      The only thing that is appearing to stop you from enlightenment/self-realization/eternal life/knowing yourself to be unconditional love is identification with thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences instead of being aware of being aware and knowing yourself to be that unconditional love pure consciousness in which all thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences appear but are not inherently one with you; they are an expression of unconditional love; you are that infinite that is expressing itself as suffering/pleasure but inherently you are neither; you are that nothing/unconditional love/pure consciousness in which they are appear and by which they are perceived;
Suffering/pleasure comes and goes; there is an awareness that is aware of them coming and going; that you are; remember and know what you are; never identify with anything that is appearing within you; since it appears within you; it can't be you; you are that in which it appears. When you abide as that in which it appears instead of identifying; nothing has a grip on you; if anything comes; it quickly goes; like clouds passing; only if you identify as a cloud then it will appear as if the cloud is here for longer than it is originally supposed to; if you simply rest as the awareness and do not identify; it will quickly dissolve; be unconditional love by being aware of being aware; this is the highest; this is what you are seeking in absolutely everything else; you are seeking yourself; you are seeking unconditional love; but you are looking outside of yourself; instead of being aware that you already are unconditional love. Love love

That statement by Rupert caught my attention at once and made an immediate understanding upon me (and others obviously).
Many probable visions occurred not the least of which the idea of going against the flow in a fast moving river vs turning around and going with the flow. Resistance vs allowing. The journey to God (from separation) to living in God (awareness of Oneness).

This video is absolute gold! There is so much here that I will be listening over and over again to take it in. Here are some notes I took while watching:
I am that which is aware of my experience. The nature of awareness is imperturbable peace. Questions to ask yourself:
    *
Do I, awareness, need anything from experience?
    *
In this moment, am I , awareness, incomplete?
    *
In this moment, is there anything in experience that could diminish my fullness?
    *
Is there anything in experience that could disturb my innate peace?
Contemplate awareness until its innate qualities of peace and fulfillment come to you, emerge in your experience. It starts with who am I? Inquiring about the nature of who I am. I moves to self-abidance, self-remembering, self -resting, being aware of being aware, resting the mind in its source, in its essence. In this resting, the innate qualities of awareness begins to make its presence felt.
The mind doesn't have to become completely still. There is no such thing as a still mind. Mind is the activity of awareness. There isn't a thing called the mind. Mind is the activity of awareness. The only entity present in mind is awareness or consciousness. The goal is not to have a still mind but rather to have a mind that is infused with the innate peace of awareness. The idea is for the activity of the mind to be informed by the peace of awareness so that the activities of the mind express the qualities of awareness - peace, fulfillment, love. Do you want a silent mind, or do you want to be happy? Its nice to use your mind. Its nice for there to be activities, relationships, etc.
So, this is a gradual reconditioning of the mind, all of the layers of the mind. The conditioning of the mind has deep roots, including feelings in the body. And, it takes time for the qualities of awareness to permeate all of the layers. Awareness moves from something that is no longer just in the background of your mind, your mind begins to be permeated by the qualities of awareness. The qualities of awareness gradually infiltrate your mind. There is more peace. That is then expressed in your life, in your activities, your relationships. Relationships become more intimate, more friendly, more loving.
Even Nisargadatta said at the end of his life that he just continues to get happier and happier. So awareness was continuing to permeate his mind more and more, even then. First the journey to God, then the journey in God.

Thank you for taking the time to share the road map to the process of awareness and abiding happiness. I really appreciate his perspective that conditioning of the mind was a slow process and is deeply rooted. It helps me understand why it’s going to take some time. I didn’t get this entrenched with misperceptions in a short time and reconditioning my mind with God’s help, teachers, fellow travelers and my consent to process the moments with a better ability will take some practice. What great revelations. Thanks 🙏

    • @JuraGaga
      @JuraGaga 3 месяца назад +1

There is some confusion or misunderstanding with the teaching saying that "mind gets permeated with awareness" ...
If you think that you exist as body and mind which is permeated with consciousness ... Then it is not what this teaching is saying and this teaching says - that there are no objects that exist, only existence itself that appears as objects, including mind ...
So mind as an object does not exist to be "permeated" with consciousness. Mind is what awareness appears to be, it is the activity of consciousness ...
      In Spira's words analogy:
It is like screen, what you see on the screen is only a screen that displays but all there is - is a screen.
Without screen you would not be able to see anything,
in the same way all your experiences take place in awareness. But there is no experience or mind that is permeated with consciousness, just as there is no such thing as screen permeated media ...
      Good luck to all seekers.

