    Thank you for your analysis, you've hit on the gap I was hitting with my family account. I could see the lack of a semantic index was going to make experience short of the demo's, but not even offering a directed reference to one of my docs does leave a big tick in the chatgpt premium column, along with the more mature and rounded support for the chatgpt {Android app, voice communication} as opposed to a gob smacking void when trying to add copilot pro to my Windows 11 laptop as anything more than a we shortcut! Again, really appreciate your deep dive, you seem to have understood the whole scenario better than anyone else covering this ATM. Full credit to your analytical AND communication skills!

    Interesting views. Thank you.
    Just to confirm that whilst a Microsoft Family license gives you 6 separate accounts, you can not buy Copilot for the primary account, and cascade Copilot to your family members. Each individual in the family will need to subscribe to their own Copilot license. In Australia, that is quite prohibitive at $33 inc GST per month.

      @brightideasagency  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. A family subscription with 6x Copilot Pro would jump from $99 to over $1,500 per year. Can’t see many families opting for that any time soon.

    This was a very informative video! Thank you! One question I can't seem to find the answer to - what version of GPT does Copilot for Microsoft 365 use? Copilot Pro advertises access to the latest and greatest GPT4 Turbo, while the documentation for Copilot for Microsoft 365 is silent on this point? I've even read suggestion that it could be using GPT 3.5 and will be slow to use the latest versions due to business requiring "mission critical" dependability? Is any of that true, or does Copilot for Microsoft 365 use GPT4 Turbo as Copilot Pro does?

    • @brightideasagency
      @brightideasagency  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching. I’m not sure there is a definitive answer to this question and it’s entirely possible the different tools employ different approaches. However, I don’t think it matters so much as the context building machinery Microsoft has put between your request and the LLM. GPT-3.5 plus a highly tuned prompt and expansive relevant contextual information may well be better than GPT-4 with the first prompt that came to mind plus some randomly assembled context. With Copilot for Microsoft 365 that context building is the differentiator.

      @@brightideasagencyI've been a longtime Google user but Microsoft has been on top of the AI tooling, so I'm leaning more to Copilot 365. It's interesting to see this play out over time. Google is entrenched in US schools but Microsoft has many SMB and enterprise customers....

    If I buy the copilot for business ($30), but I only have a family subscription... Do I get the option to create a presentation in PowerPoint based in a file of my own?

    • @brightideasagency
      @brightideasagency  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching. No, this isn’t an option. To buy Copilot for Microsoft 365 you need a business tenant and at minimum a M365 Business Standard base license. Your source file would also need to be in OneDrive for Business rather than your OneDrive Personal.

    I’m sorry, after reading all the comments I still couldn’t actually get some of the differences. But it might be me cause everything is very clear. Excellent video by the way. But may be if I expose my particular case, you could enlighten me. I have an entreprise account for the institution I work for. But I also pay for the Family account, and I would like to have copilot that would actually allow me to reference my files (it’s like they do it on purpose you upgrade just for this). All are on one PC, is there a way I can get that feature of referrencing by getting copilot pro for my family account ? (With the linking method you explained)

      There is currently no way to directly access files (other than the one you have open in your app) with Copilot other than using a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license attached to a commercial account. With Copilot Pro you get Copilot in your M365 apps, but you cannot reference content from files in your OneDrive, and just having Copilot Pro "linked" to your business account does not give you that capability. Additionally, even if you have Copilot for Microsoft 365 on your business account that's linked to your personal account, your Copilot capabilities in apps do not get shared between them. The only benefit to such account linking is to get Copilot Pro benefits at copilot.microsoft.com when also protected by Commercial Data Protection using your business account.

    Thanks for this! "I saw the word fustion" and knew I needed the 365 one... but man is $360 up front an ask... not impossible... but an ask... How ever I do like the features of standard buisnuss account 365 for $12 not that bad and I think I can us the Co pilot pro on top by switching accounts... So I might as well stick to it... But yeah I wonder why normal buisnus office can be paid monthly but Co pilot 365 only yearly or tryi yearly? Edit: Nver mind I think? Still got personal just in case but I needed standard for other things like mesh.

    • @brightideasagency
      @brightideasagency  6 месяцев назад

      The default for most of the business licenses is an annual commitment whether paid up front or not. However for Copilot there are likely some costs to Microsoft to turn on the license (initial indexing etc) which at least to some degree drives the upfront payment requirement.

  • @tomstur119

    • @brightideasagency
      @brightideasagency  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching. As I've shown in the video it is possible for Copilot Pro to "layer" on top of the protected version of Copilot you get with any M365 Business or Enterprise plan. However, this just applies to the Copilot web service, it does not apply to Copilot in the Office apps. If you have Microsoft 365 Business Standard, also having Copilot Pro through a connected personal account provides you with no benefit in the Office apps. In this case you need Copilot for Microsoft 365.

      Thanks for watching and for providing your feedback. However, the information you've offered is not correct. Using ChatGPT or ChatGPT Plus, OpenAI offers a solution to opt out of them using your data for model training. Information on this is here: help.openai.com/en/articles/7730893-data-controls-faq. There is not an equivalent setting for Copilot without the "Commercial Data Protection" afforded by an Entra ID login. So, in this aspect an individual considering Copilot or a Copilot Pro subscription who is specifically concerned about their data being used for model training might be better off with ChatGPT or ChatGPT Plus.
