They call it lobbying. ആഴ്ചയിൽ രണ്ടു ദിവസം ആളുകളെ തോക്ക് വെച്ച് കൂട്ടക്കൊല ചെയ്താലും gun control കൊണ്ട് വരാൻ പറ്റാത്തത് അത് കൊണ്ടാണ്. ഇന്ത്യയെ compare ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ 100 ഇരട്ടി മെച്ചമാണ് though
വളരെ ശരി ആണ് പക്ഷെ ഇതൊക്കെ അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നവർ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയതാല്പര്യങ്ങളും ഇല്ലാത്ത കോമൺ സെൻസ് ഉള്ള കുറച്ചു പേര് മാത്രം ആണേ അല്ലാത്തവർ വന്ന് ന്യായീകരിച്ചു മെഴുക്കും

@Numer നിങ്ങളുടെ ഈ തെറ്റായ ധാരണയാണ് മാറേണ്ടത്. Plastic എങ്ങിനെ തിന്നാൻ പറ്റും. Waste dispose ചെയ്യാൻ place ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ ആളുകൾ അത് വലിച്ചെറിയും. അല്ലാതെ തിന്നാൻ പറ്റില്ലാലോ. Government ലേക്ക് നമ്മൾ tax കൊടുക്കുന്നത് ഇതൊക്കെ ചെയ്യാൻ ആണ് എന്നിട്ട് അവർ അത് ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. എവിടെ waste ഇടരുത് എന്ന് പറയുന്നുണ്ട് പക്ഷെ പകരം എവിടെ ഇടണം എന്ന് പറയുന്നില്ല.

ഇതിവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരില്ല കൊണ്ട് വന്നാലും ആരും അനുസരിക്കില്ല... ഉദാഹരണത്തിനു സിറ്റികളിലെ പല ടീ ഷോപ്പിന്റെ മുൻപിലെ ഏതെങ്കിലും സൈഡിൽ പേപ്പർ ഗ്ലാസ്‌, പ്ലേറ്റ് ഇടാനുള്ള ഒരു പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് വീപ്പ കാണും അതിൽ ഗ്ലാസ്‌ ഇടാതെ ദൂരെ വലിച്ചു എറിയാൻ ആണ് എല്ലാവർക്കും ഇഷ്ടം... ബീച്ചുകളിൽ വേസ്റ്റ് ബിൻ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും തീരത്തു വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞു കളഞ്ഞു വൃത്തികേട് ആക്കും... സ്വച്ഛ് ഭാരത് മിഷൻ ഒക്കെ കടലാസ്സിൽ മാത്രം...
ഒരു ജനത അർഹിക്കുന്ന ഗവണ്മെന്റ് നെ ആണ് അവർക്കു കിട്ടുക.... 😊😊😊

താങ്കൾ കാണിച്ചത് നല്ല കാര്യം.... ഇനി ഇതിന്റെ പേരും പറഞ്ഞു പഠിക്കാൻ കുറെ ഇറങ്ങി തിരിക്കും... ഇവിടെ ഒന്നും നടക്കില്ല ഭായ്....
Its same here in India also , same number of bins and procedure.. Here it goes...
Example Bangalore city: Three coloured + 1 for medical and surgical stuff.. Since Indian brains are hallucinated, every morning we get confused with each color and without discrimination, we put all kind of wastes in all the bins. Person in aprtment A1 assumes Green is for food waste, A2 assumes its for plastic. and so on.. So in the morning, our Municipality trucks comes with ultra modern machines, adding their "expertise" dump all the bins in same chamber in the single truck.
So finally the trucks go somewhere where villagers who have not yet started protests, and dump everything mixed in some farm lands.
This cycle coninues till the villagers start protesting and block the trucks, then our AI based system choose another remote village where the people are sleeping still.
You said it mate ! Until and unless these Indian Human beings doesn't grow the mindset they are not going to be the same as the ones in the United States

I think, initial collection is where we make a big blunder. By designating different trucks for different types of waste, they make sure to avoid any tendency for the truck driver to mix it up to increase weight. In Kerala, evenif every household segregates waste at origin, as long as the truck gets a chance to mix these waste together to increase weight, they will mix it all together. Having a separate day and vehicle for plastic collection could atleast fix that issue.

We have lot of ministers who go to other countries and study their technology without understanding the pros , cons, maintenance cost and maintenance itself of the technology and what can be done in case something goes wrong. Second point is that there are whole lot of shops everything from grocery to restaurants generating waste and I believe in Kerala only few comes under the corporation only .. but rest of them rely on private waste dumpers, who dump waste any where they like. Their main motto is to dump waste .. be it water bodies / rural areas.
See, this works because of the cooperation of the people too. They diligently segregate the waste making it easy for it's processing.
Most of our people would oppose if such a system was introduced here with 3 bins and all. Even in the very few places which has waste segregation as a policy most of the people don't give a damn.
So, if we are to have such effective systems we as citizens have to do our part first!
In trivandrum city area, 2 waste bin are given every household to separate plastic and bio waste. It is limited, still successfully going on . Yes, there are a lot of drawbacks with our system and people. But the change have to come from every individual.

Thank you for your timely answer for our waste management problem. But in kerala, this will not be implemented because the politicians cannot make money. Our problem is corruption. Kerala is a hopeless place.
People here responsible for waste management also know these things. But they are reluctant to implement due to reasons known to all of us. In Dubai all waste can be together dumped in the big waste bins kept at road side and no need for segregation. They are promptly clearing these bins and transferring to lorries through automated system. Dont know how they are segregating it in the dumping yard, definitely they have a highly advanced system. In Australia, the same system as that of US prevails.
It is possible in India. The fund management and automation one of the key aspects.

I think It's not the same across the USA. I lived in the US for a few years. The area where I lived didn't have waste segregation at all. Bio/plastic waste goes into the same bin and probably goes for landfill. And we consumed 10x more plastic than in India. Every grocery shop will bag each item in separate plastic bags(we made conscious decisions of using reusable bags). We should probably look at the Singapore or Japan model of waste management. We have some successful models in India (Indore , Bhopal , Kumbhakonam etc.). Even in Kerala there are programs where women come and collect plastic wastes(at least in our area). I think some organized private players are required in India to make it successful.
In which city? If you live in Apt they may put everything in trash to avoid fine putting trash in recycle.

.Yes, it is pathetic in USA. They also do shady things like exporting plastic to third world and developing countries in Africa and Asia where it rots. China recently banned importing waste from other countries which severely affected many European countries and America. Two big countries that properly does recycling is Germany and Japan.
