My heart breaks when he mentions Junior Seau. Rob is scared he’s going to see it again.
My heart hurts too. We should all be scared we don't see another situation like Junior Seau.
O shut up. Your heart does not break over this and if it does you might want to go change your tampon.
The way his voice cracked, man. 😢
@@jackfreezy5527 we will tho. in a study, something like 95% of dead nfl players had cte. it’s horrible but you can definitely count on more people to end up like him.
Yeah that gave me chills. This isn't a guy spitting stats and arguing a case. He's SEEN it, and watched a friend suffer and die from it.
I want to raise a glass to Rob Ninkovich for his words that COULD NOT HAVE BEEN more appropriate, thoughtful, and CORRECT. His comments/interview on Get Up, as well as Greeny’s radio show at 10:00 am this morning, need to be played, re-played, and heard by everyone. You’re a great man Rob. Thank you for the things you said. - William
You can hear him started to tear up when he talked about Jr SEAU
This whole sequence of events makes anything the Dolphins organization is saying very hard to believe. I get the coach is doubling down on what he thinks he truly believes, but come on...you failed him.
I know Generation Z is an emasculated and cowardly bunch, but this is a grown man's sport. They've done everything to make it less barbaric, but it's still violent. Tua signed up for this, so I feel no sympathy for him. Throw the ball away if you're afraid of getting hit. Gen Z's a bunch of skinny boys who would rather step out of bound than lower their shoulder at full speed to embrace the head on collision and then want to fight the other player afterward. That's why in public I always win whenever I'm against a Gen Z "man" because he's actually no man at all.
@@Zenigundam says the 14 year old. Your point about the NFL is 100% correct. Everything else I'd keep to yourself.
@@Zenigundam Troll.

Well said Rob 🖤 broke my heart to see Tua freeze up like that. So many people failed that young man. My heart goes out to him and his family. One can only imagine the feelings they felt watching that live 🙏🏾
I'm literally in tears listening to this on my break😢 prayers for Tua and every football player ,athlete that has suffered head trauma 🙏 Rob N was spot on 💯
In tears. LOL
As a former player, it’s so sad to see. this happens a lot. it’s not hard to pass the concussion protocols. if Tua passed them (which he probably did) then the Dolphins would have no reason not to play him. It’s really up to the NFL or a phenomenal human-being on the dolphins to keep him out despite passing all protocols. it also means that the protocols must be changed. Any sort of knee-buckling after contact to the head should be an automatic no. sometimes common sense needs to play a role in medicine.
100%
The protocols as currently constructed did allow for the Dolphins to prevent Tua from continuing to play on Sunday. They made the CHOICE to let him continue to play. The NFL can simply say that the Dolphins did not follow the rules:
"No-Go" Signs and Symptoms.
If a player exhibits or reports any of the following signs or symptoms of concussion, he must be removed immediately from the field of play and transported to the locker room. If a neutral sideline observer or a member of the player's club's medical team observes a player exhibit or receives a report that a player has experienced any of the following signs or symptoms, the player shall be considered to have suffered a concussion and may not return to participation (practice or play) on the same day under any circumstances:
Loss of Consciousness (including Impact Seizure and/or "fencing posture")
Gross Motor Instability (GMI), identified in the judgment of the club medical staff in consultation with the Sideline UNC, who observe the player's behavior, have access to the player's relevant history and are able to rule out an orthopedic cause for any observed instability
Confusion
Amnesia
Not phenomenal. Just decent. One decent human being in the decision chain. The reason not to play this kid was abundantly clear to anyone who saw what happened Sunday. They all knew better. They took the excuse to play him despite knowing better, and I'm sure it happens all the time. Former players have said it is easy to pass the protocol, and I'm confident Tagovailoa and others have been educated on how--you just claim your concussion symptoms are from something else.
It's all driven by CASH and greed.
By listing his injury as a back/ ankle injury Tua was not in concussion protocol. If he was put in concussion protocol he would not have been evaluated until Friday, so he would not have been able to play Thursday night. He could have been evaluated during Sundays game, but that's what some players are complaining about. Because they listed it as a back injury instead of a head injury they did not have to put him in concussion protocol for the week.
Powerful. I love football. What sucks about how the Dolphins and the NFL are handling this is that it's making me question whether I should any more.
