    5:38 WHATT??
SPAIN WON 1964 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP... with the ballon D'or Luis Suarez Miramontes(Spanish legend) and the best player of the great inter milan of herrera, the key olayer for their first 2 champions league in a row...
Spain is the team with most eurocups with 3, exact same like germany (3).
Spain not only won the tournament before 2008, but they did it before germany, france, netherland, italy etc... in the second ever eurocup played in history.
They won eurocups, olimpics... in past century, the only thing they have a bad luck trying were world cups.
They even almost won another eurocup in 1984. But they lost the final against platini's france.

Denmark's tactics did not create the backpass rule. It's a nice story but it is a myth, the law change was proposed and agreed before the tournament started. Also, "Denmark abused the lack of a backpass rule" is also a myth. They wasted time at the end of a game they'd already won. Every team today do this - just in a different way.

    • @rdg9768

The funny thing, is that spain won the Euro before other big nations like german, netherland, italy, france etc... in 1964.
They almost won it a second time in last century, in 1984 against platini's France. But they lost the final.
And they win the olimpics in the 90's.
They really had great players and legends in the past, like Zamora, Luis Suarez Miramontes (only spanish ballon D'or and the best player of the great inter milan who wins their first 2 champions league in a row. With him as the best player and he won the 1964 Euro for spain) Butragueño, Hierro, Iribar, Paco Gento, Raúl, Valeron (what a magician, was called the spanish Zidane), Diego Tristan, Guti etc...
But they had 0 luck in world cups. They were robbed 2 times too.
In 1934 italy robbed them in the world cup. And in 2002 in the korea world cup... that one was horrific. One of the most corrupt matches ever that take away the semifinals for the spaniards.
And now, they won the other new uefa tournament (Nations League).
There are only 3 nation leagues finals in history, and they were in 2 of them, and won 1. But they were robbed against france in the other final with that offside goal of mbappe.
1 world cup, 3 Euros (the country with most, draw with germany) olimpic winners, 1 Nation leagues. And some finals lost, like in 1984 or the nations league against france...
So they are FAR better than England, but some english people still acting they are better than countries like spain and others, for some weird reason.

    • @sirmaster55
      @sirmaster55 5 месяцев назад +3

@@rdg9768 absolutely, thanks for that. The video is made by an Englishman and I respect that he put more of a focus and mention the squad's memorable moments over the years, but he cannot state that this is a summary of the competition when England have been almost always irrelevant, and he mentions them in every edition. And again, the way he portrays some countries like Spain here or super briefly mentions that "Hungary had possibly one of the best teams in history" while only mentioning Puskas is weird as well.
By the way, going back to what you said about Spain being robbed. Don't forget about 1994 when they played vs Italy (Spain played better but gave away 2 stupid goals), and in extra time Luis Enrique was literally assaulted in the area and NOTHING was given. It could have been the 2-2 with a penalty and who knows. This was also the game that decided going through to the semifinals of the WC...

Platini carried the nation of France to footballing glory and is one of the architects responsible for this modern French team, which has an incredible ability to churn out talent. It is a shame that a legend and generational footballer like Platini's reputation was tarnished because of politics.

    2. Brazil 1958-62: Pele, Garrincha, Didi, Vava, Zagallo, Zito, N. Santos, D. Santos, Gilmar.
And you could even make an argument for: Austria 1930s (Sindelar, Bican), Hungary 1950s (Puskas, Kocsis), West Germany 1954 (Fritz Walter) and 66-74 (Beckenbauer, Muller), Uruguay 1924-30 (Andrade, Nasazzi), Netherlands 1970s (Cruyff, Neeskens, Rensenbrink) and 1988 (van Basten, Gullit), Italy 1982 (Rossi, Zoff, Conti) and 1934-38 (Meazza, Ferrari, Monti, Piola) and England 1966 (B. Charlton, Moore, Banks) and even 1948 (Matthews, Finney, Lawton)
I'd rank Spain in the top but i wouldn't rank them above the 2 main mentioned and maybe a few of the others (most listed are older teams as we all know the great sides of the 90s to today)

Spain is the best. I say that and I'm not even a fan of Spain, in fact I hated their dominance from 2008-2012. But that side won 3 successive major tournaments. They revolutionized football. And they did it while playing great stuff. Their midfield was the greatest midfield in the history of international football....It was basically Barca's midfield + Xabi Alonso and Fabregas (who was ironically at Barca for a period of time but not 2008 Euros). That midfield dominated the sport both internationally and at club level, They're the only side to win 3 successive major tournaments of World Cup or Euros variety. They would play that Brazil team off the pitch as football wasn't very advanced during the 50s, 60s or 70s. For this reason I would actually rate Brazil's 90s and early 2000s team as better than the Pele ones. They made 3 straight World Cup finals, won some Copa Americas...And did it in a much harder era. I think the France side from 1998-2000 also deserves a shout...As does this current French side if they make another final or win it this time around.

Short and informative content to tell a quick history of the previous competitions. Was a good length for me 👍🏼

The script and speedrunning the events and info might make it feel rushed, but a 15 minute video on the History of the EUROs seems like a nicely packaged video.

You jump from 1955 into 1988 in one half sentence and call this the entire history?!
No wonder you teach your viewers that Spain won their first title in 2008...
    Do better, mate.

True, not even a mention of the first ever Panenka being the decisive penalty in the EURO 1976 final. He did the first 40 years in basically 2 minutes.

Hard to compare but defences back then weren't anywhere near as organised or well disciplined as modern defences
