I wish the Premier League had a 2nd team of the season, similar to the NBA, where they have an All-NBA first and second team. Players like Solanke, Bowen, Gordan, etc need a shout.
Fr would be nice if they did, a lot of great seasons go underappreciated every season.
Foden too
that's a brilliant idea IMO.
@@statisticallysoundare you implying foden should be in the 2nd team? He’s definitely in the team of the season, he got the player of the season trophy lol
@@joshd8777 yeah I mean I wouldn’t have him in my team of the season, but he definitely is in the discussion for the second team, he finally has been able to make a starting role for himself after the KDB injury and make an impact this year
"we should put Foden on the wing because he's done most his good work in the middle"
*proceeds to put Cunha LW*
Right😂 make it make sense
Watkins doesn't take penalties!
That's what makes his stats even better Haaland scored 7 pens, Palmer 9 pens and Watkins still joint first for G/A. UTV
Solanke and Bowen are very unfortunate this year, and both have been amazing overall and most other seasons stand out
You should do a worst team of the season, but it’s just Sheffield United plus DCL
DCL can’t be in there because of the derby alone but I’m happy to put Beto in there
Surely gotta have Casemiro in there too
@@mattytorleymotherfucker turned into Drogba vs us hahahaha
Both these replies make good points. So we do Sheffield United + Casemiro and maybe Beto becomes a shit sub for a shit team lol
Put anyone from United above the age of 21
I think you were harsh on Robinson. Only one of the three options who was consistent all season. He is perhaps the best defensive left back in the prem and a strong progressive ball carrier. He certainly had the best season, regardless of Gvardiol's potential quality.
Yeah, I agree, but I would have just given it to udogie (very close) because look at spurs without him. Recently, they might of gotten a draw vs. Arsenal or/and Liverpool or Chelsea and gvardiol is recency bias, aka was ahead of him like last month
@@number1chesschampionsket683 The best ability is availability. Robinson has played 36 of 37. You don’t have to wonder what Fulham look like without him this season. I get your point w udogie though.
It’s just the old classic scenario of no-one watching Fulham’s games that intensely compared to Man City for example

How is Gabriel not in here? Arguably been better this season than Saliba. Liverpool collapsed.

To step in full time with Mings out for the year and hit the ground running how he has, hes been solid. Unbelievably composed in possession and is capable of dropping the ball over the top of the opposing defence, creates so many chances

He's been very good, but has only been heavily involved in the latter part of the season. Gordon has to be clear, he has been so impactful starting games for the majority of the season.
Ødegaard is so underrated, he’s the only player who does absolutely everything in a game, he runs the entire team every single game, players are normally world class at finishing at creating at crossing and so on but Ødegaard genuinely just does absolutely every job on the pitch to an amazing level
You’ve gotta give Leon Bailey a shout in there!
This isn't me being biased as a liverpool fan. But in terms of impact made and expectations exceeded, conor bradley filling TAAs shoes was an exceptional job nobody ever expected and was world class. Shame he won't get the same recognition because he deserves it. Also a funny part is andy Robertsons statistics are even better than ben whites in terms of %s. Like literally 34 game to 17 = 1/2. 8 goal contributions to 5. Works out for ben white a goal contribution just over once every 8 games, andy Robertson just less than 1 every 5 games. Plus ben white played 10 more games than TAA and he only managed to get 1 more goal and equal assists. Stop over hyping ben white
He is an arsenal fanboy still crying
Martinez great shout, elite and underrated
Very thorough and good you gave Salah serious consideration given his numbers are STILL up there despite him missing a big chunk of the season and then missing another chunk metaphorically, got a little annoying seeing all the teams on Twitter and no one even mention him in consideration. Palmer the right choice though. The only thing I'd do differently is have a back three - lose both full backs and put Gabriel in and make room for an extra attacking player which would probably be Haaland. MAYBE pickford for marti but not that fussed on that
Mac Allister shout for midfield??
Porro has been brilliant this yr. So crucial to our play
Gvardiol over Robinson is insane. Gvardiol was getting flop shouts for 90% of the season then chipped in a few goals. Robinson was class all season
Trossard LW stats pretty close to Gordon 👀
Earlier in the year Trippier and Maddison were on track to be in the team of the year but now they are not even in contention realistically. Things change.
Was only half listening and heard " no ones been on the ball more than martinez this season "
Though it was a stat😂
Martinez would love that tactic