Once a DOCTOR tells you he’s good, that’s end of story. You can’t place blame on an organization if a doctor cleared him. You can be wobbly and dizzy and not be concussed. A doctor said he wasn’t so these chumps acting like they’re doctors and know it all is very irritating. Think of a ufc fighter who gets knocked cold and gets up a minute later to do an interview. It sucks it happened but these guys are just digging for punishment for the dolphins
Barney Miller LOL. There are HUNDREDS of other sports in the world. In the bigger scheme of things football is "irrelevant". Watch how the Mētaverses (and other virtual realities) eradicate live action sports in few years time.
Ryan Tompkins As with ANY medical diagnosis, it is the smartest to seek 2ND AND 3RD opinion. Preferably from someone independent and not someone who is in the pocket of those culpable. Because doctors faking med records were totally unheard of especially from an entity notorious of corruption.
Don't watch. Play Madden
Today, this event changes both the NFL and Tua forever.
I absolutely agree. Such a heartbreaking moment. Everyone who understands the game and witnessed his previous concussion, which was covered up, knows that he should have not been out there. The Dolphins organization should be investigated.
Maybe Tua but the NFL will always be the NFL
GucciBro339! YUP. Just like the NRA. This is why I don't feel "empathy" anymore with these "injuries" or shuutings. You recognize what is wrong but still fail to do something about it. You made your bed, LIE in it. You made your choice, deal with it.
It should change but history repeats. How many Junior Seaus does it take?
@@Physics072 Not nearly enough. Just like all empires, it would take a revolu+!on to bring it down.
When he mentioned Junior Seau I wanted to cry 😢
Rest in peace brother Junior Seau. Probably the most overlooked linebacker in the game. God bless you Rob, stay strong man.
100% ninko. I can feel the emotions when he was talking. He’s witnessed exactly what he’s referring too. So, its hitting him different.
Last Thursday Amazon had the most Prime membership sign-ups at one time in the history of Amazon. People just really wanted to watch the game apparently. This game was a great matchup, especially at QB. May have been a lot of pressure behind the scenes to have Tua out there, with the new Amazon NFL venture
Agreed 100%.
Exactly. Nowadays it's more about networks and subscribers as well as everything about the sports gambling industry. You take a key player out of the game last minute because of health concerns? Oh no, no, no,... can't do that! What about our subscribers and the betting odds? We don't want to upset people and lose money!!! What about possibly putting the player in danger you ask? What do you mean? Not our problem 🤷♀️.
This is why I stopped playing football I’ve had so many undiagnosed concussions and I knew that one day it’s going to affect me so I stopped in college. I was battling through depression and stress which are the signs of cte I’ve been doing a lot better but seeing Tua last night brought back a lot of bad memories playing the game
That whole sequence by Rob just made me so emotional.
AMEN to everything that man said. The Dolphins didn't care enough to rest him after last Sunday. Does anyone think they or the NFL will care after he's retired? Never gonna happen
Very well said. So many people are talking about the other end of this and I think this part here is more important than anything, the long-term health of Tua. Prayers for him.
*Spot on.*
Very well said.
Wow this hit deep! I Appreciate the honesty
The movie Concussion comes to mind here. The NFL seems to not care for its players. They just want the show to go on. These players are taught at an early age to take the other players head right off when they tackle. The NFL is like the gladiator times where the people/fans just want to see blood and gore. A player who gets hurt in todays game is considered collateral damage?
No. It's not the players that's the problem; it's the NFL and the Miami Dolphin's organization. This is just like the sport of boxing. There's a time and a place for the official to step in and stop a player from continuing. I commend Amazon for showing the video repeatedly instead of sweeping the incident under the rug like broadcasters did in Sunday's game. Thursday Night Football must done away with!
Aren’t fans (consumers) as guilty?
@@romeou4965 maybe, but are the American people or the government responsible when a Marine gets his bell rung in combat and is then told to shake it off and stop being soft? In a sense, we are all guilty
Thomas There was an episode about exactly this on THE GOOD FIGHT just two weeks ago. That show is just PROPHETIC in its political/social extrapolations.
