An old friend of mine bumped into Lemmy on the tube back in 1987 on the way up to Acid Daze at Finsbury Park, thought "He looks like Lemmy, but he's not all that tall". said hello and it was the man himself, happy to be recognised and to engage in conversation, even with a tongue tied young fan. She and he were around the same height but he was very much larger than life and an absolute gent. They don't make rockers like him any more.
Lemmy was a really nice guy. He used to let me play the fruit machine with him when he came to Camden Town to meet his mate Dave Preston who was my landlord and then watch Bullseye on TV it was a Sunday . This may be too much daft information 😢
@@ScottishTeeVeeExactly!.The band also used to drink in what was known as the ‘Golden Cross’ in Portobello Road.I never saw them in there but heard that Phil Taylor and Fast Eddie had at least one fist fight in the street outside, while Lemmy was,you guessed it,playing a fruit machine inside. This would have been 79/80 .🇬🇧🏴❤️

Seen them in Dundee, Caird Hall, 1980 too, amazing. They played Dundee a few times, first was in the Student's Union, The Bowling Alley as it was known, not nearly as loud nor fast!
That's likely the best thing I'll see in the world today. Those three men are the foundation on which a thousand songs are built. Thank you for saving this! 🤘👏
a radio station where I grew up did a daily "disco destruction" lots of simulated record scratching and bombs going off then break into a Motorhead tune it was excellent !
Motörhead blasted through the genres and trends and survived intact until the end. I got to see the end when he couldn’t finish four songs here in the ATX but then saw them finish a show in Orlando right before Lemmy died.
That's from Scene 79 a German youth tv show with the now world wide famous show host Thomas Gottschalk. I got posters and a great backstage Foto from this show in my collection. I saw them live at their first Berlin show in 78 at the Kant Kino. Lemmy rules
Know exactly what you mean mate . My first time was 1976 at Mr Digby’s in Birkenhead . My last Stafford Bingley Hall in 1980 , but even then I had began to lose interest . The first three albums are the must haves .
My Motörhead gig was great but no way was it as loud as Saxon at the Boat Club, Nottingham .. you just couldn't hear the high end at that gig .. and my bootlegs of Deep Purple had cymbals feeding back, so I believed the Guiness Book of Records. When I saw Motöterhead the volume wasn't nearly as oppressive, but laws were tightened.
One of best mates was in LEEDS ,early 80s.. Lemmy was looking for a good camera shop... my mate ,Kev gave him directions... circa 1981/82 when MOTORHEAD played at the long gone QUEENS HALL
The first time I ever heard Motorhead was in 1981 when I saw them live on their Ace of Spades tour. They opened for Ozzy Osbourne at the Rainbow Music Hall, Denver CO. I simply didn't know what hit me, and although Ozzy was great (his voice sucked pretty bad, but Randy Rhoads and the band were incredible!), I couldn't shake the absolute pummeling Motorhead delivered that night! The buzz and ringing in my ears lasted for days! What an experience I'll never forget and I'm forever grateful I was able to see the original lineup in their prime. Cheers!
Audience was totally stunned, no movement whatsoever, omg! They had no clue at all of what was happening back then, witnessing legends live on stage...
Really...quite possiblely the greatest Rock and Roll/ Metal Band ever. Never let flash ( technique wise), fashion or fame sway their intent. This is as simultaneously brain busting, pure and ass kickin' as the first time I heard them. A band's band!!!

Well... now when mentioned, Eddie Clark´s mic is turned off? They said Manowar was the loudest band once and even in the Guiness book of world records but with a good amp any band can blow out the walls on where you´re playing, it´s just a matter of POWER. Motörhead was dirty enough to beat them all, dirty in a good way.

In 1981 Motorhead appeared twice on Musikladen (formerly Beat Club) one time also with Girlschool and Lemmy solo in '84 with Kirsty MacColl, by '81 that show had morphed into a pop/disco type hit show with the odd hard rock act, when they did "Motorhead" (playback) they wrecked the stage and Lemmy gave the audience the finger, this particular episode was set in an unusual place an old theater, where normally it'd be in the Radio Bremen studios.

Greatest power trio ever. Clarke, Taylor, Kilmister, perfection

The Mighty Motorhead playing great heavier Rock&Roll to a dead audience. To this Legends ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

The first concert I went to was Motorhead 1990 Auckland town hall. Sadly not the classic lineup , Philthy , Fast Eddie and Lemmy. But was a great gig
Still a great first concert 🎸😎

I have been on the concert when I was 15 years old in HAMBURG MARKTHALLE 👍
I was lucky enough to have seen Motorhead in 1981, and again 10-years later in 1991.
Philthy Taylor is a god damn beast on the drums. Motörhead was the best.
Brings back memories when was younger out of control not now though... Great band ever

I love how the mic is set a bit above him and he is just belting up at it all the time. It just gives him such sense of swagger.
he did that because of stage fright, he didn't want to look at the audience
@@chrismemphis8062 Still works
It kinda was because of stage fright..... due to trying to look at large groups of people while on acid.
My father used to play Motorhead to put me to sleep when I was a baby. For some reason I have never had insomnia.
To be fair, if it didn't make me headbang, I could comfortably fall asleep to it and have it loop so I wake up every morning feeling badass 😅
My middle daughter would calm down to Metallica on car rides when she was about 2.

Motorhead playing two of their greatest songs to a crowd of utterly stoic Germans. Well, I guess 1979 was a bit too early for us.
