Ppl are sleeping on the Wii console. I have 2 with 3 tb hard drives hooked up on em. One has the entire GameCube library and the second has 1k Wii games on it (couldn't fit em all lol). LOVE USB LOADER GX!
Can you please link the hard drives you use? I’m having space issues downloading all of these games lol
@@thebaker3866 I have a 3tb Western Digital on the GameCube setup. For my Wii and Wii U I use Seagates 5tb. USB loader GX is only 2tb Max. But if you use a 3tb minimum it will give you a little more than 2tb space. They should always have their own power supply as well. It takes the load off the Wii. Hope this helps.
How do you play the GameCube stuff? Do you just make a folder called iso? Just like you do with wbfs for wii

Thank you so much for such a good guide. I have tried many times over the years to follow other guides and they never worked until I followed your guide! So awesome!!
This guide FINALLY answered the question of how to get the Wii / Gamecube / WiiWare tabs on USBLoaderGX. Seen it a thousand times and no one ever says its a modified wad version!
I still dont get it 😅 how do you get the wii/gamecube/wiiware tabs?

Thanks very, very much for this. I've followed many guides, including the text one, and I haven't been able to get any of them working. This one, however, worked great! Thank you for making this, and you've earned yourself another subscriber!
I've just started using your guide here and you've already provided more help than any of the other guides I've used! Those others have ranged from bare minimum details with too many lingering questions to long meandering nonsense that's comparable to that lawyer trying to get that guy to define a copy machine. I'll comment again when I've completed my process!
How did it end up going? I'm thinking about modding my Wii as well
one of the best guides i ever seen on here. every detail is meticulously explained. that's how you do a guide. thank you so much. i was left with no questions to ask. that's a beautiful thing. you are legit, bro
This man. He really explained everything
Well I do wish he explained about the bottom USB port of the Wii. Not being in the know as to why it doesn't work the explanation "as that should work perfectly fine" doesn't quite do it for me. I'm dumb and I want to know why it should work perfectly fine!
it isn't meticulous. it only takes him 3 minutes into the video to completely skip a step and fail to explain a number of things. It's a fucking useless tutorial to anybody new to this kind of thing. Absolute waste of fucking time
@@user-qg2gy5lg4g thats understandable. Im not an expert but from what i could gather about it, its something to do with bottom one being the first port for loading up the USBs. Some things by default just points to the first usb port when told to load something USB, wich is "port 0" (the bottom slot) and the top usb slot is "port 1".
And thats all i know about it from what i can see sometimes
This solved all my problems because you had everything neatly setup in a folder already.
Thank you for that, it is most appreciated.

Godamn setting up USB Loader GX has been one of the most tedious energy draining experience I've have in a long time, but the end results satisfyingly paid off. Thanks for the tutorial
How did you get games to load
What problems did you have? Do usb drives have to be formated to fat 32? Which usb drive did you use?
What I did & used:
USB 3.1 samsung FIT usb
NTFS format
Roms in .wbfs format
Roms Folder setup inside usb:
"wbfs">"Gamename [GAMEID]">The actual rom itself (Renamed as their GAMEID only)
Example:
wbfs > Wii Party [SUPE01] > SUPE01.wbfs
Download and copy the extracted files from the megalink into your usb, to have a the setup done for you.
What makes playing backups difficult on the wii is the tedious separate many folders you have to make for every wii game and renaming everyone of those folders their name and id, instead of drag and drop em in a usb and you're set togo
@@Starwarsgeek-98 yeah you need to format your usb drive to fat32, if your hard drive is too big to format to fat32 you can download a program online
You're a life saver! I couldn't figure this out without this video.
Thank you for taking the time to create this video! I was having such a hard time trying to figure all of this out!!
Thank you! Finally i can enjoy some gamecube backups :) edit: Wii games work to from the same HDD. Used wbfs partition earlier but switched to fat32 now
This a a great video for power users looking to optimize the last bit of the Wii. Thanks to you I was able to add the VC games flawlessly to my usbgx loader setup. Thank you!
LOVED your last one! Helped me get my wii hacked just fine! Can't wait to see what new knowledge this video holds!
This was a solid guide to doing this. Obviously, he doesn’t touch upon getting roms online which is something I had to do myself. I found that doing this was easier on Windows than on Mac with the Wii and GC managers available there. There were a few snags I found when following this guide like him not making it clear where to download the files at the start of this video. Also, when setting up the USB channel I found that my Wii remote didn’t work there specifically. Good thing I had my GC controller to continue the process.
The controller with wii motion plus inside worked perfectly fine for me, amazing guide!

