Still can’t believe Fala is now in the MCU. Still remember when I first watched her debut in Hong Kong dramas.

I remember watching Fala in the Hong Kong TVB dramas almost a decade ago. Now she's making her debut in Hollywood in a Marvel movie!! So proud of the journey she's overcome to get where she is today!
Fala Chen is not only stunningly beautiful, she's also a great actress who is fluent in Cantonese & English. I hope the success of Shang Chi will help open more opportunities for her in Hollywood, because she deserves to become a huge star.
I wish she would do her interviews in Cantonese like Tony does. That Cantonese pride from Tony makes me want to watch the movie more than the actual movie itself.
@@DanteLovesPizza I don't believe it has to do with Cantonese pride, rather it's which language they are comfortable expressing themselves in. Anyway these 2 interviewers likely don't understand Cantonese, it only make sense she spoke English.

Yeah, but he's done interviews in English too, so he's comfortable enough with it. It's the fact that in some he has chosen to respond in Cantonese. Now, when you're promoting a movie in English, and you can speak English quite well, you wouldn't necessarily choose to do it in Cantonese given the much smaller audience that understands it. He made this choice despite that.
It's not a criticism that she's not doing it, it's just I wish she would do some like Tony.
Her English is amazing considering that she moved to US to study at the age of 14, and for a Szechuan native to start learning Cantonese after moving to HK, she really has a knack for relearning and remaking herself.
Tbh, East Asian cinema has gotten to a point where they've eclipsed Hollywood. She'd have a better time & get more roles working in that industry.
I'm so used to watch her speaking Cantonese in HK drama, first time seeing her talk in English, the feeling is amazing!
Fala was immigrated to the United States at age of 14 yr old , Cantonese wasn't her first native dialect , she won the Miss New York Chinese pageants in 2004 and then went to be the Finalist in Miss Chinese International 2005 in HK , she won 1st runner up that yr and thebn singed acting contract with TVB in Hong Kong , she is actually returning back to America

Fala is my absolutely favorite Hongkong actress. I grow up watching her shows. She is still beautiful after all that years. Hope we can see more of her in the MCU movies

Fala Chen is a beautiful addition to the MCU, pun intended. Hope she gets more Hollywood projects like Nora. Maybe a role in China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians 2) as there are 3 from that movie in Shang-Chi (Yeoh, Lum, and Chieng).

It's kind of surreal to see a former TVB actress in the MCU. Good for her, I suppose. She left TVB just at the right time. Will always love her role as Madam Jo in Lives of Omission.

@@UNSTABLE111 Oh you're right! Totally missed out Michelle Yeoh in the Guardians. But her role is more like a cameo. And Fala Chan's role in Shang Chi is quite significant. Nonetheless, really hope Marvel recognized Fala's performance in Shang Chi and give her another opportunity for other Marvel project.
And also with Michelle Yeoh since she was in Guardians 2.

Better than Hollywood cutting out asian actors. Ghost in the shell and Dr Strange was a huge no no.
Especially since this movie will be banned in China and they won’t be making money from the Chinese audience. We gotta compensate somehow, especially with how The Suicide Squad did. That movie is great and did well through streaming services but was labeled a box office bomb because not enough ppl could come to theaters.
I hope this movie succeeds (and I hope TSQ gets more love)!

I first knew her through Forensic Heroes 1, then Can't buy me love. I had always been impressed by her beauty and wondered that how come she had not got the leading role (I mean after that TVB did let her play a few leading roles but the dramas were not that good) It's good that she left TVB and blossoms in Hollywood!
I remember when i was a kid i used to watch lots of TVB series that she was in now I’m 21 but she look exactly the same even younger than me . I mean how how how. I’m Asian too but how 🤣
It's great to see Fala making it to the big screen. I was made aware of her 10 years ago when hanging out in an "Escape Room" game in Shanghai with a group of ABCs. I grew up in the UK and never watched those Hong Kong TVB shows so when an ABC guy came up to me and said: "Wow, you look so much like Fala Chen you two can be twins!", my reaction was "huh, Fala Who?!" He said he was out with her and a group of people back in the States but she was very arrogant at the time. I joked: "Well, lucky you, you found the nicer Twin in me!". Thanks to Fala's fame, I get stopped a few times in the streets while in Hong Kong, probably by Fala's fans who wanted my number. Fast forward a few years I can really see her hard work in bettering her acting skills and surely hope she's more down to earth now as arrogance doesn't fit her. I wish her best of luck and continue to make us proud!

A lot of people think if you're from Hong Kong and don't stick with TVB forever, you're done. In the past, it was good, but today, it's just a platform for Dog Xi to spread his propaganda. The majority of the actors working under TVB today are so bad I wouldn't cast them more than an extra, but here they are, playing main roles. And funnily enough, these people can't even find success in Hong Kong, let alone internationally.
Leaving is the wise choice and Fala has proved it here.

I've seen previous clips of her speaking english and I think she must've worked really hard with her accent coach because its definitely hard to change your normal speaking accent outside of the script without it sounding forced

@@nostaku she had short clips from during her time studying in new york and shed have interactions with her friends and you could hear a little bit of her accent (good grammar) but in this clip its clearly shown the passage of time and hard work pays off