Roméo Lavia is the best defender in the world
Should be using per90s, James, at least. Changes a fair bit.
James I know you’re a Championship fan but making Daniel Farke manager of the season is outrageous

Vicario has been impressive, but his lack of presence in his box has been one of Spurs' biggest liabilities for the last few months.
Shits himself with every set piece
@@ajs17897 fair enough, but his shots stopping is some of the best in the premier league
Been solid but as with a lot of the spurs players peoples minds were already made up about them after 10 games, he’s shown some weaknesses since then
@@benlane7282 i do have a bit of bias because i watched tottenham more during the first half of the season then the second half. fair point.
No KDB? Even missing half the season he might get the most assists this season. That’s insane
Yeah but the main point of tots is players that have been consistent throughout, or at the very least been mostly available throughout. No one is doubting the quality of kdb
Idk if I can vote Martinez after that howler vs Liverpool
Gvardiol in TOTS is nasty business
I wished you’d done a deeper dive into Saka’s underlying numbers, his impact has been severely understated this season. xA or gamestate changing G/As shows that looking at G/A only doesn’t do him justice. Also check out his defensive numbers, they’re insane, his defensive responsibility this season is completely overlooked when discussing output compared to others.
Vicario not being nominated is insane
Martinez, Torres, Konsa, Luiz, Bailey, Watkins
+ White, Gvardiol, Rodri, Rice, Odegaard

This a stats team, I mean stats are good but maybe watch the Premier League more and look at the stat sheet less. Just my opinion still love the vid and the channel. Only forwards
I would switch VVD with Gabriel but agree with the rest
Is Antonee Robinson the best player on the American team?
The disrespect to Gabriel Magalhaes is crazy.
Its VVD

I largely ageee but LBs havent been great enough this year. So id go with a back three, put Odegaard in the 8 and foden in the 10. Then swap Gvardiol for Gordon n put him LW
Man said city would finish 3rd
He's an arsenal fanboy still crying over the loss..leave him be
This need for people to shoehorn a player into a position they don't play really irks me man. Gordon has been by far the best Left Winger this season and nobody is close but let's throw Foden there because we don't have the bottle to make a tough decision on the right wing. Let's just put Gabriel at Left back as he has been better than any left back this season if that's the case. It's just ugh.
It's a made-up team with made-up criteria that ultimately doesn't have a precise, useful purpose. Maybe chill.
@gionnifer what's the point having it if it doesn't serve a purpose? It's meant for giving players that deserve it their flowers.