For anyone having problems with Wii backup manager, it took me like 2 hours to figure out that you have to have the wbfs or iso in a folder that you select. It would not work if I just used the file itself. Hope this is helpful!

Thanks for making this video very easy to follow. I bought a Wii for 10 bucks at the flea market. I fixed it up and just want a game system that I can play my backups of GameCube games
Same
Honestly i found this guide pretty hard to follow and unclear in certain areas. Im unclear on what the difference is between the games and wbsf folders is and which one to put games in or if i need to put each game in both and feel like you often bring up unnecessary points “this is for wii ware games which we will get to later/ dont worry about this we will get to it later” these parts of the script i feel break the pace and make it harder to follow the instructions. I also think it would be easier to understand if you didnt keep swapping between talking about wii games and GameCube games. If the tutorial was just about setting up the loader and downloading wii games and then after that had a section about GameCube games it would be simpler and easier for someone new to modding like me to understand. The video is still pretty good when it comes to the editing and the voice is clear.
The question is did you get it to work ?
If not hmu
The same with GameCube but instead of calling it wbfs the folder should be called Games

Great tutorial mate, quick question for you, @14:50 are you running a custom theme in usb loader gx?? How did you get the separate tabs up top to separate your GC, Wii, and WiiWare titles?
I'm wondering the same thing. My gx loader is from 2019 which supposedly is the latest one but mine doesn't have the 3 tabs (wii, gc and wiiware) at the top like in this video.
It’s included with the files download called USB loader gx mod. I installed it using wiimod
Thank you. My wii dvd drive died and didn't want to take it apart to clean or repair. Bravo. My 2 wiis will have second life
Thank you I can finally try out F-Zero GX!
Wii ISO games is an absolute nightmare. The amount of hairpulling is something extraordinary. The ios versions, the slots, the bases... It's absolutely insane how much you need to configure blindly. And you need to assign a ios for both the launcher and the individual game. If you need to use a mic, it's one certain ios, one certain slot, one certain base... If you need a skylanders device, it's a totally different one... It's horrific. And you need to restart and try over and over and over... It's a shot in the dark every time.
Then all of a sudden loaderGX stops recognizing your hard drive, because you installed the wrong ios on the wrong slot with the wrong base. Which one was it before? Who knows? It's a never ending whirlpool of puke.
Mine just stopped launching wii games…. But still works fine with gamecube -_-

AWESOME WORK DUDE
I followed this guide and got everything working, thank you so much for this video!
I did run into an issue where I would get a black screen while launching Wii games, and the only way out of it was to force shutdown the system. Turns out this was an issue with my 32GB Sandisk Ultra USB 3.0 flash drive.
I solved this by using Wii Backup Manager to format the drive to wbfs, and transferring the wbfs files to the flash drive using that program. The games now work perfectly. The only issue with this is that all of my gamecube games will have to be stored on the SD card, and if I ever want to add more Wii games to the flash drive, I'll have to use Wii Backup Manager to do it. As long the games work, I'm happy. Thanks again.
Where do you install the loader? If you format the flash drive in wbfs format then you cannot input anything except the games. May be I am wrong. Could you please explain how did you make it work in detail. Thank you!
Hey Anton, I'm having a problem. My Wii was playing Wii games through USBLGX, but lately, it's been doing a "digital DRE" for some reason out of nowhere. I've been through newer and older versions of USBLGX and I keep getting the same error. That was the recommendation of other people that have had this problem. What's hilarious is that the GC games don't have any problem playing, only Wii. How can I fix this? Also, I am using a Toshiba Canvio 2TB hard drive for everything (apps and games), but of course, a SD card for NAND backups through BootMii. I just don't want to have this problem anymore. P.S., I have done the "delete GXConfig file" and it worked for 2 games and it stopped loading them again. Please help.

