    I can't imagine a car bought today looking so good and running so well after 44 years. It's beautiful, and an excellent car, the slant six is a legend.

    Always liked these Dart SEs - nice lines, simple and straight with some nice luxury touches in the interior.

    A Dutch Dodge Dart! A rare sight in Europe when new, even more so now. I lived in Belgium in the seventies and knew of two people who drove these cars. I always liked their simple aesthetics and purposeful look. The slant six was a very good engine quite well adapted to Europe driving conditions. I enjoyed watching this video although a driving segment would really bring this car to life.Thanks for posting.

    Very sleek, fine, show room one. This same model that we saw here at Bogota, Colombia, but pretty different in interior, wheel covers and general exterior trim. Any metallic or glitter paint, bench front seat with no armrest, very austere so say so. Engines and configurations as follows: Base model: 225 slant Six with Holley one barrel carb, manual A 230 three speed with column shift, no A/C, no radio, power locks, mirrors, windows, steering at all, and a Dana 44 rear axle with a 3.91 final ratio. The another model, almost as base car, but with a V8 318, automatic A904 trans, power steering, same rear axle, and A/C unit. Good performers, both 6 and V8. Miss them so much. Few survivors.

    What a glorious automobile the 75 Dart Special Edition is. This one is particularly lovely. The 40/20/40 front bucket seat is so comfortable. It really is an all day seat. Nice to hear a slant 6 with quiet valves. It means someone has been adjusting them at each service. I love everything about this car except that engine. The 318, particularly in 4 bbl form, uses less fuel and produces significantly better performance, plus it has a sound like no other. We had a 75 Swinger with the 225. It was worse than the marginal performance out of our 72 Dart sedan.

    Very nice ride. Brings back good memories. My folks bought a new 1974 Dart SE and had it shipped to RAF Lakenheath. I got my driver's 1984 in the Dart. A few years later it took me to college. Miss that car!

      The 318 was the way to go, and especially with the 4bbl carb. With the 4bbl, no catalytic converter, at least in Canada. Much better performance, but at least as importantly, much lower fuel consumption than the six.

      @MrZdvy 2 года назад

      @@michaeltutty1540 Basically all 318 engines had a 2 barrel carb, only some truck and cop xars in the late ‘70s had a 318 with a 4 barrel carb. No way it got better mileage than a small six with a one barrel carb. That doesn’t make any sense.

