    So much of arrogance from these guys, even after a loss at home, and against a team that were down to 14 men for 10 minutes. Imagine saying that Ireland just needed to be 5% better and they win etc, that's pure arrogance and it's what the Irish used to accuse NZ fans of. You guys are even worse than how kiwi fans used to be as the ABs during that era were truly dominant, unlike Ireland who have only been slightly better than the other top teams in recent history.
    Ireland were very lucky not to have a guy sent off in the 1st half for their continued infringements, but that wasn't mentioned at all in this podcast.

      and the incessant "we beat all blacks 5 times" thinking it was 5 in a row when it reality it was over an 8 year period and 5 games out of 37 really isn't that impressive - it was all due to those 2 games lost when they came down south - but as the abs know you are only as good as your last game

    I think now a days it’s the team that adapts to the picture that the referee wants to see on the night and for me it’s effort to move during that match
    Ireland just reacted slow on showing the picture to the ref
    The fly half’s will be better after this game. The bench didn’t fire as well! Do you guys think that there are better players or who is coming through for the future Ireland team? What do think about the celebration like England for plays in the thoughts brothers?

  • @bodybalanceU2

    ireland got the rub of the green from the ref and still couldn't win - only got a try when 14 abs on the field - 13 penalties and no yellow card - other refs would have pinged Ireland for their poor discipline

  • @Sam-em1ic
    @Sam-em1ic Месяц назад

    Really liked this chat, lots of good insights thanks. While the ref is always something to look at Ireland just lost the power game and the set piece in the latter part of the second half and it’s about that simple. The calls were very 50/50, with Ireland lying all over the ruck like crazy and then shocked pikachu face when they started getting called for it. On the flip side ratimas hand in the ruck was telling, so it’s all just swings and roundabouts. Thought nz did a great job shutting down the jinky midfield interplay by being a bit softer footed when coming up and waiting to see what develops rather than just biting in, because they know there’s generally one or two short balls coming. they did a similar thing in the wc quarter final and it frustrates Ireland a lot, Irish defence was immense though

    ABs played well but not excellently, Ireland somewhat flat ,scrum held up , good defence, line out abysmal which is ongoing since the world cup, terrible on our own, didn't contest on theirs urgently needs sorting, poor penalties Henderson at the end summed it up. Ireland 6/10 ABs 7.5/10 type performance not a thriller

    Great stuff boys thank you for your insights - its been a wonderful weekend of Rugby - The South are roaring well ahead and if the North dont change and free their arms they will keep losing
    Ireland were under cooked not sure being in Portugal was a smart move I would have been in Dublin preparing NZ are accustomed to playing under lights and the dew that almost evened up the home advantage ABs controlled the scrum lineouts and air - simple as that - No team would want to play NZ or Ireland in a first up season game no way I would be nervous - Ireland are 6 Nations Champs lost to England by one beat SA by one - this game was one off just as the WC QF - they should have been prepared for this one - Farrell f up not being in Dublin preparing NZ came into the game with continunity and momentum - they are the not at their best and dont agree Ireland should feel more disappointed because of that - both teams are rebuilding - the reality is Ireland The Team that is are not as good as they think they are - NZ are in the upper end of their transistion - they have the power to match Ireland and the talented backs to over power Ireland - If Ireland beat Argentina and NZ lose to France they will be back up to # 2 - so much to play for going into the new year - Argentina are the most improved and very dangerous - France have beaten us 2 straight wont be easy

    • @TheContrarianMind
      @TheContrarianMind Месяц назад

      Those are great insights on preparing for this match-I’d actually love to dive deeper into that idea. Preparing in Portugal in hindsight might have been a terrible idea considering we flew in after even New Zealand. As for the notion that ‘Ireland isn’t as good as they think they are,’ I’d have to disagree. In my view, Ireland’s ceiling is higher than that of New Zealand, South Africa, and anyone else, though we rarely reach it for a variety of reasons. We got close to our best against Scotland in the World Cup and France in the Six Nations, above 90% ,though even in those games, we walked away with lessons and knew they weren’t flawless performances. But you get my point.
      After some reflection, I believe the reasons we lost came down to our own mistakes and performance, not New Zealand outplaying us. To me, it feels like we lost it ourselves. The 21 handling errors and other negative stats were our own doing, and they ultimately tipped the game out of our reach.
      Adding to this, the referee’s decisions can sometimes feel like a complete lottery, and in high-stakes games, these calls often have a significant impact. A single controversial decision can gift the opposition crucial points and completely shift the momentum of the match. which we seen happen on Friday, It just frustrates the players costing them mental clarity. Another perfect example of this in my opinion cost us the first test in South Africa in July.

      @TheContrarianMind Hey thanks for your reply NZ out peformed Ireland and thats why they made so many mistakes - they did not play against themselves - they got behind on the score board - they may have gone into the game believing they could win but they had to go back 2 years to channel their last win against us - the RWC Q F is where they lost last - and that wasnt long ago - a couple of chinks in their armour this year was losing to England and SA - ABs have lost 3 in 2024 - I did say the Team thinks they are better than what they are not the nation Although thats just my theory Im sure they knew what was coming down the pipe - they had respect but showed lots of nerves - No Sexton - thats more of a loss than no Mounga - NZ has huge depth even with players and coaches leaving abroad - as well as our national championship comp there is the Ranfurly shield comp running along side - its been going for over 100 years - anyway Dublin is your fortress it took NZ to break it - not England not SA - you might consider that a small blessing - when NZ are finally beaten at Eden Park I want it to be SA that does it - hard for me to say that but it will feel better knowing its not England Ireland or Australia - the other thing is nz had a slightly better bench power youthfulness and experience - Irelands defense was sublime - if your flyhalf has an off day most teams lose - such small margins - agree nz were so fotunate not to lose against England but they found a way - England didnt open the door - that win gave them the belief going into Ireland - still think they were undercooked should be better against Argentina - but I will not at all be surprised if they beat you - prepare accordingly - Im nervous about France if NZ take it and dont have a brain fade against Italy its been a good year - will England upset SA - they will be desperate - wow then its Ireland isnt it ? with the 6 Nations

There was a drunk young Irish woman sitting behind us who screamed obscenities against the All Blacks every time they gave up a penalty. It was so aggressive and unpleasant my Dad hasnt been to a rugby game since. Ok drunk Kiwis watching rugby can be pretty borish, but the screaming for penalties every play of the game is unpleasant and (as someone who has followed rugby since the 80's) not what rugby should be about.

    I agree with the guys that the Irish defence was good enough to hold the ABs to 1 try. I also found Eric's observation that "it looks like Robertson is trying to pare the AB game back to its basics" to ring true. The NZ domestic Super Rugby comp is almost the opposite of test rugby, helter skelter stuff, so a test rugby coach has to undo a lot of those instincts.
    Basically the ABs got over 60% possession and box kicked it away to build pressure , which it clearly did. Ireland then lost their nerve and box kicked the ball back, with less success. The AB attack from set piece was easily stopped, and that is a must-improve issue. But that pared-back base; scrums, lineouts, etc is looking better all the time. Let's hope he finds the next piece of the puzzle soon, because England and Ireland won't stay this poor for long.
