I am highly impressed with the new GUI design. The previous knob colors were extremely unappealing, but now this unit resembles a limited edition Distressor.
very good thing the new one. I have both, XStressor and now without any extra fees from Plugin-Alliance the XTComp. Must try it out to compare both models from Kiive. First I have seen is the choice between three knee-curves. If there are other differences in the praxis I will test. Merci to PA and Kiive for the free new XTComp for every one like me who has bought XTressor last year at Plugin-Alliance!
After comparing the two manuals, the main discernible differences other than graphical changes is they added a Knee control (Hard, Normal, Soft), and changed the word at the bottom row from 'XTRESSOR MODE' to 'XTCOMP MODE'. So functionally, the main new feature seems to be Knee controls for harder snappier compression or softer more transparent compression. Recent email sent out also says "Kiive Audio has improved the general sound of the plugin, bringing it even closer to its inspiration" so maybe there are some under the hood improvements as well.
So, once I noticed the Xtressor was discontinued, I installed the new version XTComp and I’m afraid it behaves and sounds completely different from the Xtressor, which was my favorite plugin and one of PA best plugins. For example a 10:1 ratio on the old one is now equivalent to 3:1 on the new one. Even the modes sound completely different. The nice body I got on the snare and toms in the old one is now gone. I’m struggling hard to get them to sound the same, but still hopeful. The Xtressor was perfect. Not cool Kiieve. You had the best Distressor plugin emulation. Why would you do this?
Last night this guy came to my dreams with this exact smile in the thumbnail. He whispered in my ears, "We're going to give you all our plugins for free." I cried ecstatically in my sleep like a little female dog that I am. I even peed a little. Woke up. Told myself, "dream on!" Cried again, this time for a completely different reason.
Xtressor is gone from the PA License Manager, so what do I do if I need to reinstall? Do I need to buy it once more, or will my license for Xtressor also work for XTComp?
Hi, is the Kiive Audio "Xtressor" included in the XTComp or is this a different type of compression? ... regarding the fact, that the Xtressor is unavailable now at Plugin Alliance ...
You will find that with the XTComp, some visual elements have changed, some features were added, and the emulation is closer to the behaviour of the hardware that inspired the plugin. All users of the previous version are entitled to a free upgrade to the Kiive Audio XTComp. If you can't find our email on how to proceed, please reach out to our customer support: support.plugin-alliance.com/hc/en-us/categories/10092652316445-Installation-and-Activation
I think it's time to start fixing some of the stuff like updating plugins, silicon compatibility and fixing the pa installer application instead of pumping out new products constantly..
Our plugins have been compatible with M-series Macs for quite some time. Please check out the Installation Manager for updates and make sure you're running the latest versions: www.plugin-alliance.com/en/installation-manager.html
Name changed and knobs made black because ELI thought both encroached on their copyright. Kiive said there are a few added features too, though not had a proper look to see what they are yet.
There are other differences under the hood too - phase is totally different, as is the saturation. It would be nice to have a full changelog tbh just so people know what to expect.
Can you guys please please make a Better SSL Comp for Mastering.......Please send that up the Pipeline....Townhome is great for Drums but you guys need something like a Sta;m Audio type plugin...that can be a SSL G or SSL G as 2 Channel Bus Compressor Plugin.....2 Signal Channels with Widner option would make it better for mastering opposed to the Townhome Comp.......and make it sound more open but punchy...thats the ssl Sound...Open, Punchy and slighty saturated..... I hope this helps you guy...come up with a better Mastering SSL Comp

The answer was yes. I see it in my account lpl

I still think the Xtressor sounds better. XT Comp sounds different but I wouldn't say better
@@bangubw736can you elaborate? How is it different?
A new compressor every 5 days. What a time to be alive.
except it's not exactly new, it's a reskin of the xtressor
Do a cl1b version!!! Take my money

Couldn’t agree more
best soft distressor!!!!
The saturation knob is lowkey the best
where is external sidechain?
I am surprised you never spoke about the opto mode settings on this..

Love this
It does sound really decent

PA will be sending you info for installing the new version if you owned the original! Hit up their support if it doesn't show up soon! 💚

I hate how this sounds compared to the xpressor thank god pirates still have it
Yeah...this definately woth purchasing
So how was this different form the Xtressor? Is it just a gui change because it looked too much like the hardware?
Btw is this included in the mega bundle already? Because I have an active plan but its in demo mode. Thanks!
same for me, im mega L user but demo mode @@TIMV5151
Thinking the same thing. Use the xTressor and it feels very similar
XTComp has been added to the MEGA Plan at no extra cost.

Its quit good thoe

As far as I can tell the only added feature is the "knee" selector (Hard, Norm, Soft), but honestly prefer the darker knobs on this anyway