    This how Chrysler used to built every one of their vehicles with solid engineering, reliability, durability, and value for money. They continued that tradition until 1974.
    Starting in 1975, with the exception of the A, C, M, Y115, B Vans & LX bodies, ( Dart, Valiant, Gran Fury, Royal Monaco, Town and Country, 82, 83 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue, the 84 to 89 5th Avenue, the 77 to 89 Dodge Diplomat, 84 to current Caravan/Grand Caravan, Plymouth Voyager/ Grand Voyager, the full size Van's from 1972 to 2003 and their 2005 to 2021 Charger, 300 and Challenger, Chrysler vehicles in general have been unreliable.
    The other vehicles that were made by Chrysler and were reasonably durable and reliable were the 89 to 95 Spirit, Acclaim & 88 to 94 Sundance and Shadow. The 99 to 2004 300m were reasonably reliable as well as the 2000 to 2004 Concorde. The Durango, Dakota ( with the exception of 2005 to 2009 generation)and Ram 1500 are reasonably reliable as well.
    Their unreliable vehicle list reads like a novel and that began with the 1976 Volare and Aspen. The 75 to 79 b bodies, which were the Cordoba and Charger, the 79 to 81 R bodies, the St.Regis, New Yorker 5th Avenue, and Gran Fury; the 80 to 83 J and Y bodies which were the Cordoba, Mirada and Imperial ( which was only produced from 81 to 83); the 81 to 89 K Cars and most of its derivatives, such as the 82 to 86 Lebaron, 400, 600, 84
    to 93 New Yorker, 90 to 93 New Yorker 5th Avenue and Imperial, 88 to 93 Dynasty, the L body which were the 78 to 90 Omni and Horizon; 82 to 88 Charger; 87 to 94 Lebaron coupe; 85 to 88 Lebaron GTS; Dodge Lancer; 84 to 93 Daytona and 84 to 89 Laser.
    The other cars and I won't go by year unless to specify certain models.
    Here are the other unreliable Chrysler vehicles:
    Intrepid, LHS, 93 to 98 Concorde, and 93 to 97 NewYorker. Jeeps from 93 onwards.
    Neon, PT Cruiser, Caliber,
    Cirrus, Stratus, Breeze and 200.
    Sebring.
    The Dodge Rams 2500 and 3500 are not reliable; That goes the same for just the 2009 to present Ram 2500 and 3500. Chrysler 's truck division is now known as Ram, instead of Dodge.
    The old Pacifica was very unreliable as well.
    The Pacifica minivan from 2017 is still too new to tell but the reliability doesn't seem encouraging from early reports.
    Now, many of these unreliable Chrysler may have served you well but you are the exception.
    Likewise, many of the cars that on the reliable list , may have not been reliable for you. Maintenance by the owner is the biggest contributor to a vehicle's reliability.
    The reliable and unreliable vehicles on this list have been researched over a period of 30 as I have been a Mopar man pretty much all his life.
    But I am not afraid to say it like it is and I hope it will help you if you plan to buy one these cars. Of course, your due diligence will be the biggest factor when you purchase a car.

    We had a mid-level model it was a nice metallic blue with a black vinyl top a bit of trim cloth and vinyl interior AC the 318 which had plenty Gulf power my sister ended up with it eventually and she traded it for a loaded Corolla I always thought very highly of the dark we had a Plymouth valiant before that pretty much barebones it had wheel covers and some trim and AM radio slant six and automatic the gas mileage was really good on that car it was a 69

    These were beloved by taxi companies in the us because of their rugged reliability and simple slant sixes. Did not change much from 1967 to 1976 because there was no reason to.

    Dodge Dart and a number of derivatives (Charger, Magnum, Le Baron) were produced by Chrysler do Brasil from 1969 until 1981 (already under Volkswagenwerke ownership in the final years). The sole engine was the 318 LA V8.

    Rarely seen, that's a nice one, and I'd swear that was the brochure color too - rich looking. Interestingly they made a few more of the 6's than the V-8's, and a few more of the Valiant Broughams than the Darts. A good attempt at going after the Granada class of upmarket compacts then appearing, but the A bodies didn't get the power assists that Granada and the GM X bodies did starting in 1975 - rectified with the Aspen/Volare the following year.

    Had me a few of these. In the last year or so, Chrysler put the fancy cosmetic touches on what was a pretty basic car. Lots of 70s velour, but at heart, it was still basic. No A/C (it was a factory option, but the vents hung below the dash like an aftermarket device - they never bothered to integrate the vents into the dash - i guess it was too expensive to bother to redesign). And no electric windows (no Darts or Valiants ever had them - so really, how do you sell this as a luxury car?)

    Original export car, metric speedometer (a few years before Canada went metric and everything became dual-scale)! I assume the rear turn signals are where the backup lights are on home-market cars and it predates ECE requirements for a reverse (or for that matter rear fog) light?

    • @dodgestregis8455
      @dodgestregis8455  3 года назад +2

      It is an original export car. Canadian built. The back up lights are intact. Holland does not require amber turn signals per se. Car was ordered new at local Simca dealer that also had some American Chryslers. Darts and Valiants were popular for their size and reliability. But hardly ever lasted over 10 years due to rust issues.

      Rear fog light is mandatory by the way but got smashed some years ago.

      Not really no, I must say that ventilation on these is top notch. You can just open a little door below the dash and outside air rushes in.