This is heartbreaking 💔 and true. Can hear it in his voice especially at the end
I've always thought losing Jr. Seau was hard. I could only imagine sharing a locker with him and seeing Tua's injury.
Very unfortunate, but a game-changer. The NFL's nasty genie is out of the bottle. Especially with current and former players having platforms (IG, twitter, podcasts, etc) to show us what really goes on like never before. Prayers.
This whole situation shows 1. The Concussion protocol needs to be changed. And 2. They should remove Thursday night games. Players don’t have enough time to recover from last week’s game.
Thursday night games are fine *when teams and coaches are responsible,* something that the Dolphins weren't. Most teams and coaches aren't gonna play anyone that got banged up as bad as Tua on Thursday night following the injury. Heck, I don't think Tua plays if it's a Sunday or Monday game and they see how the previous week is effecting him. The Dolphins clearly rushed protocols to get their best players out there, Tua didn't *just* have a back injury on Sunday and now he's in a terrible state. This is 100% on the Dolphins right now, not Thursday night games.
@@jolteon345 Way too many Dolphins fans on this thread.
@@jolteon345 this is just one instance though that a lot of people saw. How many times does a player play through something and we don’t know about it because it’s unseen? We don’t know what goes on behind the locker room and how much is said and not said to the public. Now with that being said, Thursday night isn’t really helping players because it’s too short of a time frame for recovery. 4 days isn’t enough time to be completely healthy. Look at every “common” football injury and to be put back out after only 4 days it’s just too short. Hamstrings for example take at least multiple weeks to be close to 80% to be out there running at full speed. I can’t even imagine from a concussion you’d feel 100% after only 4 days.
Teams playing a Thursday night should be coming off a bye week.
@@Paulafan5 That is smart. Teams get time to rest. Still, concussions are a real issue…
This was a scary moment.. watching the way he locked up was spooky.
I totally agree with you
100% agree
Rob really spoke gems here the NFL has to take action and care more about this concussion protocol issue it’s now getting to the major stars of the league and it is no laughing matter because it’s not always about during they playing career it’s afterwards for Tua and his family this hit home good words Rob 👏🏾 I felt this one 💙
It's not just concussions. Injuries are up across the league everywhere. While they're trying to make the game safer, it seems to create more injuries for some reason.
@@chrismacola9945 facts bro sad thought because tua was doing so well you never like to see that kind of stuff especially when it could of been prevented
Well put buddy
Finally they just let the dude talk and express his concerns and thoughts. They just sat and listened as he beautifully puts it.
It's true; the individual who sustained the injury does not know. My best friend got his head pounded into the sand by a wave while bodyboarding. He came up and shook it off, exactly like Tua did in Sunday's game. We continued to surf. Later that night, he complained off a headache. His mom made him soup and he went to bed and never woke up. He died of a brain hemorrhage. His mom didn't know what happened earlier. Had she known(she's a nurse) she would have taken him to the hospital right there and then.
Tua is from Hawaii and is of Polynesian decent. We come from a culture that has a very strong, loyal work ethic. We do not like to disappoint others. If given the choice, 99% of guys in this kind of rough team sport will play even if injured, unless, it's obvious they can't. Sports is all about profit over the health of its players.
Liam Niesan's wife died from hitting her head while skiing. The way I understand it, it wasn't that hard of a hit. It's a freak accident that can happen and did in her case.
Sorry to hear about your friend.
wow, i dont even watch football like this, but ive been following this story, thank you for your words, i can tell you are heartfelt and genuine
Mr. Ninkovich, Thank you for voicing your concern for Tua!!
Agree 💯
Powerful and so true!
Amen Rob
Great words by Rob. Let me say this. Football is still a great sport and yes has a large degree of strain on the body. There is a CORRECT way to play but we all know those standards aren’t always met. I believe the team didnt do right by Tua allowing him to play. Once the team clears him to play and Tua gives the ok the general public and the nfl take them for their word. It wasn’t too much of an uproar about Tua playing until he got hurt unfortunately. My point is, it should have never got to that point if the protocols and rules were followed correctly. The dolphins staff will have alot to answer for. Someone should be fired in my opinion.
Makes me think about those who suffered concussions in their high school days who never made it to where the went pro. It’s the regular people who I wonder about dealing with the effects of a concussion from when they played ball in their early years who won’t be understood like players that went pro if cte symptoms arise. My heart goes players like Tua and ones that won’t get a mention in their regular day to day lives trying to make it.
