Great video, sold me on the hydra desktop, tried it in person a couple months ago and was on the fence since it felt like it was locked in the cold digital sound but this is such a wildly different feel, and the build quality is great
I wasn’t keen on most of the presets it came with, just wasn’t suitably for my taste and genres that I make. Typhon on the other hand, whoever made those stock presets knows how to sell a synth with preset design ✅ Hydra is great though it can get to some amazing sweet spots and wacky patches!
Lovely. Making the HS sound wild (ie. radically evolving sounds) is somewhat 'easy', but making it sound warm and subtle is a bit harder. You nailed it, so thanks for laying out the path. I think I'll make an 'init pad'-patch like this one for future use. Thanks!
There is always a simpler way! Thanks :) I think theres a few apps out there too, I do like popping in the bpm and then having all the options listed. A student told me theres a max4live plugin that sits in your project and tells you all the ms options too!
@@jamesorvis_mixhackers more than one way to skin a cat :) I mostly write in the same BPM range, 143-146 and knowing that 1/16 is roughly 100ms is enough for me in most cases. If I need to get really precise I'll use a calculator but it's not a bad thing if a delay time or pre-delay is just a touch off-the-grid!
My only grip is you can't upload your own waveform. And the way wavetable is implemented, uh meh. I would prefer the traditional way and the possibility to import your own. But it's a beast nonetheless. It gonna have a place with the Virus TI in the synth pantheon!
Ace 🙏 Just what I was looking for!
I turned on "random fez" on my Hydrasynth... now my music room is filled with funny hats!
Happened many times in here, ive had to purchase a hat rack
im so freaking excited to get this in my mailbox next week
Have fun!!
Hire this man!
That’s nice to listen to (voices of the synth, voice of the artist)!
🙏
Love the courses, thank you for these, have you done any ethereal pad courses , I would love to see an ambient pad tutorial. Thank you so much!
Not yet! But I may it’s a good idea 🙏
Great in depth video on how best to wrestle a warm, undulating tone from an icy, clinical initialised patch. 10/10 you done it again 🔊
Thanks mate 🍻
Thankfully so much for these more in depth tutorials, I’ve just found your course thank you 🙏 I look forward to learning more
Good to hear! Glad you find it all useful :)
@JAMES ORVIS I feel like going deeper then I found your brilliant tutorials for dummies like me no doubt ill even revisit, asm should give you a job 😉

Cool tips!
Glad you like them!
15:09 60,000 / BPM = 1/4 in ms . No need for charts, just use your phone/computer's calculator :)

I agree to be fair, would love to upload custom waveforms like I can with serum
Then buy an analog poly synth? Never liked a hydrasynth.
Buy both 🪄 Digital synthesis has its perks for sure, and learning how to mimic what makes a sound warm and analog is never a bad thing
