A dear friend asked me to consider this Peter Gabriel song. I gave it a listen and was just floored. It’s as relevant today as it was the day it was written. Compassion and empathy for all my brothers and sisters is always relevant. Our friend Rebekah Del Rio sings so beautifully and and with so much passion. I get schooled every time I hear her sing. She inspires me and I love her very much.

My Dad suffers from severe depression, one of his favorite musical artists is Peter Gabriel. I was ecstatic when I saw a new video featuring, "Don't Give Up". Thank you Puddles, it was amazing both you and Rebekah Del Rio's performance, and so wonderful to see my Dad have a genuine smile on his face. Does not happen often.

Oh dear Mr. Puddles, the universe has a way of communicating through the beautiful sounds of music. As I came home today with a heavy heart, i just had to sit awhile, and, there you were. My brother and I had a way of communicating through music, and with him being murdered last week, I feel he was telling me to weep later and continue to fight for his justice. He deserves this much from this side. He was giving me the strength not to give up. Thank you sir😔

Several years ago, I was going through some very hard times. I'd listen to this song and almost lose my shit. It was so raw, so emotional and touching. I didn't think that anyone could cover it and do it justice... until Puddles. And Rebekah. Thank you.

Don't give up and Red rain. Still the two most powerful songs from Gabriel IMO and so underrated. Don't give up helped me through some of my worst depression episodes. I just lost my mother and am working through it. Thank you for covering it.
Edit: going to the original. there are so many similar stories from when the song was young to just a few days ago. This is one of those truly powerful songs that comes along once a generation and changes (saves) lives in ways most people never realize.

This one is touching my soul hard today. This is so beautifully done and I'm in tears for the hundredth time today. We lost a very beloved family friend this morning. Someone who helped raise and shape our teenage son into the fine young man he has grown into. A "bonus grandfather" who spent many hours rocking him to sleep as an infant and has been there to support him through every achievement and milestone. My heart is completely crushed and I have to find the right words to break the news to him after school.

Puddles you keep impressing me, this particular song is one of my favorites from Peter Gabriel when my mom died and I was alone thinking of her this song came on and gave me comfort as though my mom was speaking to me, your version did not disappoint as always you cannot make a bad version of your own hearing you gave me comfort the same way as Peter’s did but actually more clearly keep up the clown look and emotions it never gets old.
The emotion carried by these two (let alone the vocals) is compelling.
I have something I need to confess. When I initially clicked onto this video, I thought to myself, "she's no Kate Bush, how will this turn out?" .. But time and again, my doubts are wiped away by the emotion brought by the song and it's singers. The Spanish verses were AMAZINGLY DONE! I loved the interpretation! I loved everything about it and I applaud you for making me rethink originals v covers. I wish I had the strength and bravery to do what you do. I sing only when I'm alone now. But lately I also find myself watching you and singing right along, someone in the room or not. Thank you. Thank you for bringing the absolute love of song back into my life. This is an amazing cover. I always thought that this song was a perfect depiction of depression, grief of any sort and/or personal loss. Looking for familiar things where they may not exist anymore and feeling isolated. But there is always someone there to help if you are able to reach out. A loved one, a friend, or even a stranger. The hardest thing sometimes is seeing these people over the seemingly impossibly thick cloud around you, but they are there. Don't give up, we are proud of who you are!