Thanks rob😥
Mad respect for this guy!!

I am amazed how some guys, like Troy Aikman, can still be so sharp after all those concussions, yet others are like broken-down, former boxers.
qbs take less hits
Boxer get hit in the head ALL THE TIME...thats why , even if they dont get knocked out . They are still taking blows to the head CONSTANTLY.

True words 👍
I'm a hard-core mma fan and when a fighter gets knocked out he's suspended for 90 days minimum. I was thinking about the movie concussion they don't want a star qb suspended for 90 days that's a whole season so there brains never really recover going in after 4 days of getting rocked
Watching the injury he got against the Bills he should NOT have played against the Bengals. He had a concussion and after 4 days got another injury that aggravated his current ones. Seeng him on his back on the field like that with his fingers contorted was terrifying and heartbreaking. That stadium had over 60,000 people and they were silent while Tua was down. Then the crowd of fans all began chanting Tua's name. He was the QB of the opposing team. But he's still a human that should not have been on the field that night. And hopefully the Dolphins are heavily investigated and fined and Tua can recover. If that means missing 2-4+ games. So be it. You can't be risking a mans life like that. Thank God it didn't paralyze him or put him in a coma or vegetatative state.
For real. This is probably the most irresponsible thing I've ever seen in a long time. He could've been like you said completely paralyzed or even dead. Nobody should play 4 DAYS after a concussion. This is sad and the whole Dolphins organization has failed Tua. I hope he's okay but he won't be the same person after something like this. You can't do your very young and promising qb like this. Someone needs to get fired or suspended for letting him play.
You can see the fear rob has for Tua after sitting next to junior. And you can see he wishes he had stopped junior from playing at times. Dude almost lost it. I say Rob should be in charge of those calls for the NFL. I think he has seen enough to make the tough calls that need to be made for these players
Well said sir
Well said Rob. Everything 100% spot on. He cares and knows who doesn't care.
That was absolutely disgusting. The NFL should be ashamed that their negligence in the concussion protocol allowed Tua to play 4 days after his last concussion. He has sustained two significant brain injuries over the course of a week. So stupid and unnecessary. They tried playing off the first one as a back spasm, and now we see him on the field posturing with muscle spasms.
Yeah might as well turn him into a zombie because both instances were him smacking the back of his head on the turf.
A MASSIVE class action suit enough to cripple the league coupled with a major legislations is the only solution. This should be backed by something much bigger and richer than the NFL.
We need a lot more injuries like these, most desirably on a SUPER BOWL. Let's see if the league would finally get up on their golden seats or at least people would open their eyes.
@@savagebuck Kooper Kupp got his head smacked around quite a bit in last year's SB.
Yeah, they want to act like they care about players by changing all these rules "to make the game safer" but when a star player on a winning team actually gets injured the NFL doesn't even follow it's own rules. Seems like ratings are more important than player safety? I don't know how much power Goodell really has but ever since he's been the commissioner, the NFL has had tons of controversial calls and tons of rule changes. They also seem to advertise sports betting a lot recently...
Bengals fan here hope Tua is ok scary hit & a legal hit the league, the Dolphins & the medical people all failed him.
I like Rob even more after this. Very powerful
These two injuries could easily be separate injuries. Last season the chargers guy froze up and no one said a word and now that tua had the same fall, everyone is blaming the last injury
That’ll preach!
deep
DAMNIT...MY DOLPHINS CAN'T CATCH A BREAK 💔💔💔😭😭😭😭..... PRAYERS 🙏🙏 FOR TUA AND FAMILY 🧎🧎
Everyone in the NFL should listen to these words over and over.
I've been the biggest Tua fan from day 1, despite not being a Fins fan, I always rooted for him, and I swear I was going crazy in the Baltimore game. And now the negligence of someone irrevocably ruined his career. This kid was starting to find himself back and show what he's capable of and he'll never be the same again, cause he won't. And someone has to pay for this.
What's the point of analytics from Amazon AWS to Vegas betting markets to project probability of outcome of games.
