    Just my opinion but proper torque setting for handelbars is worth it. Dont want them moving in the clamps under breaking conditions.
    Good video though and enjoy the channel.

      Ahhhh, you are most likely correct. Folks, my torque setting (as I don’t have a torque wrench) is torque the hell out of these things! They are tight and should remain that way. Thanks for the heads up Steve.

      Hey Brian, thanks for the tip. When I'm on my Springfield I often say to myself, if these bars were only a little higher. Thought I would have to bring it to my local shop but thanks to you I probably can do it myself. Don't think I'll tackle the led headlight install on my own though, lol.
      I also was just watching your review on super chief. In your opinion, how do you feel that bike would have been ( comfort wise) on your Key West trip? Thanks. Ride safe my friend.

      The torque settings for all fastners on your model and year can be found in several places.
      The bike manual.
      Instructions that are shipped with the Indian accessories.
      From the Indian
      owners web site.
      The Indian service manual.
      The settings are different year to year and model to model. If not tight enough bars can rotate in the clamps when breaking hard. If over tightened tbe bolt will actually yield and potentially fail so it is important.

    For the record not many stores sell the 5.5mm socket, you are better off custom ordering one than driving around and trying to find one. The equivalent imperial size, if you have a set, is 7/32. Thanks for this vid, very helpful!

    I found that removing/installing the entire nacelle was easy enough, straight shot to all the bolts. The handlebar clamp fastener bolts for my 2021 Springfield were 6mm, started with 5.5mm, there was some stripping action going on before I corrected. Also the torque setting for the handlebar clamp fastener bolts is 18 ft-lbs. It was a little tricky determining this because the Indian service manual has mixed terminology for the same part, handlebar clamp fasteners and riser cap fasteners.

    Curious what you didn't like about the mini apes? I've been considering the Indian 16 inch apes on my Vintage DH but I'm concerned how, if at all, it will affect turning and slow speed turning. Personally, I think the twelves look funky and are too small. That being said, I do like the look of the stock handlebars on the vintage and had often thought if I could only move them up a few inches they would be perfect. So I may try this before going with the apes. Great videos, thanks for taking the time to post these.

    • @TwoIndians
      @TwoIndians  3 года назад

      Thank you! Didn’t like the mini apes because they forced me to reach way too far forward, no matter how far I rolled them back. Worse than the factory bars. The 16’s are perfection. At first I was very concerned about handling on curves with aggressive riding but to my ecstatic surprise the bake is actually even better now. Something with geometry and leverage/force physics changes when your arm is more straight which results in greater control and less effort. Absolutely love it. The sport bike power rangers would disagree but frankly I don’t enjoy riding with chest horizontal and my neck bent back to see where I’m going. LOL. Get theb16’s you won’t be disappointed. Thanks again for watching and hope you check out our other content.

    • @TwoIndians
      @TwoIndians  3 года назад

      The Chief is not the right bike for me to do any kind of long ride on. Either I'm too large or the seat is too small/firm, one of those too. I think the shocks need an upgrade. Now, if I was 180 lbs and the seat/shock was upgraded...maybe. I'm so used to the longer wheelbase of the Springfield and that provides a smoother ride. Thanks for watching my man!

    You've had that gorgeous Springfield for quite some time now. Any complaints? Any regrets for not going with a Road King? Some have had issues with a lack of aftermarket parts or the limited number of service centers compared to HD, while the Indian gets high marks for reliability. Both give you a great ride, but the Indian is definitely smoother. Can't have both. It's a difficult choice.
