I've had this conversation with people about Tim and I'm still shocked at the lack of respect this man gets. People are so in love with hero ball and astronomical athleticism that they can't see value in good fundamental play. I've had a similar conversation about Mike Schmidt. Tim and Mike, the greatest to ever play at their positions but because they lack pizzazz and flare, no one sees it.
I aliken Duncan to Jerry Rice or John Stockton. Not a whole lot of flare but they did it the right way.
I agree. Tim was phenomenal and arguably top 5 all-time. Yeah he didn't have a huge personality, or even the "look", but he did his job at the highest level, and he's a winner. I never understood the criticism towards him.

Tim Duncan one of the most underrated players his entire career just because he doesn’t “look” like a great athlete. He just does it the right way and back in the day those Spurs teams were a joy to watch. That extra pass was killer back then and they didn’t let teams score 30 points off transition 3s. How times have changed.

Born and raised in Tucson, I appreciate the years Richard Jefferson gave to the Arizona Wildcats. But he’s just playing wrong here. Duncan was an incredibly efficient scorer and rebounder. A consummate team player too!

Skip's top 10 all-time players is pretty bad with Shaq at 3rd and LeBron at 9th. But he's also one of the very few who puts Duncan in his top 5. His top 5 goes MJ, Magic, Shaq, Kareem, and Duncan. He's a Spurs fan but he's more into Manu than Timmay.
Timmy is not top 5. Head to head, Hakeem would have overwhelmed him. Skip should not be anyone's authority on the NBA.
