I don't know the context for this song, but between the lyrics and the video I get the impression that this is about personal growth, and realizing when you could have done better. Feels like this is about having gone through something difficult and come out the other end with a new understanding of how to be there for those you care about, including taking care of yourself so you can be the best you can be; to literally and figuratively grow as a person (as the video seems to be a metaphor for in my eyes). utterly incredible stuff, I've had this on repeat

For such a young guy who seems to be really grounded he seems to totally get how muddled we can get in our heads and creates great lyrics and sounds to help us all out. I play different songs as pick me ups to get through tough or scary days, they really help. Although someone just painted some shoes with Daði artwork on his tour I could really do with the idea of slipping on some Daði vibe shoes. I’m not a big fan of pop music (jam bands are my fav) but love Daði’s voice so will always check out the new songs. There’s talent, always, but for more crossover applicability (something to listen to regularly, after checking it out, despite lacking instruments), I would rly like to see more of Gagnamagnið. I think there’s huge potential to captivate a wider audience who appreciates Daði’s talent if the songs were to consistently feature the supporting members who bring additional layers of diverse, fun vibes to the music regardless of instrument’s functionality. It’d be best if the prop instruments were functional tho, even if they required v little skill, so they could contribute musically as well as add dif dynamics. I hope this doesn’t come off as a critique. I respect the talent but maybe for an up-and-coming artist, the honest $0.02 could prompt some experimenting with the group that would lead to a wider consistent audience by appealing those who favor music outside of pop - not that there’s anything wrong w/pop. I’m a fan bc of voice :)

Gagnamagnið isn’t a real band!! They were a group consisting of his wife, his sister, a singer and his friends, and they were created just for Eurovision. They didn’t play any real instruments except for backing vocals and keyboard I think??? The rest was Daði :). You could almost consider them as backing dancers tbh
