I left Philippines when I was 8. I went back for the first time 40 years later. Philippines took me back and made me feel like I never left. They loved me the same as when I was 8 years old.

I want to share this with you. I was born in the Phils. by my european parents. I grew up here and left the country when I was in high school. Since I am a travel freak, I continued my journey until I was 55. When I was in my 30's I moved to Seoul and had my business in the city center. The first few months was a thrill for me not really minding what's going around. My first one year was a "ok I don't care" attitude but after 3 years I felt so lonely. Friends that I made was all elders who spoke good english that also advice me about Korea. I was always invited by them but missing something that I couldn't find in Korea made me so alone and lonely that led into a severe depression. W/ no friends that I can go along to travel around, w/ the aloofness of koreans w/ foreigners that you can't interact w/ becoz they were scared, the rudeness of many when they are in my store, it's a tantamount of humiliation, I felt degraded. Literally most koreans in Korea aren't that friendly. When you smiled at them they'd seemed to be like "the heck! who are you"? reaction, places that foreigners are not allowed. There are many weird and unpleasant things that Korea never showed. When I can't stand it anymore, I moved out and settled in Bangkok together w/ my business on my 4th year. You see, you're still young, lots of opportunities to encounter besides that you are a korean national. Nothing to be afraid of. Think like this is temporary, you can come back anytime you wanted. You can still do things that you are doing in the Phils. when you're already in Korea. It may not all but surely you will meet koreans who lived in the Phils. and returned back to Korea. Madami sila altho mahihirapan kang mag adjust coz Korea is a country where everything is on fast phase and non working ppl will definitely died of starvation and coldness and yet I know you can make it. When I started in Seoul, as a foreigner it wasn't easy but I managed to fixed the odds how much more you that you have your brother with you once you moved back to SoKor. Be always positive, pray for courage and strength. You always have a choices in life. Goodluck
I can definitely attest to this. Not all Koreans are friendly as people are saying. Maybe yes, in their experience with travel, but living with Koreans and in Korea is a different topic. and yes, with much attraction they have, lies also the loneliness of people. It's good that you made the choice of leaving cos you're health is more important than any other concerns.
To all immigrants: Just adapt the good attitudes from both countries. No country is perfect but if your personality fits to one, then you'll know where to settle. Godbless.

Every Korean RUclipsr I know who lives in the Philippines for so many years and decided to go back to their country (example: Jessica Lee and Dasuri Choi) when the airplane just landed in Korean airport, they had these kind of feelings (nervous, fear and feeling like they were foreigners in their own country) because they don’t know or it’s new to them living in their own country. They learned how to embrace, love and appreciate our culture.

I just stumbled in your blog and felt your emotions. As a Filipino lawyer who used to live and work in Australia and Singapore, I tried to find meaning through those times by trying to help out our kababayans who are being taken advantage of because language barriers and the change of culture. As a Korean who is very familiar with the culture and mindset of Filipinos, I hope you find meaning in Korea by also helping out in some way our kababayans there who are being taken advantage of knowing that they there because they had to earn money to send to their families here. Good luck and I am very confident that you will do well Korea having been raised with good Filipino principles.

Leaving out of your comfort zone is probably one of the most difficult decision to make and situation to face
You will be fine. At some point in our lives, we all have to find our roots. This departure from Ph is, despite of you saying "For Good", is really just temporary. You will be back. Going to Korea is just something you have to do as a Korean. This doesn't mean you have to stay if you don't want to. Either way, best of luck to you. Just remember that if things don't go as planned in Korea, that you have another home in Ph.
I am sure she will come back and retired in the Philippines like me. I live in the US for 17 yrs but I will retire in the Philippines.

My children experience the same. They were born and raised sa Pinas. We left the Philippines in June of last year, and every now and then, they'd be asking when are we going back to the Philippines. Earlier, my son was crying, telling me he wanted to go back to the Philippines. I feel so homesick just typing "Philippines" make me cry. Kung di lang talaga kailangan di ko iiwan ang Pilipinas.

It will be hard, but you will be fine. I moved to the US when I was in my teens, and it took a while for me to adjust. It will be a difficult journey, but before you know it, this foreign place will feel like home. I've spent half of my life in the Philippines and half in the US, and now the Philippines doesn't really feel like home to me. At the same time though, I miss certain things about the Philippines when I'm in the US. It's like being torn as to where "home" really is. And this is a real phenomenon, we actually talked about this in my Women's Studies class back in college.
I think speaking in English will be an advantage for you and you will quickly pick up the Korean words you don't know, as well as the culture since you lived in a Korean household even if you grew up in the Philippines. And yes, it's definitely okay to be sad and cry.
I don't know what your visa status is in the Philippines, but hopefully you'll be able to go back when you want to. Best of luck!
I also had a lot of fears coming back to the Philippines after working overseas for over 10 years. I spent most of my adult, working life there and I didn’t know how I’d cope with working in the Philippines. Had a panic attack when I had to take public transportation in Manila cos I’m a probinsyana and never really got used to it even though I went to college in Manila. I cried in the middle of the street and almost got a full on nervous breakdown. Thank God someone helped me with directions.
I hope you get to adjust fairly quick in your new environment… I was able to, but tbh I still haven’t assimilated completely….hwaiting!
you will make it in Korea, I was about your age when we moved to the US and I'm not gonna lie it was a struggle for me for awhile, I missed everything and everyone in the Philippines, I was ready to go back home after a month but I didn't, and because of that my life is better here in The US at least financially. You can do it. I have been away from the philippines for 34 years now, more than what i spent of my life in the philippines. Of course you will struggle at first but in the end you will get used to. I know you will be bringing with you fond memories of PH, having said that you will be missed terribly by friends and people close to your heart. Leaving your home, your parents and everything you've grown up with and going to a new place is overwhelming. But as you mentioned in the video that we need to take this step at some point in our lives is so true! Thanks for sharing this experience with us (but please don't cry in the future. The Philippines is a very easy country to love. I have been to Korea several times, and its likewise a beautiful (and more modern) country. You will be able to move on and adapt. Visit us again from time to time.

As a Korean living in the Philippines for a long time, or for so many years. It's OK, minsan talaga kailangan mong balikan yung bansa kung saan ka talaga nagmula. Pero hindi naman natatapos yun dun eh. Anytime naman pwede kang bumalik ng Philippines kung gugustuhin mo. Everything happen for a reason, maybe ito na yung chance para kilalanin yung kulturang meron kayo or mga Koreans na tulad mo. Wag kana ma-sad. Cute2x mo pa naman. Good luck! And God bless sayo. 😉😊

Dahil sa age mo now,cguro that is one reason that you need to go back to your roots in Korea to start a new chapter in your life. Marami ding Pinoy at Pinay dun, just go to Little Manila to meet & be friends with them or to Pinoy resto that serves Pinoy foods. Dyan din mga Pinay vloggers married to Koreans whom you can meet too & exchange stories with them & maybe collab in your vloggs di ba such as Slyvia Kim, Dasuri Choi, Kristy Pata, Jovelyn Park,etc.? Watch their you tube channel to know them more.In this way, you'll not miss Pinas that much & you can still come home when you are already stable in your life there. Good luck.
