I was actually using that last year until they jacked the rates up haha. I might subscribe again if/when I start doing a lot more trips that really require it but for now I might screenshot maps beforehand and then keep track of where I turn lol
Yeah it definitely was convenient. It isn't too bad just using google maps and caching the satellite maps prior to losing cell reception, but I also dislike google maps because when the phone shakes it makes this annoying popup message constantly. I'll probably go back to Gaia at some point when I can afford to do more frequent trips.
Yeah I just use it for navigation visually via satellite view. This resource is also really nice and I update the status for the roads I manage to find after I get home: backroadstatus.com/
Paul you need to get Gaia Gps, you can pre download a map area before you go and you'll always have a map and know where you are. It works great

Yeah I think it's about $80 a year, not cheap but definitely worth it in my opinion

Google Maps is JUST AWFUL for off road navigation. I also use Gaia GPS. Wouldn't go off road without it

Gaia GPS for the win. Google Maps for the lose.
The latter works for broke people like me though lol
