very sound decision to make the wing spar from a single carbon tube. It works great! the most simple, light and practical method which takes all of the stress types into consideration. Nice build!
Marko, thanks! I've done quite a bit of "poor man's prepreg" but I didn't know the double sided tape trick. And sometimes, especially when laying up on mandrels, I had the laminate shift inside the bag and wrinkle. It looks like the tape solves that problem, so thanks so much, I will surely try that some day:) Also, I use chopped CF in my resin as you did, but when I don't need ultimate strength I mix in microballoons. You can make a really, really lightweight putty this way that I suspect would still be strong enough for a lot of your uses.
Great work and a beautiful model. I'm looking forward to seeing the first flight. A tip about the antenna on your Futaba transmitter (12:14): The best radiation is at 90 degrees to the direction of the rod. Therefore, always bend the transmitter antenna to the side at the joint and don't leave it standing straight up.
Ich kann es auch kaum erwarten, es fertig zu sehen, nur leider sieht man dann nicht den schönen filigranen Flächenbau. Aber mit Sicherheit sieht bzw. kann man es erahnen. Toll einfach klasse umgesetzt. Du verstehst was von Modellbau.
I've had some problems with some of those switch assemblies myself. Found if I pry them open and re-solder the connections fixes the issues, not enough solder to make it all the way through the plated through holes of the PCB. Then seal the back-plate back on the switch with copper safe silicone.
Criticize you? Anyone that would criticize you, clearly has not followed your builds! There is NOTHING I have seen you do that is anything but perfection and anyone that would criticize you is just jealous!
I'm looking all of your Projects from beginning your RUclips Channel, i build also Models in size Maximum 1:2 Scale but allsome Wood, your Work with resinparts is awesome.looking Forward for the covering Video of this Beautiful Carbon Dream Cup😉 Greetings Timo from Germany
you may know that a scale-accurate model of a J3 is a 'stodgy' flier; because the wing area is excessive. a clipped-wing version is a more agile design.
it is the opposite of smart to use Multiple Heavy CF spars in a wing.!!! why.? because, they make the wing EXTRA heavy and their outboard-located mass increases roll-axis instability.!!!

Love to see your work. You have great workshop and tools, do a room tour and tools review please..
Marko, thanks!

Why are you laminating carbon and glass together? Just only to get material thickness? From the point of Young's Modulus that ist not very effective.
11 kg or 11 lbs?
11kg
you may know that when a model has an engine, servos MUST be installed with vibration damping components.

stoopid excessive use of heavy CF has increased the model's auw.
Awesome! Can't wait to see it finished!!
