You can even do this as Chiang Kai-Shek, it's a bit harder because to get into Japan's faction you need to have non-aggression with them & a wargoal on Shanxi. They will declare on them (but not you) after Marco Polo and then you can use your own wargoal and join Japan's faction as a cobelligerent.

I recently tried playing Soviets using only guns. The only things you’re allowed to produce are guns, trucks, and trains. The latter two for supply only. I played on elite difficulty with a max buffed Germany, and gotta say, it was incredibly fun to try and stop the German advance. There was a moment of panic when Hungary justified on my Romanian puppet in 39 and dragged the entire axis into the war before I even started fixing my army.
Seeing Isorrow drop paratroopers onto the Japanese frontline, reminded of this game In had. I was doing a world conquest as America, and the only states unoccupied were in Europe. I really didn’t want to have to fight for every inch of land, so instead I just mass dropped my 30 paratroopers divisions everywhere I could. First they landed in Israel, then they landed on Spain-France border, Northern Italy, Norway, Denmark. Since it was late game, I had the transport planes to land them all at the same time. Only lost 1 division. Using paratroopers in mass numbers is the greatest feeling ever.
I havent played the game in a while but its so weird that the paratrooper deorg thing actually made it into the game. And italy still has their weird civil war if they lose a single province it seems.
Switching ideology and keeping your leader is actually pretty Chinese war lord lore accurate. Those guys would switch allegiances pretty quickly given the proper incentives.
Communist China is arguably more fun actually. You just conquer the Northern Warlords like usual, wait a few after Japan declares war on to declare war on China, and you'll get all the land with 10% war participation (don't worry the community thinks it's fair and balanced >.>). The only complicated thing is making sure you touch the southern warlords to get them into the peace deal. Last time I did it I had 100 civies by the time Japan declared war on me I think sometime in 1940 but I can't quite remember.
You should have taken the peace with Japan, then just immediately rejoined the war as you were part of the Allies. That way, you don’t have to worry about taking that land in the peace deal.
