    I both like seeing the actual person that thought up all the cool builds I have around the house and find it very funny (and fun) that you're going to do another LAAT video because you got so ingrossed in that model. I can only hope you get as engrossed in future builds, and continue sharing this passion with us. 😀

    Adding the intro and outro to your videos where you're showing your face adds something personal to the video which I like. I have no connection to the Dune franchise, but this set looks amazing! Thank you for the detailed review and I can't wait to see what kinds of modifications you'll add to this set.

    I love this set but there is something about it that really bothers me. I haven’t seen reviewers mention it so far: The wing elements can be very bowed out of the box. I haven’t been able to fix mine with hot air or water.
    It throws off the symmetry so much, both with the wings extended and retracted. It’s a big strike against the set. It looks like this is actually more the norm than the exception (yours looks the same as mine, for example).
    Since these are the longest Lego elements of all time I can understand the limitations of their manufacturing, but I’d rather have several elements that join together and stay flat.
    Otherwise, this set is basically flawless and beautifully designed. I’m still very happy I got it, but really hope to find a way to fix or replace the warped wings. I’ll respond here if I figure out something!
    P.S. You’re my favorite MOC designer and custom Lego RUclipsr - keep it up! Great to see you in the intro!

    Great review, I like that you really took your time to go on the details. Can’t wait to see your mods and build mine accordingly. A third seat in the cockpit would be awesome ! I can live without the rest of the interior space to keep those incredibles fonctions, but yeah these wings knuckles bothers me a little bit. Plus, most people will display it with folded wing I think, where it’s not at its best visually. For your bended wings problem, I would recommend to heat them slightly with a hair dryer, then leave them for 2 or 3 minutes on a flat surface. This should unbend them. I will definitively try that if mine looks like that, it takes the magic away. After some time displayed, if the gravity bended them again, just switch the sides of the blades on the model and repeat when necessary. I don’t think I’ll mind taking it out for a maintenance and a swooshing cession from time to time ! Such a great model, nearly perfect.

    Good to meet the guy behind the talking hands 😊 This reminds me of back in the day when JangBricks decided to show his face. As a long-term viewer and fan of a given “talking hands” RUclips-channel, after a while you start to know the person, at least in regard to the channel topic. At some point you start wanting to put a face on the person whose opinions you have been listening to for so long.
    You are certainly somewhere on my top-3 of favourite RUclipsrs.
    Good to see the person behind 2Bricks.

    And yeah... considering how lackluster the interor of the ship is already, modifying a row of two seats into the cockpit is kind of like pouring waterbottle on a house fire xD

    This was a fun build, and looks great, but imo the flapping mechanism is disappointing, and the useless bay door always open when the landing gear is down was a poor design.

    5:10 Wouldn't it be possible to add some bulk to the base of the wings?
    My first idea is to make the red 2 wide axle at the base of the wing a 3 wide, giving you a starting point at the other end of the grey piece. Will play around with it.

    Love having this quality review from a MOC builder. Adds a different perspective from others reviews that has been missing. I love to modify my sets, so I’m hoping you do more of these. Cheers!

    The blades, they should have half bend one way, and second half the other if they cannot make it straight....

    I'm suprised by just how big the ship is tbh, I kinda expected it to be a little bit bigger than an X-wing when I saw it in the movie :)
    I also think the technic pieces are a bit garish, and the lack of details on the body are unfortunate. However, I'd love to modify it and get the best out of the ship!

    I personally have no problem displaying this with its wings closed. I think it's almost an invitation to go play with it and unfold the wings. People keep saying it looks better with the wings open but in my opinion it looks just as good with them closed, especially considering that they're not sagging or anything. Edit: Obviously it looks like the pieces you got are a bit bent unfortunately, but at least they're not touching the ground like some MOCs I've seen.
    Now that I think about it, as an engineer, it seems a bit redundant they have the folding mechanism as the ornithopters are used on a planet with vast deserts and plenty of space.. Except I just realized it's probably because of sand storms and to avoid winds from taking it away when it's landed. There's always a cool explanation for things like this in well made movies and it's so great to have a functioning model in Lego form!

      great comment! I agree that it looks really good with the wings folded too. and of course it mimics real world helicopters folding away their rotors for storage, just such a well done design!!

    01:35 Yeah I agree. The build is amazing. I don’t get some of the hate it’s getting with so many disparaging the fact that it has some much Technic in the build….it’s like what did you expect? I think it’s a good balance between the function of a Technic set and the look of an icons set. Could it be a little better looking? Perhaps, but I think they’d have to compromise the function, which to me is the real draw of the ship in the source material and this set.
    The minifigures are Ok. But I’m not a minifigure guy. I build mainly standalone sets typically vehicles- some technic, but a lot of system stuff like the cars. So minifigures weren’t a draw for me to this set. So I am going to be selling them and already it looks like selling them may pay for the set entirely. I had used some points to discount the set, plus I preordered it when there was a few GWPs going simultaneously. I think in real terms the set after everything only cost me £90 as opposed to the £150 RRP, selling the figures should bring that down further making this a great value set for me! 😂
    05:30 I think it’s only a bummer if you’ve seen or are a fan of the modern film version. Personally I’ve seen neither the original nor the remake of Dune. I had no clue about the ship or it design before seeing the set. The set is what drew me to buy it, not the IP and the film so 🤔🤷
    20:26 It may not be good for an X Wing, but it could be useful for an E Wing MOC (an original expanded universe E wing and not the silly version designed for the Ahsoka show with the astromech fully on display instead of concealed under armour). 🤔🤷😂

    • @arghjayem
      @arghjayem 7 месяцев назад

      Well, as I said the minifigures were of no interest to me- so I sold them. Crazily I made almost £90 from the figures alone, but that was before fees and post etc. but it’s meant the set has only cost me around £70!! 😂

    Great review, 2B...I really like the intro/outro with you against the wall. Very simple, clean, profesh. Also totally agree, this set is amazing, all the functions, features, build techniques, and minifigs are all as perfect as Lego has any right to be in a set like this. I also didn't put together until you said it, it is the best example of Icons + Technic in a minifig scale vehicle. That will always be a hit with sci-fi fans the world over. Again, great review! Keep them coming!

      I am frustrared too, but I would prefer anyday the custom wing piece, windscreen and printed house atreides tile. I’m sure some talented MOC builders like 2bricks will find a way to customize it and make it a little bit more screen accurate.

    • @2bricks
      @2bricks  8 месяцев назад

      I understand the frustration too but I also know producing new elements is very costly so the fact that we get 2 new molds for this set is already pretty impressive! I will indeed try to capture it a little better in my modifications - I have some ideas!