So no one will talk about Olise? Odd. 18 Apps 15 G/A this Season.
Can't a a TOTS seriously without Saka in it.
Puts in a Right back shift & still keeps pace with his rivals who are given a free role.
Just check his defensive numbers, and to STILL get that attacking output- has to be in there. Every game; the first shot, the first cross- that first chance; He's the one who gets the team going.
Arteta needs to give him less defensive responsibility so he can show why he's a tier above those he's compared to.
One thing you got wrong James, watkins has not taken penalties this season which makes his goals tally even more impressive
Watkins not even on penalties!
I think ødegaard shouldn't be in this gear but wouldn't be surprised if it was his year next year 😊
I feel like Macca has gone very underrated this season. Joined LFC, has to be part of a brand new midfield. Played out of position as a 6 for the start and during some games and has done pretty good (advance metrics puts him in good company). When moved to his preferred 8 he has done even better. Scored 2 ridiculously good goals this season. His goals and assist numbers might not be up there with others but you can’t judge an 8 solely on goals and assists. That’s like saying Kroos isn’t a world class midfielder bc he never scores goals and gets tons of assists. (Ignoring the fact he does everything at a high level which is way more important than basic stats).
Front 4 should’ve been:
Foden - Watkins - Saka/Salah
With Palmer at the 10, since hes closed out the season in that position
Palmer is a cam not a rw id say
No way Odegaard doesn't get in; and no way is Gvardiol the best LB this season. Both Udogie and Robinson are clear of the dude. Did slightly redeem himself with the Watkins pick though.
To me van Dijk was only good later on in the season he definitely wasn't up to his normal standard this season and not just for Liverpool but for Netherlands who I have been supporting since 1988.
Every time someone puts Van Dijk in over Gabriel, VDV, Branthwait or Tarkowski I just have to laugh, especially after the Merseyside derby and how DCL dominated him
Trossard and odegaard not even being discussed is criminal
True Trossard and Odegaard deserves to best eleven places.
Vicario was everyone's pick during the winter break, but no one has even mentioned him in any TOTS picks. Has he been that bad?
Na his weaknesses just got exposed more second half of the season mainly how bad he is at claiming crosses into the box especially from corners. Kind of the same thing that happened to doku, they come in and look great but once teams have a bit of film to watch on them they get figured out a bit.
@@RafaelRodriguez-mx7fdit’s not his fault the league allows attackers to foul keepers. The rule will be changed this summer
@@OPRAHRULZ come on man can’t just blame it all on the rules every player has stuff they struggle at and that’s definitely something he struggles with. Every team in the league targeted his weakness in dealing with corners the second half of the season, sending inswingers most other keepers would claim
@@RafaelRodriguez-mx7fd they targeted it because it is a dubious rule that needs to be amended
Maybe it’s just my agenda but much as I love Jim I do feel a lot of City players were a bit overlooked given we will likely win the league and all, not even a mention for Walker as a candidate for RB cause we just take him for granted by now, likewise with Dias and imo Akanji at the back not necessarily saying they should be right in there but at least considered, plus I think there’s possibly been a bit of overlooking the fact that VVD hasn’t exactly come in clutch in the last month and a half or so when Liverpool should’ve been keeping pace with City and Arsenal as brilliant as he is overall
Nah, we've been ass defensively. None of those guys deserve to be in the TOTS. Shout out to Akanji tho, he's the only one that has been constantly good this season

Gusto has been class all season, not just at the end. Not saying that he has to be picked here but that reasoning is miles off
No Gusto at right back? I expected better Mr JLA
I could give two sh*** if people call me biased but leaving out Gabriel and Ødegaard is ridiculous. One has been part of the best defence in Europe and the other is the best attacking midfielder this season.
You're biased
Don't think Gvardiol has been better across the whole season than Udogie, also while I think Cole's been amazing I do still think Saka is a better two way player and is just about ahead even if he is a bit knackered now. Not saying Cole's lazy but I don't think he's as good defensively and Saka is a useful piece in a stunning defensive side while also providing elite attacking quality. Also it's fudging it a bit but I do think Odegaard deserves to be in team so I'd put Foden at LW.
So Gomes just doesn't get a shout. Mandem played everywhere across the backline except GK and performed well Rb CB LB CDM and magnificently at times
As a Chelsea fan Gabriel has been far better for me then saliba, he picks up all the pieces

Unpopular opinion my rb would be trent alexander arnold
Your first mistake was assuming that you had to put in Van Dijk. Gabriel is higher that Saliba this year. Your choice, but disagree. Arsenal has the best defense. Also, Odegaard is invaluable. Best attacking mid in PL.

Seriously, he’s been good all season. It’s just that in the last 10 games he’s taken it up another level to being outstanding.
It’s the same as the Foden debates. People have said this is his ‘Breakout Year’ when actually he was one of City’s best players in 20/21 as well.
Most don’t actually watch City play week in, week out, they just regurgitate pundit notes (which are mostly wrong for every club).
