    Hi great video is it the same process to refill the 570 and 571 canon ink and what is the redsetter and does it necessary if the printer still shows the warning ?
    Any advice

      The 570 and 571 are almost identical so the same process will work. The REdSETTER handles the ink level warnings but if you're happy to monitor the ink levels manually you don't need to reset the chips.

    Hello, where you get the cap you take and use to cover the filling hole at 02:32? I have CLI551and PGI550, I am about to order some set for refilling but I don§t know if the caps are included

      We have those and a variety of other plugs here:
      www.octoink.co.uk/categories/Inkjet-Refilling/Tools%2C-Spares%2C-Parts/Plugs-%7B47%7D-Seals/
      "Canon Plug(s)" in singles or packs or 10 and 25.
      The type shown at that point in the video are called "tabbed". Just for clarity, those are different from the "long-tabbed".

    According to the printerknowledge forum, 551 OEM carts also suffer from the dreaded yellow jello problem. Do you have any details on this and what steps we should take to mitigate it?

      In this instance we've not had time to keep up on the forums so I wasn't aware this was an issue all over again, although it shouldn't come as a surprise. On one side that could be perceived as alarming but on reflection we've been selling the inks now for over a year, without issue. It's also worth pointing out that we haven't experienced the Jello problemwith the CLI-42 inks we supply and the manufacturer is the same for our 42, 551 and 571 inks...
      Mitigation options are going to be interesting as there's obviously no way to replace the cartridge with an OEM alternative, the way you can with the CLI-8 in place of the CLI-42...
      Off the top of my head I can think of two options at present:
      1. Use a refillable cartridge with ARC in place of the OEM CLI-551Y
      2. Use this technique ( www.octoink.co.uk/kb/questions/191/ ) to "flush" or rather recondition the cartridge
      Beyond more research is going to be required... Follow-ups to follow as/when...

      Thanks for your detailed reply! By the way, have you ever tested Redsetter on the ARC chips of refillables? Refillables might be a useful substitute if they can be reset when topped up.

      We've done a bit of testing on this but space has meant we haven't had a chance to pursue it properly. What we've found so far is that the REdSETTER seems to reset the ARC but the printer still refuses to accept it.
      We need to look at it a bit better to see if the issue is a memory thing within the printer or just incompatibility. We also need to take a look at the one time chip options to see if they will work or not. So still lots of unknowns...
      Still... makes the job a whole lot more interesting :)

    Did I miss something? What is a redsetter?

      The REdSETTER is a brand name for a type of chip resetter.

    Hi what does it mean if I fill it and the printer says it can’t detect the remaining level of ink left in the cartridge?

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  3 месяца назад +1

      The cartridge likely has a chip and a prism. When you refill the cartridge but the chip says it’s low or empty you get that error. You can usually resolve it by using a chip resetter to reset the chip.

      @@octoinkjetwow thank you so much for replying so quickly! I was able to bypass the error by disabling the ink level detection, but I’d definitely like to reset the chip and get the level detector back online if possible.
      Hope this isn’t asking too much, but do you have any chip resetter recommendations for a canon pixma MX922? Canon CLI-251 and PGI-250 cartridges? Thanks for any help!!

      Glad that helped. We actually have those resetters available too...

      The REdSETTER units are in my (biased) opinion a better unit overall but you can get them cheaper if you dig around.

    It's the same method one can refill Canon PGI-450 and CLI-451 cartridges?

    • @octoinkjet
      @octoinkjet  3 года назад

      Yes... the 450 is the same as the 550, 250, etc... likewise the 451 is the same as the 551, 251, etc...
