That 'flamethrower' thing will work with just about any mildly flammable powder.
Would probably work with flour.
of course flour will do., a lot of accidents in kitchen happened because of this
alternative title: how to make a flamethrower with dust
That last part is known as a dust explosion, since most dust particles are flammable only when airborne due to the fact that each particle needs to burn separately very quickly to create a large amount of pressure in the air to form combustion, powder or dust clomped together in a pile doesn't burn that efficiently.
Other powders or dust that are combustible while airborne are ones like sand, concrete and flour, though to form a dust explosion, the powder needs to be spread around a concealed environment, whether that be a bottle, a container or a room.
yes, this is really what you call deflagration
the same thing happened in one punch man OVA, where the dusts were all blown away into the living area and when zombieman used a lighter the dispersed dusts in the closed area started to react to the gas and heat from the lighter and formed chained combustions
Apparently, this stuff used to happen to windmills all the time. Someone would light a cigarette, or light a match, and the entire milk would simply explode because of all the fine flour particles in the air
I don't think sand has enough organic matter to combust in the air.
I think it's worth mentioning that this isn't just some random powdered oxide or whatever, but the actual spores of a clubmoss plant (Lycopodium sp.)
Yes and it's also used as pill backfill i think

What I'll never forget was the conveyance of disbelief when the teacher asked the class "What is lycopodium powder?" No one knew, myself included.
Now I knew the ancient names of lots of chemicals like 'lunar caustic' and 'aqua fortis', 'sugar of lead', wood alcohol, Condy's Red Fluid, etc. But to this day the *ONLY* known use of the infamous lycopodium powder is as a messy flammable dust.
lol
Nice demo of why flour mills and grain silos can be such dangerous places to work if they don't have adequate ventilation and dust filtration....it would have been good to mention that this yellow powder is actually the spores of a species of moss and not a chemical compound
