Thank you Mooji, thank you Francis, thank you Rupert, thanks to Ram Das and Allan Watts and to the internet and to the yin and yang nature that allows technology (the biggest threat to our realization) to also be the greatest chance many of us have got. Thanks to god, and that we are a good god.
14:15 Same thing happened to me when I was 19. I had ZERO knowledge of spirituality or enlightenment at the time. I was sketching in the library and all of a sudden a wonderful relaxation came over me. A feeling which was light, effortless, and effervescent. I felt a confidence and patience with my art I had not felt in years. Drawing for the pleasure of it. Most notable however was this deep feeling of nostalgia that came from within and not from watching old cartoon clips, lol. A feeling of recognition, like, "Of course, I used to be like this all the time as a kid!". It was a causeless peace. I've heard of "free samples" that lasted weeks and months even, but this one lasted less than a day and even that was enough to put me on the path. Now I can consciously find my way back to it.
Thank you for such clarity! I only have discovered your non-duality teachings in recent months. I was such a hindrance to myself and didn't know the names/terms for the experiences that have been with me always and especially in the discovery of it in one of those "open all the blinds and the clouds are gone" experiences in 1988. I can see now that the ladder of lessons of ACIM has brought me to another scaffolding and that my gift has become one that I'm becoming gold light shining through. It helps to know that it's not just some bizarre idiosyncrasy of my "personality". Everything I need to carry along is within and without but I sure would love to come to one of your retreats in order to gather together with everyone who is looking at this. I'm glad I can listen to you here!

How do you define happiness? Is it a hit of dopamine and serotonin? Elation? Peace? Also if it’s recognizing our true nature. I’ve done that. Does that mean I’m liberated? Is it possible to achieve liberation from moment to moment? To say you are liberated FOREVER seems to point to the idea of a permanent self. What seems more reasonable or likely is to shoot for liberation in each moment... thoughts?
I'm watching 7 years later! I would say we are already liberated, our essence is liberated. The problem is we are keeping ourselves in this reality by holding onto the conditioning, the programming. This is not how this reality was supposed to be, it is like a virus.
So its not enough to have a period of abiding in the I-I that's not liberation. Abiding in that is the way to liberation and there won't be anyone wanting some permanent state after that. That's just the flip flop from the I to the i--i and back again.. As Ranana says.. "Therefore, leaving the corpse-like body as an actual corpse and remaining without even uttering the word ‘I’ by mouth, if one now keenly enquires, ‘What is it that rises as ‘I’? then in the Heart a certain soundless sphurana, ‘I-I’, will shine forth of its own accord. It is an awareness that is single and undivided, the thoughts which are many and divided having disappeared. If one remains still without leaving it, even the sphurana - having completely annihilated the sense of the individuality, the form of the ego, ‘I am the body’ - will itself in the end subside, just like the flame that catches the camphor. This alone is said to be liberation by great ones and scriptures"
Recognition, awakening and liberation are three all together different things. Liberation is the complete elimination or dissolution of the ego together with all samskaras and vasanas. This is what Ramana Maharshi and all other great masters have said. Any other interpretation of the term liberation has nothing to do with reality.
This is not a universal comment! Surely words are used by different people as different thins! I understand what you said but you can't be so-dogmatic about words since all they are- at best are pointer to Realty, We have to be flexible, with words... in order to really communicate :)
We are all awareness and awareness is always and ever free from samskara's which are a bunch of vasana's so yes they are powerful, but only powerful if you do not *know* that the I is ever free awareness, and can NEVER be affected in any way in or by these inert structures. Vedanta provides the big-picture and when we look at life from reality-awareness' point of view {the universal view} no - thing - has any power over the 'l' in any way. People who don't know the difference between Satya and Mithya will get confused (through no fault of their own as it is Maya's power* reversing their viewpoint) and believe that samskara's have the power to affect pure awareness. Once we know 'I' *am* unaffected-awareness it is impossible for any object to affect you as you know without doubt that awareness is everything and objects are mithya, they aren't really 'there', as they are only name and form, whatever reality they seem to have is only ever "borrowed" from pure awareness just as the moons light is borrowed for the suns radiance, and whatever their category be it samskara or a chair they can both easily be resolved back into their substrate - me-simple ordinary non volitional-awareness. I as awareness have to be there for anything to appear, this is the actual essence of Moksha-freedom, and if we understand this firmly then that's all she - Maya - wrote, so to speak. *Maya is neither real nor unreal it has a very strange ontological status. Simply put, it is the power of "non-knowing" and when we discover "I am ever-free awareness" and therefore unaffected by objects, avidya or personal ignorance is destroyed in us, and yet universal maya goes on as ignorant jiva's as well as the whole universal order, even though the realized jiva knows itself and the universe to be awareness alone.
Well said sir! Reality is the light, the simple awareness that's completely free of vasana's, as vasana's are known to be totally unreal from awareness perspective, they are mithya - inert subtle matter. If I am consciousness-awareness and consciousness IS, and appearing as everything, then how can a vasana affect me? A vasana is me but I am definitely more than a vasana, I am free.
Ramana says.. This alone is said to be liberation by great ones and scriptures" When someone has come into some lovely state and then feels they've lost it, then I assume they've had a period of abiding in the i-i and returned to the I. Whereas, abiding in the i-i is just the way to liberation.. not libertarian itself As for vasanas.. Shri Datta says in Tipura Rahasya "109-12. The vasanas not inimical to realisation are not weeded out by the best class of Jnanis because they cannot seek new ones to crowd the old out. Therefore the old ones continue until they are exhausted and thus you find among them some highly irritable, some lustful and others pious and dutiful, and so on" According to Shri Datta Vasanas inimical to realization are distrust of the guru and teaching.. Thinking other things are more important than liberation.. imagining fulfillment is elsewhere and so on. However, some vasanas clearly survive liberation.. we just think piety and duty are more acceptable than irritation and lust so don't count them as vasanas.. Yet we know someone like Nisargadatta displayed irritation. So was he not a sage? Of course he was.. hence traditionally its said that you cant judge a jnani by outward behavior. They don't need to fit your image.

You are always aware. You are aware of 'being aware' and 'not being aware'. You appear to be confusing states of mind with awareness.

nothing is permanent in this body. I suspect there will be no more questions when awareness is only that, awareness itself.