I think Rupert is spot on that for most of us finding "self realization" is a work in progress. However, do not see it as a path because that would only take you away from your goal by strenghtening the rol of a seeker. Love you, Rupert.

At some point I made a habit of asking myself, "What is it that prevents me from finding peace and happiness in this experience?" and seeing the illusory self-imposed nature of these barriers. I rarely have to ask this question anymore. Life is infused with peace and happiness. Aside from the thought/belief aspect, some patterns in the body like anxiety just take time to subside, but my experience is that this does occur.

Thank you Rupert for reminding me that self-realization is a journey, not a destination. I am just beginning to experience the impeturbable peace of which you speak. Not surprisingly, after each such encounter my mind brings me back to my 75 year concept of reality which is to be distracted by the multiplicity and diversity of objects. But, now Iam becoming increasingly aware of that "reaction" which is a wonderful sign to me that I am beginning to realize that there is a mental state within me that contains the perfect peace and happiness for which I have always sought.

The sign of a good teacher is how he can aid somebody in seeing things clearly. As Nisargadatta Maharaj has said: “the guru wants only one thing, clarity”. This is much more helpful than an intellectual expose using terms like Brahman, … (although it can help to offer some framework but it is never enough). Practical advice like Rupert gives is very valuable. The thing that stood out for me in this video is Rupert saying something to the likes of “don’t stop searching until you are fully satisfied”. It’s so simple to be fooled to think one is close to realization, one might get close to it, only to be challenged again and again by a (small) setback. The path to enlightenment is about courage, about perseverance to break the identification reflex with the mind/thoughts (and feelings). To me, Rupert’s words truly possess strength, because some of his words really enter at a level of understanding that I call, beyond the (intellectual) mind. Our true convictions are - to me - inexpressible and beyond expression, beyond mind. That is where some of the words can sometimes briefly hit me/convince me/teach me. I personally have these hits the most with listening or reading Nisargadatta Maharaj, but Rupert Spira is his own kind of teacher and he is able to penetrate my mental wall quite often. I definitely need to buy a book from him. Any recommendation is welcome :-)

Finding companionship or a deepening of the search for Non Dual Realization on Facebook, for me, has been a failed experiment. For me personally it is a distraction and worse, a moving out of stillness, not into.
Several years ago I made a conscious decision to not get involved with a local Zen temple. I spoke a few time with the Roshi there and came to the conclusion, for myself, it too would be a distraction. I wanted it for the wrong reasons, I realized. I wanted to share the journey. To make friends and hang with a group of people who shared my dreams and goals. Who is it that has these dreams and goals? Who is it that wants to get lost in the story of friendship and worship? For me, for the past few years, there has been an intense a drive to go inward. A frustration with all that brings me out into the world. I am not talking about a celibate life or a life of "prayer and meditation". To my mind all that is also a distraction. I am talking about the practice of being aware of being aware. Of a self investigation so consuming that there seems to be death itself. It is more than just a practice, it is a sort of incineration of the self. A moth so attracted to the flame it has no choice but to surrender to it.
Most of the facebook non dual websites are a constant scrolling of sweet daily Non Dual Hallmark moments little digital placards with non dual tidbits, quotes etc. Some groups are filled with intellectuals some authentic and some want to be's whose only interest is to prove they know more than the next person. I find both catagories of thinkers equally challenging to my peace of mind. Ultimately we have Stillness, (Silence, Peace, Presence, Awareness) and I will make my stand there ( as Rupert Spira says). That is where Freedom will be found and no where else. I simply needed to see that the only way for me was to except my utter aloneness. There is free falling into the emptiness of nothing for no one. I just need to continue to surrender.

@@markrosinski4814 I will share with you my method of realizing oneself. If practiced constantly you will reach the goal. When under the influence of any feeling, emotion, you must try to feel the I who is hurt. This is the most important. Observe until you can feel it clearly. This is difficult. While observing dont try to stop the feeling of hurt. Then continue observing the I without resisting the feeling of hurt. You will discover that this I is something focused or localized inside. Continue observation. You will find out that this I exist because you identified yourself with hurt. The hurt became alive. You became the hurt. If you continue investigation, you will discover that you are not the hurt, not this I, but this I is inside you. You will be aware of yourself as borderless something (i cannot find a word for that) and this focused I at the same time. And with your will you can stop the identification and the feeling will be stopped also.