Hey man, thank you so much. Very very helpful, but i noticed that in your video the usb folder also has a "wad" file, but when i download it only had a total of four folders, not including a "wad" folder. Is this on purpose ?
The wad folder is in the compressed file but many tools when you extract will not make the empty folder. Just make one called wad.
@@proceduralgames is this a requirement?
@David Mashiah if you want to use wad files. They are files for wiiware games/channels/virtual console games.
Could you consider making a tutorial on plugins/loading older ROMs through USBLoaderGX?

Yeah I had a problem with the 2020 vid as well. Just used this tutorial now after backing up my game saves and resetting my wii, and it works like a charm. The biggest factor in it not working for me in the 2020 tutorial, was my usb. Getting the right usb definitely helps.

Don't know if it has been already asked but what theme are you using? I'm looking especially for the GC, Wii etc. tabs at the top
Is there a way to do all of this stuff without having the Wii connect to the internet (mostly changing the cIOS)? I have literally tried everything possible and I just cant get my Wii to connect to the internet. I have Xfinity and it is the modem that automatically changes between 2.5 and 5 ghz. The Wii just doesn't seem to like it and wont connect to my WIFI.
I was having similar issues with the Wi-Fi. The wireless card inside the Wii is ancient. You should buy a USB-ethernet adapter and plug it straight into your modem, it's super reliable and always works. You need a usb-ethernet adapter that advertises itself as compatible with the Wii. They should cost around 10USD.
I have this same problem!!! I also have Xfinity have spent so much time looking for a way to connect the internet up to it. And I can't use a Ethernet cable because the Wii is too far away from my router.

You ever solve this? This is where I am. I seemingly have it all done right and no games show up
Great, this fixed some games that wouldnt load correctly
Once you insert the usb into the wii how long does it take for homebrew to load mines is still loading after almost an hour?
Thank you so much for your tutorials. These worked 100% for me on getting my Wii all setup. A couple things I've learned along the way that I found useful:
1: If you are using a USB flash drive (I have a 2tb generic flash drive) and not a external harddrive. You have to format it to Fat32 for the whole USB flash drive for gamecube games to work. NTFS works fine for Wii games and WiiWare, but if you want Gamecube on there it has to be FAT32. This works with the Wii and WiiWare games too. Windows unfortunately is the only OS that doesn't recognize partitions on removeable media (external usb drives don't fall under this category). Maybe on Mac OS it's possible to partition both NTFS and FAT32 on the same thumb drive, just not windows. Only limitation of Fat32 is you have to split the WBFS files that are larger than 4gb.
2. If you are having trouble converting NKT.ISO files for either Gamecube or Wii. Make sure you have Nkit1.4_FullyLoaded_2021-12-01, that way you have all the DAT files to convert and fill in missing parts of the file. Without this, you will not be able to convert either games, and you'll keep getting a Verification Failed process.
3. This held me up forever, but I kept naming the Gamecube files "game.iso". But you really just need to name it "game". Leave out the iso part because it's already a file extension. Don't do what I did and make it "game.iso.iso" haha
My computer doesn’t have an SD card reader is that a problem? Can I just use USB and keep the SD in the wii?
@@andresallington455 a usb stick will work just fine

For WiiWare, you can also put Virtual Console games and downloadable Wii Channels (like the PAL only Kirby TV Channel and the Japan only Food Delivery Channel and even the biggest Wii + Internet video channel) you can even put your custom VC inject wads on too if they work of course.
Plus for some games you might need to change the settings (like Mario Party 9) because you may get a Region Error message, I have a PAL Wii and Japanese MP9 and changed the settings to Disc Default and Japanese and it works.
Oh and you can also rip burned Wii and GameCube discs too, not just official.

Thank you very much for the video was very helpful. However FYI to everyone you definitely do NOT need an SD card to play games on USB Loader / Nintendont just a compatible USB drive. An SD card might make it easier with managing applications though and some apps do require it.
