In 1978 while browsing the music department at a Sears, I grabbed a cassette with BB King's image on the front. I took a chance with my meager cash and took it home to listen to. It blew my mind and I have not been able to stop listening to him since. Unbelievable rhythm, crazy guitar that won't allow you to stay still. RIP King! And thank you for the gift that never gets old.
You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he lived. You can close your eyes and wish it wasn't true or you can open your eyes and see all he's left. What a gift to our souls is the music of Mr. Riley B King.
@@ayushmanbhalla8737 BB couldn't play slide for crap but he had a 1st cousin named Bukka White that played amazing slide (with very similar vibrato) and BB loved the sound . BB tried to approximate Bukka's slide vibrato with his fingers, and the Legendary BB King Vibrato was born.
Just the tone of that Lucille is so incredible and beautiful. Sweet is the sound of Lucille she had to be a beautiful woman in this life time. RIP B.B. and Lucille, nobody could love and squeeze Lucille like B.B. did she only known the arms and hands of B B King.
Here's a tale of Johnny Rotten..Better to burn out than fade away. So sayeth Neil Young (Heh heh, my my). Doesn't mean you have to burn out soon. BB burned until the end. May his memory be for a blessing.
He created his own little funky scale. The BB King Box and never looked back or for anything else. He found perfection and twisted those notes into an infinity of expressed subtle siren calls. While other guitarists mow us down with machine gun riffs and blazing tour de force playing BB coaxed us into his happy world with a scale fragment. That’s the miracle of music!
I love the way how he play his music. He so awesome, I love his music I miss him on the stage sing the blues. One of the best blues ever, God bless his soul may he rest in peace.

It didn't matter to me because I was always old enough, lol! As fate would go, a lady who'd taken care of a few younger brothers of mine, for a year or so, was there at my house & we talked a lot. He died two weeks after his best friend and private physician (my grandfather) committed suicide and was unable to attend the funeral because of his health. Guess the news got to his health. Thanksgiving won't be the same without you for the McGhee family B.B.! We love you! Hope you and peepaw are jamming out!!!! Rest In Peace in the hands of the Father!
I would like to salute concert promoter Bill Graham for cross pollinating contemporary music with his line ups at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Without his mixing of the genres many of us would simply not have been "turned on" to the blues by the originals like B B King. (Ken Burns episode on the Blues showed footage of B B and his men arriving at the Fillmore. He thought he was in the wrong place with all the hippies surrounding the place. Graham came out to the limo and welcomed him with open arms into the venue... the rest is history.)
See what folk don't realise or at least recognize is not only did this gentleman (god bless his soul) influence the entire British blues generation, not only was he a genius player but he was also a GODLIKE singer. In fact, I may be shot for this, but his singing in his prime was greater than the sum of all his parts as an artist. And that is saying something!!!

I'd almost forgotten what a great singer BbKing was. We focus so much on his guitar playing.
Think about it, he never sang and played at the same time.He would say that guitar is his voice.
BB was so cool
Not to be confused

BB King never used pedals or computer interface crap ... just guitar into a Fender super reverb . No drugs or alcohol . He was also a pilot .
R.I.P. BB King and Happy Black History Month 2024! Gone but never forgotten. Shot out to my late Father in Law , He loved your music.

Lucky to be at his 80th birthday gig, bb King club, nyc, second row, the most wonderful concert, EVER !!

No one hit the tonic like the king
He could make an entire solo using just that note and his majestic vibrato would make it sound epic
BB knew better than anybody that the notes you don't play are at least as important as the ones you do.
