.

Very cool ... I would enjoy seeing Clay reviews that explore Iron spotting. That Aardvark charcoal clay body is fascinating - wanted to hear about the throwing experience ... Exactly ... no skin was removed, more water, kinda groggy after trimming (I use a silicone rib to smooth that out or rough it up even more to catch glaze), and final firing color. Yes, YES ... more clay body reviews, please.

  • @deniseyoung5385

Cool! The only thing that makes me hesitant is the grog. And I am one of those that naturally gravitates to the white clay… not because I think it’s superior in any way, but because I like the way it brightens up my glazes and because I tend towards the blue/purple/aqua end of the spectrum, I just think those glazes look better on a white clay. As for the mess, call me crazy (I never deny this) I have separate everything from bats to tools, even wareboards for porcelain and dark clays. Honestly I would love to have a completely separate wheel. 😂 I only want to mix them when I am intentionally trying to do a swirled mixed clay look, otherwise they need to each stay in their own lane. 😆 But I don’t consider myself a porcelain snob. I appreciate the space for dark clay bodies and even the reds and beiges. Just for the work I want to create, that bright white speaks the language I’m trying to convey. I think all clays provide different types of canvas. One is no better than another, but it’s like favorite colors… if we all chose the same, it would be pretty boring.

At footage 15:08 what are the glazes you applied on the inside of the bowl? They are beautiful. Also, yesterday I noticed in the clay store, that Obsidian sample piece had fired much smoother than the Charcoal sample piece (probably because of the grog content) ... and I wondered if you tried sanding the Charcoal items? Also... yes, please do keep reviewing Clay. It is very helpful. : ) Take care🙏🏻

My obsidian came out much darker than yours did and they both came out about the same after the glaze. I still like the smoothness of the obsidian better. I have found burnishing the charcoal helps a lot and that lends itself nicely to water etching. The water etched areas are rough and the rest is smooth. That bloat issue though will drive me crazy!
