I have SO many things I could say here in response to the commenter. What he is failing to remember is your sole income doesn't come from reselling items, but from additionally being a content creator. Each content creator has his/her own style, and your style is not the same as Kevin's style. I adore both of you, and I appreciate so much what both of you bring to the table. I have also learned a ton about reselling from both of you. I am also sure that the commenter doesn't have the same reselling style as me or others who may also resell. That doesn't make me wrong, him wrong, or anyone else wrong. It's just different. Because the beauty of doing this reselling thing is we enjoy doing it. And cramming ourselves into someone else's box is definitely not enjoyable. You're no dummy and obviously spent lots of time with Tina figuring out how to quit your job, do this full time, and spend more time with your family. That's what's important to you. So...I say all of this to say to Lenny, "You do you, buddy!" There just isn't a need to throw everyone into the same box. And Dave you'll continue doing your thing, and Kevin will continue doing his thing, and both of you will continue to both teach and entertain. And all of the rest of us will continue doing our thing and working hard to make money and enjoy this thing we do.

If your shelves fit too many plush to make it efficient to pull them, split your shelf with tape down the middle and have (for example) shelf 3 left and shelf 3 right. That will cut the pull time in half. If you need to split them down further, that's easy enough too. The tape gives a visual line for where each side begins/ends. Good luck!

Heres an idea ... hang a stretchy net, however many you need, from the ceiling, using screw in eye bolts or plant hangers that can hold weight, and fill each net with the plush. When one sells you can look up and see through the net to locate it. It may mean you have to take a few out to get the one sold, but it takes no shelf space or having to dig for hidden ones. OR this might be a better idea, which I've done myself .. Take thumb tacks and hang each stuffed animal on the ceiling by the tag or ear or clothing if present. It's easy to locate the one you sold and you can hang hundreds of them without using any shelf space at all. For larger sizes you may need more than one tack. This also provides insulation and sound proofing, which is a plus! Don't do this with popcorn ceilings. Also you can find various types of nets online, pretty much any would work, the bigger the better for your situation. Thanks for another informative video! Look forward to the next ...

The irony is the guy who made that comment to you provided you with content for youtube that brings in money. You are doing exactly what a majority of us who watch, wish we were doing. You put the time in and had the ballz to go for it, which is beyond admirable and what separates you from wishful thinkers. You are also super relatable as far as being a family man who balanced a full time job for years on top of a side hustle that you were able to turn into your full time career. You are a few years ahead of me but provide a lot of motivation to where i would truly like to be. You are your own boss so keep doing you. It's working. You're the man Dave.

Dave I will never get used to people who saying rude things or just being mean to resellers on RUclips. I am not a reseller and enjoy 10 to 15 different resellers. If these people want to watch people who are in it for every penny can get, they are on RUclips as well. You are actually a really great reseller. You have a great eye for a variety of different items and can see profit on the items you purchase. Stay true to who you are and how you run your business and you will continue to love what you do. That is what life is about. I love your videos and have watched you for years. Thanks for the great content in all your videos.

hahaha dave, dont listen to the haters, i think you do stuff that works for you and your way of reselling. I watch kevin from time to time, but i mean to me his channel has clickbait titles that make me not want to watch and it feels to scripted, which is what i like about your channel, its you doing your thing. and from the few whatnot auctions i have done, i think they advise you to not schedule to far out because its kind of an impulse site, a couple days is plenty, and lots of people go live random or with less than 24 hr notice.

It wasn't so much a rant as it was a lesson in reselling. It shows the thought and direction you have taken with your reselling business. Part of the privilege of working for yourself is that you get to choose how you run things. Some people enjoy organization, watching auctions, tweaking prices and using ebay to optimize sales. Others, there is joy in the entertainment portion, or maybe getting items to people that see value in the item. Dave's style and preferences brings him joy. His joy is probably not the same as your joy, and that's ok. To assume that Dave is not thinking about selling strategy, isn't not only ignorant but is also tons of assumptions of what is happening in that crazy ADHD brain of his. The term "better" and "most" is not comparable or measurable across sellers. Last thing: Dave has demonstrated that he adapts well, adjusts when it's need, and is getting better. Fortunately for us, he puts it on video that we can consume... and in some people's cases, make really ignorant statements.

I think you could hang your plush from the ceiling using laundry line/rope and clothes pins. Those shelves cause you to stack them on top of each other and you cannot see what you're looking for. You can also hang them using the upright shelf posts on your existing shelves from rope using clothes pins. You would be able to see them without having to dig. Dave I think this may be one of my absolute favorite vids of yours!!! I loved hearing your decision making process on what platform you list. If it makes sense for you and your business then that is what matters. We all have to make our own decisions on our own businesses. At the end of the day it is about you, your family and happiness. Do what gives you joy! I think the rational for how you list and how many listings makes complete sense. Will it be the right business model for someone else? Maybe. Maybe not. And that’s perfectly ok.
Did you think about binning your plush on the shelves. Thinking It may be easier to sift through? Anyway really enjoyed this one. You are also more than a reseller. You are a very entertaining content creator. You are one of my favorite go to channels! Keep up the good work!

