  • A new Zillow study put Utah in the top 15 states with the most "million-dollar cities." But other places in Utah aren't incredibly less expensive, economists say.

    Investors and companies are buying everything in utah. The regular first time home owner can’t compete with investors and companies, and the government of utah is allowing this. Vote accordingly.

      @@Tom-hz9oc because companies are “people” it would have to be a law that restricts people from owning more than 1, maybe 2 homes, 3 would be REALLY stretching it.

    No way for younger families to even afford a condo here. This state used to be family friendly, now it is becoming terrible because all the land developers here are building no starter homes. A builder down from us was advertising affordable houses that are $450,000 for 1200 square feet.

      If that's the case, then how is it families are affording to live here? Oh, wait. Families.making low wages can not afford to live here. Families on welfare while working full time and qualify for WIC and assistance can not affor to live here. They're being pushed out by people making more who don't need aid. That's what you really mean because tons of families are moving here who can afford it.

      $450k has never been a starter home! And 1200 sf is a Habitat For Humanity sized home.

    What if you’re a family of 7 trying to relocate to Utah. A condo just isn’t going to cut it! I really think some of the brokers themselves have their heads in the clouds!

    The state needs to step in and require that all new single family home purchase should be primary residence. That would instantly flood the market and bring prices down.

    Somehow, there is money coming in to encourage this. I can't afford any of it. Is it good for the counties to allow this type of building for the impacts they have on the communities?

      @kevincraig8257 I just wonder if the people in the community can afford the increased tax burden. I'm sure everyone involved likes the numbers going up, I'm just not sure everyone effected can afford it and the overall impact this has.

      @FlapSmear78 I must have missed something I thought these were existing housing just over inflated 50 to 75% equity in most states Texas is holding its own everything is inflated it comes down to energy costs lower them and things will come down to a more realistic state Trump he did it once he'll do it again

      Our taxes increase has caused our house payment to go from 1400 a month to over 1700. You would think a larger tax base would make taxes lower😭

    Thats ridiculous how they have these houses so expensive, no one will be able to afford them, those houses isn't worth it, these investors are greedy as h*!!, then they be asking to buy my house for $300,000, where can you move to find a house cost that little

    ALL OF THAT INFLATION BEING PRINTED FOR UKRAINE.
    Inflation is all of these printed and digitally created dollars that aren’t backed by gold.
    We never left the standard, the standard changed….
    It used to be 1.15 usd per gram of gold,
    today it’s over 70.00 per gram of gold.

      It’s happening at home with money for homeless programs etc..
      The over printing started when THEY SAID we went off of the gold standard.
      In fact, we never got off of the standard, instead, the standard only changed.
      Each and every dollar printed that went above the one for one standard was pure inflation.

    Those vacation destination locations are being bought by the real real rich and corporations to make a flip. Now FHO should seriously consider a new construction with acrage at a distant location 1-2hours away. Or change state... theres houses else where but not these 550 cites that have million dollar average homes. Location is drafing cost of the actual property at what makes these house "worth" that million

    Utah is unaffordable and has been for 30 plus years but Utah Legislature does nothing to address it except tax the poor more. The state, feds and church own 90 plus percent of all land holdings in the state which further elevates the price. The exploitation of women and free labor make it easier for many to buy these homes at these prices. Utah housing with crash and it will be the greed of the selfish patriarchy that lead us to this place. Governor Cox does nothing for the poor. Any winder??? What does she do? Nothing! She goes on expensive trips and brags about it on social media. But the poor and cost of living? Neglected. Just like the Mormon Jesus taught them.
