Great video! It does sound like Seal around 18:56. Also it sounds like the pad in Yoko Kanno's "Space Lion", which I have been trying to get for sometime. Looking forward to checking out your other videos. Thank you!
Great job on creating great pad. Exactly what I was looking for. I have watched so many reviews on the Hydrasynth sounds but I didn't hear the type of sounds I would use on a track. Lots of ambient and spacey stuff but not useable for me. You're sounds are exactly what I would use on a track. I haven't purchased the Hydrasynth yet but now I know that I can get the type of sounds I'm looking for from the Hydrasynth. Thank you! Liked and Subscribed.
Hey man, awesome video. I just recently picked up the Hydrasynth Explorer and love it. In fact so much so I'm getting the Hydrasynth Keys in a few weeks. You are one of the few cats on YT that can get this synth to sound warm and very analogish !!! 😂 If you could make some videos on how you specifically get that warm buttery smooth sound like the pad patch in this video that would be grand and also if you could give me some info on how to purchase the patches from you Ignition series that would be 💯. Cheers !!! 🥂
I was having trouble getting any deadlines except my regular tuba street performances. That's why I bought myself a Hydra (my 2nd hw synth after the micro freak last year). I can also recommend getting your Ignition patch collections, good showoff! Tomorrow I have to do some loops for video scoring for a hairdresser. All internet production. I'll grab my fieldrecorder and record cutting my son's hair. I'll throw them into Ableton clips, find a tempo and then play around with combined step lfos on the Hydra... Greetings from Vienna!
Great video, you've got me inspired to start doing HP type pads, never tried this really. Is part 2 out yet? Would love to explore the deeper dive. Also what did you end up doing with the separate pitch LFOs on each oscillator?
Hi, I've learned a lot with your videos and wanted to say thanks! Do you have a course available for the hydrasynth or synthesis in general. I want to start making the sounds in my head lol.
I was waiting for the LFO per Oscillator, which you said you would do second (after AllOsc LFO). Can you do a "Make HS sound Analogue" tricks video. Thanks for all so far :)
Great. For me the Hydra can produce great sounds but you have to work for them. Especially smoother pads. Too many presets are too glassy as they they are.
Im having a hard time understanding the stereo macro setup. It looks like you have 2 macros setup for panning the 2 osc left and right in equal amounts but then I dont see how those get connected to a single macro on the front page
Me personally I would (I did) opt for the 49 key. It's easier to lug around. all space used. The hydrasynth for me was the most limitless hardware synth in terms of routing, which means the amount of time spent on each patch ranged from 30 minutes to 4 hours. Completing a patch or finding the sweet spot is rewarding. Now imagine having to come up with something to pair with that sound that just sort of developed through experimentation or even just blind luck. It dampens the thrill and reward, because now you have a sound you need to pair with it, or layer with it. Most times I never felt like doing that. Just zero motivation to. In studio I do one layer at a time, chop it up to the audio parts I want, etc etc. Seldom am I ever using both layers in a production where midi is sent to both. So much extra work. Not alot of reward for me. Hydra for me always made for one great layer on a track (aside from just being my go-to enjoyment / entertainment synth). The more edgy "sound" / crisp tone to it always cut itself a lane in a track, but as soon as I ever added another from Hydra, things didn't sound too good. The sonic characteristics seem "harsh" and almost hallow sometimes, even after EQ and compression. But nothing comes close to the inspiration I'd get from playing sequences to get track riff and foundation ideas. Here's an example of a preset used in Ignition 2. I think it was Fly by Wire that I used for a remix back in 2021. Turned out great, Here's preset: ruclips.net/video/63nEaCd-Vhw/видео.htmlsi=XwTtFvh_XheAxlkk&t=1829 Here's the track: soundcloud.com/jameshigh/remix2-riley?si=98f926d1a4ea4056aa291507fb82351b&
so far in all the HYDRASYNTH tutorial vids ,nobody explains exactly what the GLIDE button does, I've had the synth for over a month now and still cant figure out what it does, it lights up but that's about it, I don't hear any change in the ribbon control and it doesn't open up any menu, so far it just seems just like a useless button that just lights up
The Glide functions can be found in the Voice Menu. Glide is also known as Portamento, which is the more common name. If you watch videos on Synth Portamento, you'll find out what Glide does.
@@SuchaDoofus not really. It’s just that one is extremely useful and the other extremely expensive. Maybe that would be hard to admit for some people 😅
A walkthrough on how to create a Macro for the stereo spread would be helpful (especially if it's for beginners), thank you.

19:00 That’s what I was waiting for.
So all you did was add a 24 DB filter over the same patch that you’ve been working on?
OMG best notification possible this morning...... I’m a new owner thank you so much Major!!! 🙏
I’m fucking happy....
Big salut from France 🙋♂️
Vinz.
Just got my Hydrasynth Explorer!! Loving it so far :)
Thanks for the informed, intentional, and deliberate content. Cheers!

Great tutorial only thing I ask is slow down you button punches I'm haveing a hard time keeping up lol a 70 year old man here.
Nice, just got mine on Friday! Keep them coming!
You should check out ignition dude. :)
Just got the Hydra a few days ago, appreciate the tutorial
Me too!!! I love this machine
Are you selling the presets for all the pads you made? Really sounding great almost oberheim on steroids.
I don’t have the HydraSynth but I’m here for the tutorial! :)
Thank you for helping me build my first patch from scratch!
Sounds beautiful and very thick.

Hope future hydrasynth owners are welcome too! Holding out for the possibility of a cyber monday deal
Of course :)

Man thanks for these amazing tips! Looking forward to diving in with these techniques!

We are were. like I said, there’s a serious case of attention deficit disorder going on. He veered off like 25 times.😂

I have the desktop and I noticed that going through presets everything so present and sharp and metallic sounding.

nvm I figured it out
This my new favorite thing
majorosc link didn't work for me.

Hi, MajorOSC, can you tell me if I should get the Hydrasynth Deluxe as opposed to the "standard" Hydrasynth? Thanks!

amen to the useless pad if. attack too long... you've got the midas touch
Cool stuff. I’m new hydra synth desktop.
“Expanding to drums”
Can you explain?
Still waiting for the lfos on each oscillator lol.
Very good info , thanks!
Did you use the Hydrasynth for the intro? Jeeze!
Yes
You’re not going “new owners” speed 😅
So you sold the Super Six and kept the Hydrasynth. I don't know if many people would come to those kinds of terms with their own truth.
Lol. Are you for real?
@@SuchaDoofus not really. It’s just that one is extremely useful and the other extremely expensive. Maybe that would be hard to admit for some people 😅
Bladerunner
Might be some useful info here but the presentation style makes it unwatchable for me!
Glad you told us bud