Call off the search but continue to dwell within the Longing . The longing in the is case is not an individual desire that is chased to improve the Story but a desire for freedom without relative physical or mental acquisition .
The longing is the most fundamental aspect of desire . It is desire without direction.
Now to the mans seeming dilemma. I believe he is asking how to become free when one realizes it cannot be accomplished via understanding .
This is where Satsang comes in. Satsang is NOT about what the master/teacher/ person in the front of the room is saying but a transmission of Freedom from self to Self , from Here to Here. Without this lively Transmission by the teacher , one remains in the minds belief that it can achieve freedom through understanding . Just one more insight , just one final “ i get it” .

Secret is. There is constant unconsious, automatic identification with feelings, emotions and thoughts. This is the state called ignorance or sleep. You must be able to be aware of this identification. When you watch this constant automatic process you can feel your real self for a moment. Which is awareness. Constantly doing this you will be established in Chit. Awareness. But to be able to watch, feel requires sensitivity, pureness of mind etc. These are attained during long yogic processes.

    • @cm6815
      @cm6815 3 года назад

Thank you for sharing this truth. The automatic process of reaction requires hesitation in order to move out of that conditioning. Cultivating increased sensitivity is a wonderful consequence to this next step of giving one additional space and appreciation of the layer that has formed. Deeply rooted like Rupert explained. It all makes such sense and is so practical to become an observer instead of a reactor. Next comes processing with different filters than I am used to using. So grateful to be on this journey with those who share wisdom of the inner journey. Thanks again.

It was a wonderful yet scary experience discovering the true self. Btw God has already said who He is and cannot share His name with its creation.(Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.)

i am that which is aware of my thoughts... i can't name it but my mind thinks that the" i" in i am is an object, a material being who has a name, friends and family, a job perhaps (not in my case). that sense of awareness who has identified itself with that material being is actually "wrong" because nobody can experience my thoughts so nobody can experience me... it's impossible to be something material but at the same time it is. The mind is stil identified with something material and i guess that enlightenment is when you truly live your true being, that "nothingness" which has no name. is that correct?

It can not be understood by the mind. It goes beyond the mind.
When your mind identifies you as your body and the material world it is the ego.
The mind and thoughts tell you that Your identity is you life story, your human experience.

But the continued dualistic language lends itself to confusion. There is no "body" and there is no "mind". There are just the so-called feelings, sensations, thoughts, etc, that are not "located" or "owned", and that emanate from and as a "program", which is essentially a software program.

I almost did as well, until I remembered who I really am in the moment. Pure I am awareness, just “ being”

I don't know how, but i briefly found myself in the space between two thoughts . How do i abide there? Something keeps pulling me back.....

You can't force it, as soon as you try, you lose it. It's a matter of practice and perseverance - but good to hear that you do recognise that empty space between thoughts. That's about where I am myself.

Keep going.. and see that the space you mention is the “screen” on which all thoughts appear and disappear. It doesn’t actually leave when a thought arises. So don’t think that a thought is taking you away from it :)

I've never heard a liberated speaker say give up the search. Total misunderstanding of adviata.

Northern Ireland Foot & Ankle Clinic agreed. I think it can be quite frustrating in the beginning when you find those teachers (who I won’t name here) that seem to point to this (“there’s nothing to do”), more than anything else. It is not helpful and is a hindrance

Seeking can never be fully satisfied. Seeking is a hamster wheel that takes us nowhere. What we are seeking for us something that can not be lost, but we must ignore and resist it n order to seek after it.

I agree. Seeking is searching objectively. Searching for a future out come or goal.
I am the present moment, I can’t be in the past or future.

But awareness is not there all the time. It comes and goes. I'm not always aware of awareness just as I am not always aware of thoughts etc. But Rupert says this is what you are because this is what is always there. This confuses me.

When you are firmly established it wont go. You are awareness. It goes because you are in sleep. You are Sat chit ananda. Awareness is chit.

Awareness appears to come and go because it’s over looked, particularly when you are engrossed in an objective experience or when you resist something that is happening now.
I try and always remember who I really am. I’m always here

Have you ever had an experience which you weren’t aware of? That would be impossible. All thoughts, feelings, sensations, and perceptions are possible only through being aware of them. Putting your attention on the awareness may come and go, but to say awareness comes and goes would be to claim you go through life sometimes consciously acting and sometimes blacking out and yet still acting. Hope that helps :)