I have a substantial amount of plush also. I keep mine in the large totes. Sometimes it's still a hunt - but on a lot smaller scale than your shelves.
I think Lenny needs to learn that no 2 resellers do things the same. While you can learn tips and tricks from watching resellers on RUclips, I'm betting that no one does things exactly like another reseller. You are a good reseller and have multiple platforms to sell your items. You know what sells the best and where to sell it. Personally, I can't do Whatnot - I just don't have the time to devote to it.
Thanks for another great episode - loved the rant! :)

The amount of listings is different for different business models and types of items. We now maintain thousands of items on multiple platforms. And the more listings we create the more money we make. However, when we use to sell more vintage clothing we would price items to sell, and try to list multiple items everyday. We would usually maintain about 1,000 items in our inventory vs. now with media (CDs, DVDs, Books, etc.) we maintain about 10,000 items in our inventory. Best wishes! -Steven

Dave, I have to say, often times watch you Carey and Kevin, I see where you have a lot to learn from Kevin (finances and business model kind of discussions) however I see and hear your good life decisions you've made to get where you are as well . I think there's (don't laugh) just a maturity level that will evolve over time.. Well.... In some areas 😂 fellow ADD person here and I'm not sure we're able to fully mature in our personalities 😂😂😂 anyway. My entire point here is, keep doing you. Keep making good financial decisions that keep your bills paid. Enjoy your life. A fast nickel is OK if that's what is working for you and you're exactly right, enjoy what you do. That's why you quit your job anyways right? To enjoy the life of reselling. It makes sense to me. Not every buy or sell is going to be the best. But you're not bankrupting yourself and you're enjoying it. So who cares what the internet keyboard warriors say. Constructive critism is fine. And find something to learn and take away from everything. Otherwise. Keep enjoying work and life. ❤

This is my suggestion regarding plush organizing. Build wall divider and continue with the sticker labels for sorting/filing. Many years ago, you had tried a wood working YT channel so you must have decent/basic skills or better. You can rip a sheet of thin ply to fit tightly and insert it/wedge it/secure it to wire shelving with zip ties. If you do not want to do the woodworking, then you can also use thick poster board/cardboard instead of the plywood. This will utilized all your space and not lose out on space if you would use tubs.

For plush, I have large totes that I mark "Plush A"" "Plush B", and on. Mark the sku with the tote and that makes your pile smaller to dig through. Maybe that will help you. Also, do you schedule your listings on eBay? Scheduling X amount per day, rather than marathon listing all at once keeps you engaged with eBay. Ebay loves consistency. Just a suggestion. Everyone's business runs differently to meet each of our needs. You do you.

I store plush in clear bins. That way I can pull out a bin look around the edges, top and bottom and mostly find whichever one I’m looking for.

You quit your job a while ago and here you still are making it happen. I think you are your own person and sell how you see fit for you. Mistakes are made along the way but you are not the only one. Think you’re doing great.

Ive tried a couple ways to store plus.. my newest..and thing I will keep..is haveing a few very large..or mid boxes labelsed and going through and adding a custom sku for each plus in what box. I have done it by the date listed when I listed a large quantity . That wasy you can keep them from collecting dust on the shel (in a closed box) and you can also stack the boxes so its easier. Of coarse.. with big boxes..there are quite a few plush in there... but at least they are in an organzed setup. I have also used the mesh 3 section laundry dividers.. but ther are super bulky

For the plush get deep cardboard open faced bins from Uline. You’ll have just as much space but you’ll be able to SKU them separately so you can find them easier.

100% agree with you. People don't seem to realise that when you have a large enough online presence, selling on eBay is a colossal waste of time. Much like hairy tornado, i imagine your picking videos earn you more per hour than listing on ebay does. People also fail to realise selling on whatnot is a great way for a busy youtuber to liquidate the items from those videos for a decent price as well as getting the money and space back.
    Keep up the great work!

The problem I have with your quick buckle argument is that it is based on the premise that you need the money back to go source. Are you often unable to source because you don’t have enough money? I feel like for most people having money to source is not the limiting factor in their business.

Bought a jacket at the thrift store recently. Misread the label/graphic on the jacket. Thought it was a Tesla jacket, which, sells for a ton of money (the hoodies and pullovers don't sell for much). Got home and realized it wasn't a Tesla jacket but a Tumi jacket. Worth significantly less and on top of that, these jackets were sold via Groupon for like $45 a while back. Considered just re-donating it back because jackets are kind of a hassle. Finally decided to just listi it on eBay for like $35+shipping and sold it in two weeks. Gotta love when you think about throwing stuff out or re-donating it and finally just post and it sells fast, lol.

For plush use what many stores did in the 80s
A 2 x 2 pole with dowels randomly screwed in on all sides
Plastic tags that look like an open hook and hang each on the dowels
The tags are attached with tagging gun and super cheap
Its similar to tags used to replace the red barbs on ty tags that come loose lol

Are all of the plush listed? If not, definitely get the unlisted out of that area. If they are listed, sort in a way that makes sense, and put them in bins...maybe sort by animal, type (Disney), small, large, etc.

Put the plush in bags and mark bags with a number. Also make sure to put the number in the listing somewhere you will see it. So easy to pull like that.
