Kristy, when i was a Grab Driver then, my most Favorite passenger is students from La salle Taft, because, you are all down to earth. Doesn't matter if la salle is let's just say, exclusive? Pero ang ugali ninyo kakaiba kumpara sa Ibang Private school. Masaya kayong maging Pasahero.
La salle students, treated me with "Respect" as if their own family.😊❤️

The increased tuition fee is the same in every country. In New Zealand for example, the tuition for foreign students was like almost a million pesos for a SINGLE semester in a small college for a very basic course. But for citizens, it's only half of that on average because the government subsidizes their tuition. It's the same in the Philippines. Especially for state universities like UP where tuition is almost free, while foreign students have to pay like I think 10k to 30k.

Foreigners pay more for school because of job issues (other than greed, of course). If your country has too many foreigners going to your local schools and then the foreigners return home for a job. That country basically lost a class seat for a local student that could have been a local worker. But if that foreigner studied locally and got a local job, then the country "gave away" a local job to a foreigner. The higher tuition cost for foreigners is to dissuade poor foreigners from getting "cheap" schooling at the local country.
Lots of countries have regulations against hiring a foreigner when a local person could do the job.
Another reason is because foreigners do not pay taxes to the local government. The local government usually collects taxes to provide funds for a local school. So basically, the locals pays as much as foreigners if the taxes local students (and parents) paid to the government are included into the calculation.
So, in short, locals paid taxes to fund the schools, but foreigners didn't. And governments are trying to control how many foreigners can replace the local workers without losing a local workforce.
The tuition is even worse in the US for foreign students. Trust me unironically, bros.

LS Trivia: The Irish-American Christian Brothers of pre-war De La Salle College, Taft developed a very deep personal bond with all their students and it's families. Being a Lasallite before was a family and neighborhood tradition. Everyone in your family members and neighbors were all Lasallites. Lasallian families go several generations deep, starting from your grandfather down to your own son and nephews.
Lasallian and Atenean families had generational animosity against each other. It all gets complicated and crazy when family members oppose each other stemming from their traditional school feud. Those were the old fun days, when life was a lot simpler and more enjoyable.

All i've read about Korean school life was from elementary to high school, the kids study hard just for the goal of getting to the university you wish to go, but when they succeed in getting there, college life is a lot more relaxed than elementary and high school. It is the opposite in the Philippines wher you are allowed to enjoy your youth (elementary and high school) and then you have to study hard in college where you aim to learn your major for your intended career.

But according to my relatives abroad it’s not just Ph it is happening all over the world but if u will compare it to other countries Ph still way way cheaper but quality education. I think it’s also to control the fluctuation of foreign students, ex here in Las Pinas nursing schools here majority now is foreign students and they keep on coming and coming. One day ph government will most likely control that and the fees for foreigners will be much more higher private schools will take advantage of that. Here in my place omg left and right neighbors are Indians Africans Chinese etc.. they said in their classroom of 30 only 5-8 locals some even lower.

When it comes to friends , the boundaries are true anywhere you are. It is natural for us to find a kababayan where we are familiar and identified. Even in here in the US be it in work or school we look for somebody we are comfortable with. But to some it all we are all friends whatever ethnicity you are and I never experienced discrimination. Maybe because I am in California which is very diverse. CHAO AND ENJOY THE PHILIPPINES. LIKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO LOVE TO GO TO SCHOOL 😊

I didn’t know LaSalle use calculator, I thought school in the Philippines doesn’t use them as we never use calculator back then during class in my schools. LaSalle is just like Canada they use calculator in schools here. In regards of tuition fee it’s normal for foreigners to pay different rate than the citizens. Same here in Canada if you are not citizen or PR your school rate is more expensive maybe double of the regular rate.

The reason it's more expensive for foreign students is because they work double time translating language-wise. Compared to Filipinos who are multi-lingual is easy for them to learn.

annyeonghaseyo... nice topic kristy good job.. no wonder why foreigners choose to study in PH because they always say that the tuition in PH is very cheap, compared to the US and Canada or the rest of the world. honestly speaking life in the US is very very hard and you must work very hard to sustain your studies. from what i know de la salle university is good when it comes to business and economics. but when it cones to sciences like medicine one of the best schools is UP and UST. UP/UST/Ateneo university and de la salle is the top university in the PH, and the tuition fees in said universities are no joke either. and yes augustine is rigjt when a certain person asks where a person studies, and he/she mentioned their school, one of the things that comes to their mind is that this person is rich, because the tuition fee here is not a joke. its true also that many foreign workers not only Koreans but also other nationals are working in PH, because many international institutions/industries are also in PH now.👍👍👍

College tuition in the US is extremely expensive. Like we started saving for our kids' college tuition as soon as they were born. Otherwise, they'll have 6 figure dollar debt after they're done. I really don't want my kids to be saddled with student loan debt (with our income, they won't qualify for that much financial aid, if any) so we're being open to all options - whether that's taking college GE courses while in high school (our kids' high school has a partnership with the local community college), going to community college the first 1-2 years and then transferring or going to a college overseas for their undergrad. Depending on what my kids want to pursue (my son is probably going to get into computer science or something along those lines since he's really into coding), I'm seriously looking into Ateneo and La Salle. My kids are half Pinoy and will be visiting the Philippines for the first time in a couple of years. My son will be a sophomore in high school by then. Perhaps we'll take some time to visit the campuses. I miss Katipunan Road since I went to the girls' high school next to the Ateneo campus.