If they needed more of a reason to sit Tua outside the visuals of him staggering, probably one of those Smart Charts would have shown it is best for the brand, and long term success season to sit him, recover, even if it means losing a game. Instead jeopardize the season, as well as his career.
One thing the NFL touts is the new tech in monitoring players acceleration and collision forces. Why glaze over the data? Put it to use and make objective calls based on impact markers, not subjective neurological testing.
Could not have been put better. Absolutely true.
Rob's take here needs to be broadcasted on every network. Powerful and articulate
Not true. You can get symptoms that look concussion like with a back injury. Ive fractured my spine and when it happened i didnt know what had happened stood up and this almost fuzzy electrical feeling was in my head i was wobbly and fell over. Your spine can send almost an impulse that can make you dizzy nauseated and disoriented.
The defensive tackle took him like a rag doll and body slammed him to the ground. I'm surprised it wasn't a personal foul.
That's not a penalty, and it wasn't that violent at all.
Rob nailed it.
The contact his head had on the ground was massive. I'm not so sure Sunday had anything to do with the damage. That of course is separate from the issue of whether he should have been on the field in the first place.
The Thursday damage would've been grave alone but it's reasonable to ponder that even further successive damage took place "under the surface".
@@user-cz7bu5qk8w a second consecutive brain trauma injury is terrible. it was bad on Thursday because he brain was still injured from Sunday. the protocols exists for this very reason because the danger is the cumulative effect.
Im so glad he mentioned those fake commercials they keep playing about helmets
I saw the NFL ad promoting last year as the least head injuries ever.
Then Tua got a "spine injury"
Dolphins aint the only ones
This happens all the time . Been happening for years . It is going to keep happening until changes are made .

Just hearing Rob mention Junior Seau kills me! Hope he doesn't see it again!
Tua needs to come out and check all these people and say it's my body. It was my choice. It was my decision nobody's going to tell me what I should do with my body and nobody is going to talk to me as if I'm a child and I can't make my own decisions.
Its broke my heart its heavy emotional Rob
Ninko speaking facts.
True facts! Athletes play a sport to entertain, but at the end of the day, it's family that will be by your side. All that ego mindset to play while injured is in error, and needs to be corrected else many younger players will push themselves to the point where they are in their 40s and can't walk or do anything.
And the NFL will slowly shrink with less people playing.
FACTS
The way that Tua was tackled last night was entirely unnecessary. I don't hear anyone talking about that.
Absolutely. Hard to protect players when that suplex isn’t even a penalty
The problem is that QBs are so hard to tackle these days. If the NFL wants to get rid of that, then a QB in the grasp of a defender has to be whistled dead immediately.
😂😂😂bro who is doing these captions
All these guys saying he shouldn’t have played after the fact. Speak up earlier next time. No one said this before the game
We’ll said brother 🔑💯🙌🏾
why does no one talk about the dt who threw him down
Now they want to say his injury played out as somewhere way to where it harmed him someway. His agent is amazing. Whoever his agent is he needs to ask for 10 to 15% extra. I said this last year and I really mean it if he doesn’t get that contract shaved he would be crazy.
Nailed it!
It seems a concussion on the field is just like a KO/TKO in the ring. When that ref sees that you're wobbling, groggy, or struggling to stand he calls it off and doesn't allow you to carry on. This probably should've happened last week with Tua. It's crazy because football and boxing just happen to be my 2 favorite sports. I kind of feel a way about rooting for hard hits, sacks, and knockouts because traditionally that's the way it's been. But now that we know better we have to do better...period.
In other sports, a Concussion spotter would have ruled that a "concussion" and the player would have to be in full protocols. They might be able to come back, but after spending time in the "dark room", and passing all the tests completely.
Felt this way when tony Ferguson got front kicked ko’d by chandler
Concussions have been happening in the NFL for a long time. For everyone who is suddenly concerned about them I say this: back off a little. Your sudden concern rings hollow. Rob Ninkovich never was concerned before. He is just jumping on the bandwagon trying to get hits. That's the disgusting part.
Anyone saying the dolphins failed Tua is being soft. If they have people outside the nfl clearing him then he was cleared. This is pro football. Let’s act like it please
Stop making the players feel like their job can be in question once the next player up does a phenomenal job. That's what it boils down to, then they won't try to fight through the injury
