    My father worked on the ATF program in the 80s. The picture at 2:09 has been framed on my wall since I was a kid, 87' or 88'. He brought it home from his office at Kirkland AFB. I've never seen that image anywhere else... so cool. Keep it flying.

      Phase out older planes like the f15 and f16. Only keep the f22 by having a mix of cheaper downgraded f22, regular f22 and more expensive upgraded f22 when needed.

      Upgrade all fighters. F16: cheap, dependable, deadly maneuverability. F:15 definitely top dog of all fighters and has been upgraded (ex version). F-22: worth the price for freedom

    The long-awaited reveal of the upgraded F-22 Raptor is a thrilling milestone for aviation enthusiasts and defense experts alike. This cutting-edge fighter jet, with enhanced stealth, speed, and advanced combat systems, solidifies the F-22’s place as a dominant force in air superiority and showcases America's continued aerospace innovation.

    Why did I read we only have 149 of these in service. Then I read they stop producing these this is the best fighter plane in the world and we quit making these confusing to me I know the expense is a lot more than making an f-15 in an F-16 upgrade to today's technology but I would think we would have a hell of a lot more f-22s dominating The heirs what's f-35s?

    • @jamarplunkett3283
      @jamarplunkett3283 3 дня назад +2

      The upgrades that they’re giving the F-22 is the same thing that makes the F-35 an absolute beast. The F-22 has really good maneuverability and stealth, but lacks the F-35’s electronic capabilities. The F-35 has good stealth and electronics, but are not as maneuverable as the F-22. And the reason they stop producing the F-22 is because there was no need to produce allot. Soviet Union collapsed, China wasn’t as powerful, and most of their Middle East enemies didn’t have big enough Air Force for this to be effective.
      And 195 F-22 was produced, but they scrapped some to make sure there was enough spare parts for the remaining fleet.
      Even now if we are to believe that the F-22 has a K/D of 2:1 against other stealth planes. ( their actual K:D is absolutely higher). Then 150 F-22’s are more than enough for Chinas j20. And that doesn’t even account for the f-35’s we have or the fact that the F-22’s K/D will go up when facing less stealthy 4th gen fighters.

    According to Gen. Michael Hostage (USAF), the F-35 has a smaller classified RCS than the F-22 Raptor. It also has much more modern avionics and the engine and provides much better situational awareness. In this situation, it is up to the USAF to decide if it wants to invest further in the Raptor.

  • @markbrisec3972
    @markbrisec3972 2 дня назад

    I think we're looking at the last, twin engine, manned, stealth and freaking cool looking fighter jet in USAF history... I'm aware that the F-35 is newer but that bird doesn't have 2 engines and isn't as cool looking as the Raptor, despite being even deadlier...
    Despite the fact that the NGAD program to develop the 6th gen fighter jet for USAF, to replace the Raptor, has been put to hold to reevaluate the requirements (size, number of engines, price), this next generation aircraft will fly somewhere in the mid 2030s, but it most definitely won't be such a great looking fighter jet like the Raptor. Owing to the fact that NGAD will cherish stealth and potentially speed, over maneuverability, it will look more like the elongated flying wing than as something we would automatically recognize as the air superiority platform.. Those high G maneuvers that were expected from the fighter jet for the last 60 years or so, will become completely unnecessary given that the future a2a missiles will be almost impossible to evade.
    So bow to the King, bow to the Raptor - the best exclusively manned air superiority fighter jet in history.

    PS. Raptor doesn't mean reptile. A raptor is a bird of prey like hawks, falcons and eagles. You might be getting confused with the dinosaur "velociraptor". I am sure it was not their intent to call it a dinosaur and considering it is supposed to be a replacement for the Eagle and Falcon I think I might be closer to the mark. Just saying. I enjoy your content but some research on the basics would go a long way. Referring to it as a reptile kept distracting me and diminished the enjoyment. Cheers.
